Shots Needed for Suppression Fire
A recent question on the boards has brought my attention to Suppression Fire. Basically, I've got a small group of related questions: How many shots are required to be fired into each hex/hex line? How often must these shots be fired (Phase or Segment)? Must the Autofire attack be capable of firing the total number of shots (among all hex/hex lines) to perform the maneuver? What happens if more targets move through the are and are hit than there are shots fired that Phase/Segment? Thanks!

RE: Flying Dodge vs Ranged Attacks
In a recent Answer to Talon's ? you indicated that if a Flying Dodger Aborts and their FMOVE takes them to a spot where a Ranged attacker can no longer see them that the ranged attacker might still shoot them at some point along their movement. However, this seems to be inconsistent with the rules for an Abort on page 236 of FRED which state that an Aborted Action always "goes first", which would seem to indicate that the Attacker would declare their attack, the Defender aborts to FD and FMOVEs (potentially around a corner or similar) and then, after the Abort is finished resolving, the Attacker completes their declared attack. However your response seems …

Interval Between Power Uses
I would like to have a limitation on a power that forces a delay between uses. For example, a laser that take has a 'cool-down' time between uses. I was wondering what the limitation on this would be. While it's similar to the 'Extra Time' limitation, it doesn't affect the first use of the power. Is it a modified 'Extra Time' limitation? Thanks MistWing SilverTail

Flying Dodge and Ranged Attacks
Someone attacks me with a ranged attack, and in response I Abort to Flying Dodge and fly around the corner, breaking LOS. Does the attacker get a chance to hit me, or is the attack guaranteed to miss?

Retroactive Life Support
Steve, I was busy creating a few spells for a mage, and a thought hit me. Suppose I create an ongoing effect, like the Deadly Cloud from the Grimoire (RKA, NND, Does Body) whose defense is LS: Immunity to Poisons. Suppose someone is taking damage from this, and drinks a potion of Poison Immunity (LS: Immune to all Terrestrial Poisons -- the 10 pt version). I assume that (1) he stops taking the damage at that point but (2) the damage he's already taken is NOT retroactively erased...am I correct? Thanks!

Crushed
How much damage does pure weight do? I'm aware of the optional "minimum damage" for falling heavy objects, but how much damage does one take for simply having an object way out of one's lifting range sit there? Also, does this affect combat with large characters? I would think that a 300 Ton behemoth could do quite a bit of damage by simply sitting on people (no STR), and maybe even do this damage by accident (walking across a weak bridge is risky). Also, this knowledge would help in situations where one is pinned by weight, as in "normals are under the wreckage and are dieng you need to dig them out fast"! For large characters for which this may be an abused combat …

Damage Reduction Compound Power?
I'm just full of question today, aren't I? In most (if not all) the material I have consulted, when Damage reduction is applied to PD and ED, it seems to have one overall AP and RP costs. Yet, Hero Designer insists that the only way i can do this is in a compound power. I am just wondering which it is, because it could influence point costs, like determining the level of Linked that you should use. So which is it?

Modified Linked Limitation
If Damage Reduction (Resistant) 25% was linked to a 60 pts power, and the conditional "only applies at 30 pts worth of X power or more" was added to the Linked Limitation, what would the Linked Limitatio be worth: (-¼) or (-½)?

Explosion as Naked Advantage + modifier
If you apply "Explosion" advantage to 60 STR with the "Hole in the Middle" advantage, would the AP pf the Naked advantage be 37 or 45?

Linked Limitation
Just checking something. Yes or no question: A character has + 20 PD Linked to 60 pts of Growth (12 lvls). If he gains the PD in a proportional way (+5 PD for every 15 pts of Growth) the Linked Limitation should be (-½), yes? P.S.: please answer by yes or no. I'm checking something for TUB, and something is happening so often that I think I am missing something in the rules, so a page reference would not be helpful. Sorry!

Flying Dodge
I'm not sure this is a rules question, so I apologize in advance. The cost of the Flying Dodge maneuver in UMA seems wrong to me. It should cost 6 pts: 1 pt for Abort 2 pts for +1 DCV with a Dodge basis 3 pts for Full Move Is my math correct?

Usable On Others
At the end of the Usable On Others Advantage it says, "Similarly, an character can use a Focus which isn't Personal even though this Advantage isn't bought for it; that's part of the Focus Limitation." What does this mean? Does it mean that the Power to be granted can have a Focus that the character needs to have (I cast a spell on some berries and give them to someone so that when they eat them they have increased CON)?

