Summoning Vehicles
Okay Star Hero has rules for summoning vehicles in it, here is my question: If a character can summon a SPECIFIC vehicle does he have to pay an additional +1 above and beyond the +1 for 100% Loyal?

Plenty of Throwing - what about catching?
I did some scanning and searching and still can't find the rules for CATCHING something or someone that has been thrown or dropped. The rules for throwing are all there and complete, but I can't seem to find any situations where your character can: a) catch an object/person thrown at them as an attack (Missile Deflection? Can a thrown person make it easier to be caught if conscious?) catch or intercept something thrown at a target that is not them (Dive for Cover addresses maybe half of this) c) catch something thrown to them by another character that they want you to catch. There's even a genre example in the BBB that mentions tossing a set of car keys o…

Rapid Fire Explosions
Are rapid fire explosions legal? I have a GM who has several times used them. With 4 shots of rapid fire he pretty much covers the map targeting hexes. I haven't seen anything prohibiting this, but something about it seems wrong.

cost for mental paralysis
hey Steve, Maybe i missed it in FAQ and am just not understanding book right. What is the total advantage bonus applied to Entangle for BOECV. Is it: 1) 1D6 = 10 * 1 1/2 (+1/4 uses ego instead of str, +1/4 immune to attacks) = 15 pts per die 2) 1d6 = 10 * 2 1/2 (+1 for BOECV, +1/4 uses ego instead of str, and +1/4 immune to physical attacks) = 25 pts per die I realize how stupid this question may be, but i recently had a 10 ego villian in my fantasy game taken out by a 35 point mental paralysis, and i think i was calculating incorrectly (using number 1 above) so that the person attacking was doing 2 1/2 d6 entangle instead of a 1 1/2 d6 entangle.

Entangle Limitations
Steve, Under entangle there is a limitation for fixed results (away from my book right now, so I probably have the name wrong, it is the one for hands or feet only). My question is this: If a character can effect either the hands or the feet but is not limited to it (so on one phase he can target the arms, the next he could go for the legs) would this be the normal -1 limitation, or is this something that has not been covered yet? My gut says to call it a -1/2 lim...

Dive For Cover
My gaming group has been debating the Dive For Cover rule for a while now, and I was hoping you could shed some light on the reason why the skills Breakfall and Acrobatics cannot be used after preforming this manuver. I checked the FAQ about this, and the only answer given was that "no," Breakfall and Acrobatics could not be used to land on one's feet after performing Diving For Cover, which would negate ending up prone at the end of the manuver. A few of my players feel that Breakfall and Acrobatics should be allowed to be used with this manuver, but I feel that there must be a reason that the FAQ state that it is not allowed. I assume it is some form of balance of the m…

Stupid question, I know, but ... Full strength only?
I was sure there was a limitation for this, but I can't remember what it was/how it was built. Would you put a power that only works at full power or not at all under a Limited Power or partial NCC?

But I Have Another...
Okay, of you have more than one of the same piece of equipment (be it a focus, vehicle, or even a follower), it costs 5 points for each doubling. What is your Power isn't in a focus? Say a player wants two EBs, one for each hand? Is it still 5 points for a second/backup Power, or would you actually have to pay full points for a second?

VPP Limitations
Hope this particular one hasn't been asked before, I searched the archives and read the FAQ, and didn't find the exact answer. The character in question has a VPP defined as a "spore cloud" (He is essentially a giant mushroom). He can use the spores to create ranged powers (Mental Illusions) and non-ranged powers (Healing, Self Only). In any case, he cannot control his spores beyond a range of 20m. Would it be appropriate to take this as a Limited Range 20m (-1/2) on the VPP? Or should it be taken on each power individually? If the Lim is not taken on the VPP, then couldn't the character simply build powers that do not have the Lim? This would be cheating the o…

Transfer & Area Affect
It's on page 106 of the PDF FAQ. I had looked in the book and the html FAQ, but since it was far down in the FAQ I must have missed it. Sorry.

Transfer & Area Affect
A 2d6 Transfer with AE affects all of the targets (say 4 in the area), but how many points does the transferer get? 4x2d6 or the maximum of 2d6? If he drains each an average of 7 points, does he then get 28?

