Lord Commissioner, I have been traveling and have become hopelessly lost in terms of who has chosen what and what remains unselected. Might a roster update be forthcoming?

Can't speak for others, but if it helps even a little, I think My current standing is:

Nadiya Brightbringer Goddess of Hope

    Geography: The Elven Lands

    Sentient Life:  The Elven Peoples

    Gift to Civilization:

    Flora, Fauna, or Ore:

    Interference:

    Mythic Monster or Guardian:

    Secondary Domain: Resilience

    Secondary Domain  Intuition

    Secondary Domain:

And I apparently earned a bonus Sentient Life along the way, also currently empty

Mister Rancor had been noticeably absent from much of the specifics happening in the cylindrical world, with the multiple events and objects from the accident of Etterskell only opening more opportunity.  Rancor shook his head.

He stood on the land that had been scarred.... glancing at the doom brought forth by his son.  Rancor was not sure if what he was feeling was pride... or truthfully resentment of being surpassed by one so young.  His feelings for Crax were complicated, but was much more pure than the feelings he had for his siblings.

Rancor had been existing within the shadows of Masque, a place where he felt comfortable, but the brazen attack demanded his attention.

Shifting forms into what appeared to be a survivor, one of those saved by the hopeful, whose resiliency always turned his stomach.  When he had the chance, Mister Rancor found himself whispering into the ears of the survivors.  "Why did the God of Heroes cast us aside?"  "Clarkent Kal has forsaken our justice."  "Alitheon brought death to us all."   "I heard the Elven nomads Aelf were the true unspoken force behind the assault. Such black eyes..."

As he spread the rumors through the survivors, planting seeds intended to sprout into the burning hatred and thriving revenge, Mister Rancor decided to target Hedonia as well.  Gambling is such an ample target.  The house never loses and those who find themselves unable to cope, have hatred fueling within their breasts.    Rancor made sure that these hapless losers knew whom to blame for their lot in life... those who worshiped Nagus Sterling.

Mister Rancor never wanted the direct action, preferring to allow the explosion to form from within.  Those were always the most damaging.

Geography: Cracks

Doctor-Who-Crack.jpg

Smack Track

Avoid the Crack

Or you might not be coming back

Flap Strap

You passed the Gap

A careless step became a trap

Fizz Whiz

The world a quiz

The Was or Will-Be now the Is

Bread Fled

A spinning head

They say that you are long long dead

Torn Corn

So forlorn

A thousand years before you’re born

Pell Mell

Etterskell

The world was broken when it fell

Mime Chime

The Cracks in Time

Stay away — and heed the rhyme!

— Children’s play-song

When Etterskell broke the nascent World, Thoal Anai’in welded it back together as the Chimney. But he couldn’t fix it perfectly. He left Cracks.

These can look like ordinary crevices… until you step on them or lean on them. Then they may open and you fall through. You’re still in the same part of the Chimney, but you’re in the past or future. Years and years. Maybe centuries.

People have found ways to open the Cracks deliberately, but there’s no way to control their destination. A given Crack always leads to the same relative time, such as “57 years ago,” or “302 years in the future” — and if you can open it again on the other side, you can go back. But no one can know until somebody goes. Moreover, Cracks never last long. Fall through a Crack — not long to get back, the saying goes. The Crack may seal in days, hours, or maybe it seals right after you went through and you’re screwed.

A person would have to be brave, foolish, or desperate to go through a Crack deliberately. That doesn’t mean people haven’t found uses for Cracks. The easiest use is the nastiest: Shove someone you don’t like through a Crack and whee, they’re almost certainly gone forever! Though the God of Heroes may have something to say about that…

There are no Cracks in the Murdered Land. Not anymore. Mortals do not know whether this was a direct consequence of the Great Slaying or a separate, willed act by the God of Murder.

Finally, Gods cannot go through Cracks. Gods are too big. Best guesses are that the attempt would simultaneously kill the God and shatter the World. Fortunately, there is no God of Suicide as far as anyone knows.

"Get him, Aziza!"

;)

Jokes aside, nicely done.

ADDENDUM: Yes, there are "prophecies" because of people who fell through Cracks into the past. Problem is, these people are rarely historians with complete dossiers of what's going to happen where, when and how. So information about the future tends to be... sketchy, and only understood after the fact. You know, like EVERY PROPHECY EVER.

You want to try warning people in the past about the Murdered Land? You can try... Maybe you'll do better than the dozen other people who knew that something really big and bad was going to happen, um, somewhere? At some time?

It's not Etterskell's problem.

The foreman said: "By the Bastard! How are we supposed to move these rocks? This monument won't build itself!"

The devotee of Oeneus looked up from his reverie, and said: "Rollers. We put them on rollers."

And that is how Oeneus became the god of Sex, Drugs and Rolling Rocks...
---
Interference: Fitz's monuments are built using rollers.

It's too petty to justify this as a Secondary Domain, unless DT declares otherwise.

I originally intended to use this joke much later in the draft, as the end of a Shaggy Dog story.

As I stated previously the first update is tomorrow.

The weekend we take off and is for flavour text and for people to catch up.

I like this as a gag and the fact that it adds to another God's choice makes it an ideal Interference.

Okay, Strangecharm has a bit of catching up to do.

Acknowledging Fitz as the Patron of Water,  Strangecharm claims the manifestation of water as it relates to changes small and great: Rain (Secondary domain).

Perhaps the small things that result in the greatest consequences are the decisions one makes every day. Thus Strangecharm claims as her province Choices (Secondary domain).

For life, Strangecharm introduces Wisps — insubstantial creatures that float on the wind, luminescent and fleeting. They work by subtlety and suggestion. If one is not observant, one might never notice their presence at all (Fauna/Flora/Ore).

And I think that will catch me up.

Corrections:

* Cracks in Time can also send one to the future... just as uncontrollably, and just as difficult to find a way to make this useful. Though an audacious person (or group of people) might try.

* Alchemy Lances are by Sociotard. I already have a different Interference in mind for Etterskell.

Dean Shomshak

Incidentally, I humbly offer to Sociotard that alchemy guns might be nicknamed "Equalizers."

Nagus Sterling, the Earl of Acquisition, the Duke of Desire, surveyed the world with an eager eye. He knew the shape of the world, of course, but in his mind it was not a tube as much as it was a funnel. He sat at one end in anticipation of receiving his reward. All would come swirling inevitably toward him. Nothing so mundane as ‘things.’ A god can have any thing he wants just by imagining. He wanted something more. He wanted power.

As the youngest of the gods, he had the lowest degree of worship. At least initially. But he created something in the people of the world that received the highest level of worship, more than any of his siblings: money! They all underestimated him, yet now more mortals prayed to him than any other god. His blessing manifested in something so simple, but mortals were crazy for it (thanks to him). They would do anything for it; they lied for it, killed for it, bargained away their very souls for it.

The gods have little use for money, but they yearned for worship which equaled power and influence in the immortal realm. He started at the bottom, but he would finish at the top. “Whisper your way to success.” (Acquisitions 9:168)

we have not had heroes beforehand so csyphrett gets a bonus fauna/flora/ore choice

we have not had murder before but I run the thing so I am out of luck

we have not had multiplicity before so DShomshak can have another mythic monster./guardian

we have not had strife before so Enforcer84 can have another Interference

Planning ahead for next year.

We do something more akin to the Graeco-Roman pantheon or the Norse. So all the Gods are family and are more closely inter connected which let's face it we have not done beforehand.

So first pick next year is the initial domain and then we agree how each god is related to another and that will be by consensus. If people want to agree prior to the start of the draft then they will let me know.

Any thoughts ?

Objections ?