Superleap Minimum Height
One issue with Superleap that's always plagued my gaming group is the logistics behind how much space (height) is necessary to superleap. It would make sense that one disadvantage of superleap would be a minimum height requirement in order to hit a specific distance. The way the power works right now it seems like you can just target any hex within your range and leap to it (with no prob if you've taken the appropriate adder/advantages). Does this mean if you're in a two hex tall corridor thats say 20 hexes long and you have 20 inches of superleap that you could leap 20 hexes with no problem in a corridor that short? We house-ruled it to require at least half t…

Deadly blow AP?
Hi Steve, If I buy deadly blow from FH and use an AP weapon do I need to buy AP advantage for my deadly blow skill? Or do I simply do less damage AP, ie 2 dc's HKA AP, instead of 3dc's Ap? Or should I ignore the whole issue? Thanks. Eagle Eye Ali

Martial DCs and Choke Hold
Do martial DCs add to your effective strength (at leats for holding on) when using the choke hold maneuver? It doesn't add str by itself to the hold, so I was unsure if martial DCs would help out like they do for Martial grab, Escape and Disarm.

Variable Radius Area Of Effect
What is the 'proper' method to vary the radius of a Radius Area Of Effect power? I would like to be able to alter it whenever I use the power without having to reduce the power's strength. The AOE's value as per the rules would be the maximum radius and the alterations would always be less. Thanks MistWing SilverTail

Combining Powers Questions
I would like to have an Entangle that also has Lack Of Weakness of it. The Entangle has a variety of advantages on it. Do I have to put the same advantages on the Lack Of Weakness, or does the Lack Of Weakness pick up the needed advantages from the Entangle. For Example: The Entangle has Hardened Defense on it. Do I need to put Hardened Defence on the Lack Of Weakness? Also, Lack Of Weakness does not have a range. Do I need to put a range of the Entangle's Lack Of Weakness? Thanks MistWing SilverTail

Two Guns STR required?
If a firearm has a 10 STR minimum (such as with a .45 cal gun), does a PC need 20 STR to fire two simultaneously (as w/ Two Weapon Fighting)??

Extra Dimensional Movement cost
My understanding from the book is that it is 20 for 1 place/dimension, 25 for anyplace in 1 dimension, 30 for any place/group of dimension, and 40 for any place/dimension. 60 for any place/dimension plus time travel. Is that correct so far? The FAQ seems to indicate either, if you only want time travel: 1. that it's five points less for "only through time" (making Dr. When's last Power 55 points). or 2. that you only have to pay for the "any place" part of it if, costing 5 points (making it 45). It looks like 2 to me, but I wanted to be sure. Thanks in advance.

Costs END to activate, and Persistent
These two entries are from the FAQ. the first implies that you *can* add Persistent to Costs END Only To Activate, and the second one says you can't. Which is it? "Costs Endurance Only To Activate Power Q: If I have this Advantage to a Power, and only have to pay END to turn the Power on, do I also need Persistent to keep it from turning off if I’m Stunned, Knocked Out, or asleep? A: Yes, you still need Persistent. Costs Endurance Only To Activate Power doesn’t make a power Persistent, and as the 5E text notes on page 273-74, if you’re Stunned or Knocked Out, all powers which aren’t Persistent turn off. Q: Can a character make a power w…

A finer pt on moving things with TK.
There's been some debate going on in Hero System Discussion board about moving things around with TK. Here's a question that I think might help clarify things. What, if any, are the differences between "throwing" an object with TK and "moving" it? The FAQ seems to imply synonymy between these terms in some places. Specifically, I need to know if you maintain your grip on the object after you've thrown it, since you do lose your grip with normal STR after a throw. Thanks.

Superleap and falling damage
Does superleap help you avoid falling damage? If so, what are the guidelines for this and how much superleap do you need to survive terminal velocity (using 1G as a guideline)?

Hi, I was just wondering if the active pt cost in a vpp is the pool cost + the control cost(before dissadvantages are applied)? Thanks.

Multipower Allocation & Powers building
Steve, I have a player who has this specific setup. My question I beleive falls into a rules question area. If I understand the rules regarding Multipowers and adders on individual powers, then I believe when this character is using his FF (Forcefield), then that character has in effect, only 2 inches of flight movement available to him. I am basing this on the 17 character points left after the 45 is taken away from the 62 in the reserve. 17 subtracting 5 for the adder of position shift subtracting 5 more for the adder of *4 noncombat and finally using the remaining 7 points but also applying the 1/4 advantage modifier he has leaves him with 2 points…

Cumulative Dispel
Let's say that Character A uses a cumulative Dispel (Magic) on Character B's magical Force Field. However, Character A is not able to turn Character B's power off with that one shot. He'll need to hit it again. Now it's Character B's turn, in which he turns his force field off and then back on again, both as zero-phase actions. Since Character B reset his power, what happens to the Dispel "damage" that Character A did? Is it gone? Is it still there?