Steve, a weird rules question
Okay, I was thinking about te 4th editions Champions, most specificaly Solitaire and Widget, and how I would have built them (you know I am a tinker) Got me thinkng however, can a character (MOST LIKELY a follower, but maybe another player character) take a naked power advantage without having any powers it can be used on For Example Widget's aid: 1/2 End on up to 80 pointsof magical power (20 base points)+Ubo (+1/4)=25 points Of course anything like this a GM would have to watch very closely (for that matter the minute I see UBO on a follower I worry )

END Drain
Steve, I think the question is: If a Drain takes a character into negative END, does the target also take STUN damage from being hit by the Drain (i.e. is the loss of END due to a Drain exactly like spending END in this case)?

END. drain again
Sorry to be a bother about this. I tried going through the FAQ but it was as inconclusive as the rule book. I found this staement: "If a Characteristic is Drained/Suppressed into the negatives, then the standard rules for that Characteristic apply. For example, a character with zero or negative END would have to use STUN in place of END if he wanted to take actions requiring END." However this seems to talk about taking actions to use END. What I am asking is: If A drains B into negative END does B take immediate stun damage for using end that B does not have? Thanks for the help

END. Drain question
Hi. I was wondering if an END. takes someone to a - number do they take STUN damage as if using END. that they don't have? This has come up in my games and seems a little too effiecient since the villain loses END at a very quick rate and then takes NND stun damage also. The attack in question is a mere 3d6 drain and has cripples some villains who are very END intensive. Thanks in advance for your help.

Clairsentience and the Range of Precongnition
If I can see into future with Clairsentience, am I limited to future visions which are within the range of my normal Clairsentience? For example, if I my Clairsentience has a range of 200", could I see visions of the future, or past, about a temple which is 1km away?

Entangle Only to Form Barriers
OK Cecked the FAQ, and it didn't cover this 100%. In the FAQ it states this Q: If a character uses Entangle to make a wall, does the Entangle still take damage normally? For example, suppose a DEF4/BODY 14 Entangle wall is hit with an RKA that does 10 BODY. Would the end result be an Entangle wall DEF4/BODY 8 wall? A: The wall takes damage just like any other Entangle; the example is correct. If the Entangle Takes No Damage From Attacks, an attacker would have to target it at -3 OCV to damage it So what happens in this situation: Character has the Entangle, Blocks Sight Group, with the Only to form Barriers Lim on it. Then puts the Advans - Opaque to No…

Gimme a Boost II
Thanks, Steve! As a followup to your reply... What are the OCV/DCV mods for "picking up your friend", if any?

Roll with a punch and block
I was wondering... why a character should choose to abort to a roll with a punch instead of a block? With the block maneuver, you don't have the -2 malus on the roll against the foe's OCV, and if you succeed, you avoid all the damage. Or is it possible to roll with a punch also after an unsuccessful block (declared or aborted to)? Thanks

Gimme a Boost
Can a grabbing character allow the character he's grabbed to maintain his full OCV/DCV during the grab? The situation I'm imagining is carrying a character without Flight into the air to strike from above, or using TK for the same effect.

END Reserve and Stunning
Hi Steve - According to the rules FAQ, Powers that draw END from an END Reserve do not have to shut off when a character is Knocked Out or otherwise unconscious, because the END Reserve and its REC continue to function. Would the same logic allow END Reserve-powered Powers to stay on when a character is Stunned? Thanks!

RSR with multiple Skills and Power Frameworks
Hi Steve - Can you apply Requires A Skill Roll to a Power Framework, if different slots/powers use different Skills, but all require a Skill Roll? For example, let's say I'm using a Variable Power Pool-based magic system. I want the spellcasters to be restricted to only spells they know. "Spells they know" is defined in this case as meaning "spells they've bought the Power Skill for. Can I apply Requires A Skill Roll to the VPP, even though each spell would use it's own Skill (Fireball, Lightning Bolt, Shield, and so on) rather than a single "Magic Skill?" Thanks!

Combat Levels for ECV
Can you use an All Combat skill level to add to your ECV if you normally use said skill level for OCV/DCV? Or do you have to designate a level for ECV permanently? SAW

Followup COM question
In the FAQ, it says that drains cannot bring COM into negative numbers, but that a drain could bring COM down to 0, then an AID could take it into the negatives. In the previous question, you said that Drain would continue to reduce COM into the negatives, and Aid would increase it from the negatives to the positives. I'm sure I'm missing something that connects the two, but I can't figure out what. I know that this is sort of a dumb question, but it's been bothering me for a couple of days now.
