Multiform Confusion
I am a fairly new player who is having some confusion regarding multiform. Some things our GM has told me conflicts with what I've read in the book on page 137. Maybe you can help me? First of all, if I understand correctly, if you have paid the points for x4 forms, you essentially have a total of 5 forms. Your true form, AND 4 forms you can change into. Secondly, that your true form isn't considered when referring to the most expensive form. Take the example given in the book: a 350 point character has four forms he can change into, the most expensive one being 400 points. So, the character points his true form pays is based on the 400, 80 points, plus …

Held actions and timing
Reaction Man is holding his phase, waiting for Action Guy to go. A.G. starts his phase, and performs a half move towards R.M. RM declares that he wants to interrupt AG's action, and beats AG in the DEX roll. He would like to attack AG once he is 4 hexes away (rather than waiting for him to complete his move). Can he attack when AG is in the middle of his move? Or, must he either choose to preempt the move (thus deal with the extra range), or wait until the move is complete (but before AG attacks). If he can attack, in any point in AG's move, how will knockback affect AG's move? Thanks! Silbeg...

Multiple Power Attacks and ECs
FRED pg 204 says that multiple slots in an Elemental Control can only be used in a Multiple Power Attack with GM permission. For the sake of this question, assume such permission has been granted. Pg 234 says that if using two slots in the same power framework in an MPA, the character must have enough points in the framework to allocate to both. How, if at all, does this effect ECs? Are the EC powers at reduced effectiveness when used in a MPA, or at full strength?

Mental Haymaker
Does a mental Haymaker reduce your DCV or your DECV? Or both? Search on the FAQ for "Haymaker" pulls up nothing. Hopefully that means it's not there, not that the search engine doesn't work.

Cost of Duplication
OK, I'm pretty sure this is just an oversight, but I want to get some official clarification. In FREd, the cost of Duplication is listed as 1 CP for every 5 CP of the original character. However, in all the examples, and in several examples in the Rules FAQ, the cost is calculated as 1 CP for every 5 CP in the duplicate. So which is correct? Is the cost of Duplication based on the original character or the duplicates? I'm pretty sure it's the second one, but I wanted to check, since nowhere in the FAQ or the FREd errata does it say that the cost listed in FREd is incorrect.

DCV Mod's II
Following from Javed's question, I looked at the checklist. I'd like to get you to confirm an example. The Mighty Lump is swarmed by Mechanon's Robots of Doom. Lump has a DCV of 6 at the best of times. In a desparate attempt to clear them, off, he attempts a Sweep on 3 Robots, smashinmg them all into fragments. Three more Robots half move in, and Lump is again surrounded by 6 Robots. They all attack, using their Teamwork program (21-) to co-ordinate and Multiple Attack. I calculate Lump's DCV as follows: (a) Apply modifiers to DCV: Multiple Attackers subtract 1 for each attacker beyond the first, which would be 5, but can't reduce Lump below half hi…

Bases...
I tried looking in the FAQ, but believe it or not, I didn't find this question... The BASE LOCATION TABLE on page 317 of FRED lists +20 as the Cost Modifier for having an Underground Base... What if only *part* of a Base is Underground...? Do you apply Partial Coverage Limitation to the +20 points, if the Underground portion is small enough...? I'm thinking of small, unground secure areas, and access tunnels here....

Question re: Linked limitation
I do know that you cannot Link the same power to multiple powers in the same Multipower. However, can you Link a single power to multiple powers that aren't in a power framework? If so, do you purchase the Linked limitation for each power you've linked to?

Sweep and STR endurance
When you make a sweep manuever with an STR based attack, you must pay END for every attack in the sweep, correct?

DCV modifiers
It has been established (I think) that if a character has his DCV halved by one modifier, it cannot be halved again by another. If a character has his DCV halved, does this affect the Multiple attacker bonus, which causes a -1 DCV to a minimum of 1/2 DCV?

Minimoves Followup
Your interpretation was what I expected, but I don't understand its underlying logic. Does this mean that you can never run after having landed a leap, because you used a running half move for the "running start"? What about a brick who strides over to a thin wall and tunnels it, but still has plenty of movement? Does he stop after having used his two halfphase actions? What happens to his velocity? I realise these, and many more, are all "exceptions" that the GM should handwave...but it seems like a pretty big hole that really could use a simple patching.

Continuing Charges
Micron carries a shrinking pill in a locket around his neck. When he takes the pill, he shrinks to miniscule size for exactly one hour, then reverts to his normal size. It does not allow him to change size during that hour (although the effect can be cancelled by dousing him with water). His player has bought this as Shrinking with 1 Continuing Charge lasting 1 hour, for a -1/4 limitation. Minute Man has a magical amulet that , when rubbed, grants him the power to shrink to miniscule size for 1 hour. While it is active, he can freely change between being really small and normal size. After that hour it doesn't work again until the next day. His player has also…

AE Damage Shields
When a character has a Damage Shield that is AE (such as the Sunfire Mantel from USPD), when does the damage shield trigger? For further clarification, I will give an example: Kid Comet has the following power: Cometary Tail: Sight and Hearing Groups Flash 2d6, Area Of Effect (One Hex; +1/2), Damage Shield (+1/2), Continuous (+1) (45 Active Points); Brass Bullet (a move-through specialist) attempts to perform a Move-Through on Kid Comet. Does Brass Bullet take the effects of the Flash: Upon entering the hex (before striking Kid Comet)? Upon Entering the hex, as he strikes Kid Comet? After he strikes Kid Comet? Based on your statemen…

