Most people in the comics industry were at least aware of it, and many played it. I have no insider info on this, so it may only be coincidence, but to me the timing has always seemed suggestive. When DC Comics first created the villain character we now know as Deathstroke for the New Teen Titans series, his full handle was "Deathstroke, the Terminator." Not long after that Hero Games published their adventure module titled Deathstroke, and subsequently the character was exclusively called "the Terminator."