Selective AE and Continuous
A character has the following power: Energy Blast 10d6, Personal Immunity (+1/4), Area Of Effect (One Hex; +1/2), Selective (+1/4), Continuous (+1) (150 Active Points) 1) If an opponent enters the affected hex, will the controlling character need to have an attack action (i.e, a held half-phase, or whatever) to be able to affect the character entering the AE? I am suggesting that a better way to handle this attack would be the following: Energy Blast 10d6, Personal Immunity (+1/4), Area Of Effect (One Hex; +1/2), Damage Shield (+1/2), Continuous (+1) (162 Active Points) 2) With this power, any character entering the hex will be affected. Would the p…

MiniMoves
Suppose a character who has just landed his hang-glider after soaring down (6" gliding) wants to run across a rooftop (3" running), swing with his grapeling hook across a gap(4" swinging), continue running(5" running), leap across a smaller gap (3" leaping) and down to a lower roof, then smash through the thick roof (1" tunneling) Would this take at least three phases, regardless of the movement rates, because each of the six movement type needs to have its own unique half-move? Do the actual speeds matter--what if he could have moved the whole 23" with one type?

UBO & XDM
Okay, I am working on a power build (I know there is a version of it in USPDB, But I beleive in skinning a cat a number of ways) So a few questions, a character wants to be able to give his agility skills, Stun, etc... to a character, then jump into another dimension, does he need to: 1) Maintain physical contact with someone who he has given powers to via UBO? If not, does it matter if the character is on the same plane? 2) Requires XD for Succor if is to be maintained. 3) Does aid/succor always place on top (first to loose?)

Mindscan...
Victimus is hiding in Sri Landa. I make my roll to find him on Earth, and I make the effect roll by Ego+20 so I know his exact location. I make no mental attack or communication attempts upon him. 1. Victimus does not have Mental Awareness. Does he sense anything..and if so, what? If he did have mental awareness, would he be aware or who was doing the scanning, or just that he was scanned? 2. Do I detect that he's in Sri Lanka, or that he's 8,579 miles SE by 250 miles S? Or something else? 3. Can I use Megascale Teleport to blind teleport to his vicinity? Could I blind Megascale Teleport to five miles above his location, so I avoid that pesky be…

Riding the Waves...with riders...
I'm going to ask a pre-question: Is it possible to have Usable On Others (simultaneous) with the On Others endurance cost paid for by the originator? If so, is this a bonus or limitation, if either? I have a Chinese dragon. People can ride on this dragon, and when they ride on him they move with him, are protected by him, and so forth. In all cases, the person must remain touching the dragon for the powers to continue to work, which is entirely voluntary (ie., the dragon can't Grab somebody and then FTL to Mars). For some powers, like Flight, it's clear how it works (if you can carry it, you can fly with it, so they'd be carried in flight). But what about …

Are natural weapons considered armed attacks?
Are attacks made with natural weapons (teeth, claws, tusks, etc.) considered to be armed or unarmed attacks? Would a character need to buy Weapon Element to use Martial Maneuvers with natural weapons? Would a character apply extra damage classes to the base damage of Martial Maneuvers using natural weapons? Changing Mental Class
I'm trying to simulate a character who can change his mental 'class', as it references psionic abilities. Actually, what I'm really trying to simulate is someone who can take a power that causes him to be a different mental 'class' than the rest of his species, effectively rendering him immune to psionics, both positive and negative. I'm thinking of doing this as follows: Shape Shift (Mental) - 0 END +1/2, Persistent +1/2, Always On (-1/2) Does this seem viable? Or is there a 'Hero-approved' way of doing this?

Limitations on Martial Arts
I read the faq saying that the default is no. Check. However, in H5E the example for purchasing skills on pg 141, is Chen Kwai who has a Martial Arts package bought with OIF; Gem. Should I assume that the FAQ overrides said example?

SPD, DEX, and Initiative.
Steve, I have never known if movement, as in a Move-By/Move-Through takes any time. And if it does, does it give lower DEX characters a chance to act while the higher DEX character is "in transit". Example: Character A and Character B are 10 hexes apart. Both Character A and Character B have a SPD of 4. Character A has a DEX of 28, and 20" of Flight. Character B has a DEX of 23. It is now Segment 3. Character A goes first: "I want to perform a Move Through on Character B! I am going to Fly at him and tackle him." Character B says: "I am going to use my Energy Blast to attack Character A." What is the sequence …

Point Cost of Naked Power Advantages
The previous question has reminded me of this question I've had in a while. I have not been able to find in the rulebook how to find the cost of a naked power advantage. What is it?

END and Naked Power Advantages
From the Faq (Advantages and adders) Re: The question on cost of Naked advantage and the example. Shouldn't the naked advantage cost 2 END to use do to the fact that it is 20 Active points? (the example says its 9 points, but those are 9 Real Points). (I think this is leading to a calculation problem with Naked Powers in HDv2 - which I am going to ask about in its forum). Nightfox
