As I recall, was sort of trying to setup a new Knight Rider series with the girl on the show taking over the lead, but didnt get enough ratings. They also did one as part of their action pack series, iirc, but it was more set post apocalyptic, I feel like, and wasnt really a knight rider show, more mad max.

Wikipedia lists the Mad Max future version as Knight Rider 2010, which I don't believe I've ever seen, and doesn't appear to be easily available for streaming. Amazon had a DVD copy, but it's Region 2.

There was a show called Team Knight Rider which lasted a season. Good effort, but it just didn't hold a candle to the original.

Arachnophobia. Still fun.

Such a fantastic climax. The mutant spider is on fire and still running for our hero who is pinned. The pulsating egg sac just started hatching thousands of killers. Daddy spider jump for the hero's face, but a handy nail gun launches the giant flaming spider into his egg sac and spider-napalms all the itsy bitsy hordes of death.

Wifey and I watched Aladdin live action last night. It didn't make the mistake of trying to be the cartoon, and had some new songs. Naomi Scott as Jasmine had a stand out performance for her song Speechless.

Today, we watched Bohemian Rhapsody. It could have been good. Good to great performances. Much verisimilitude, zero verity. They only focused on a few key moments in the band's history (understandable for time), but in nearly every thing were incorrect. Rolling Stone has a good fact check article on it. It's a shame, because it taints a great performance from Rami Malek. I'd say it's worth a watch for the performance from Malek (and others), but don't go in expecting to learn anything about Queen.

We finished the last season of American Housewife and finished it up today. Show went downhill in its final season due to the loss of the show's creator and another producer or director or something, along with three key cast members. At least one of the three cast cited a toxic work environment. It was a watchable season, but losing the actress who played the youngest daughter was huge.

Starting up DS9 again. Trying to get up to Worf joining. We're at the end of the season before he joins and things get really rolling with the Dominion war. I can't remember what number season off hand. It's fun getting to know the characters again. Neither of us have seen the show past the point we're currently at, so looking forward to it.

I recommend the podcast The 7th Rule, which covers each episode of Deep Space 9 from Cirroc Lofton (Jack Sisko) and Aaron Eisenberg (Nog; until Aaron recently died). They're just starting the final season, and have recently remastered all the previous episodes for better sounds quality.

IMO DS9 really hits its stride when Worf joins the cast but - as a big Worf fan - I am probably biased.

Ad Astra

Intelligent Sci Fi with Brad Pitt as an astronaut embarking on a trip to Neptune where his father disappeared years before. dad is played by Tommy Lee Jones. Power surges are causing chaos and the trip is hoped will cure it. It will not be everyone's cup of tea. But it is thoughtful and has more of an idea than some Sci Fi (Independence Day I'm looking at you).

Deadly Force

Wings Hauser is a man kicked off the force for excessive violence called back to LA after the death of a friend's granddaughter. His wife from whom he is getting a divorce is a journalist covering the story of a homicidal maniac terrorising the city. This is a cheap and cheerful film made to show off Mr Hauser.

Edge of Eternity

This is a modern Western with Cornel Wilde playing a deputy who has to investigate several murders. Jack Elam in it which may wrong foot some viewers. Has a climatic battle on an ore carrier over the Grand Canyon. See for this alone. Some great shots of the Canyon though

Robbery

Stanley Baker made film about the Great Train Robbery. A diamond robbery lays the seed money for the robbery but this has a car chase which led on to to the one in Bullitt with Steve McQueen. During said chase some children are injured by the escape car causing the driver to be identified by a school teacher who attacks him in an ID parade. The police know someone is recruiting for a job but not what. The robbery is shown in detail and the police having to work out who, what, where and why. James Booth and Glynn Edwards who were in Zulu with Stanley Baker are also here. Worth rewatching.

Tour de France 2022

The 2022 edition started in Denmark as 60% of the population watched it last year. One of Jumbo Visma's team was Jonas Vingegaard who is Danish and he was given a heartfelt cheer during the team presentation and it clearly got to him. The three stages in Denmark were entertaining with a time trial and Magnus Cort went after the Mountains jersey. Jumbo Visma were after both the Green and Yellow Jerseys with UAE's Pogacar after his third Yellow Jersey in three years. The race developed with UAE losing members to Covid and accident and then Jumbo Visma lost people as well. Van Aert took the lead on day 2 until day 6 but he dropped back to escort Vingegaard after the latter had problems on day 5 over the cobbles. Pogacar won back to back stages and took the Yellow Jersey. Jumbo ambushed him in the Alps and Vingegaard took the Yellow Jersey as a result. Tom Pidcock of Ineos won on Alpe d'Huez and Chris Froome came third. Sadly Froome had to retire with Covid. There was a cat and mouse battle between Pogacar and Vingegaard throughout the race with Geraint Thomas shadowing them. Much the same way he did in 2019 with Bernal. The race overall was excellent as it kept things exciting despite the gap in time that developed. As 2019 was Alaphillippe's race this one was Van Aert who did things that a sprinter, someone competing for the Green Jersey should not be able to do. Van Aert broke Peter Sagan's record for points in the Green Jersey and won the Green Jersey before the end of the race. Jumbo Visma also supported Christophe Laporte to get a stage win as the only Frenchman this year to win a stage and this was 19 so it was quite late. Ineos had most teammates high on on GC and won the team prize. As a result of the battles in the mountain Vingegaard won the mountains jersey but it was a lot closer than it had been in the last two years and the guy who came second could have won it had he got in breakaways and taken points. Vingegaard won the Yellow Jersey overall, Van Aert won the Green Jersey and Pogacar the White for best young rider which he has now held three years in a row. I'm glad that Vingegaard won as he was second last year so he knew the rigours of the race,.

Glastonbury

The festival returned this year and I watched down sets by Billie Eilish (Friday's headliner), Paul McCartney (Saturday's headliner) and Kendrick Lamarr (Sunday's headliner). I also managed to watch sets by Courtney Barnett, Charli XCX, Crowded House, George Ezra, Foals, Haim, Headliners, Jarv Is (Jarvis Cocker using a different ID to differentiate it from Pulp), Jesus and Mary Chain, Lianne a Havas, Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, Lorde, Megan Thee Stallion, Kacey Musgraves, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Pet Shop Boys, Olivia Rodrigo, St Etienne, Skunk Anansi, Supergrass, Rufus Wainwright, Jesse Ware, Jack White, Wind Down, Wolf Alice and Years and Years. The older stuff was what I was more in tune with. McCartney had Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen as guests. Billie Eilish made the most of her headline spot and was very good. Kendrick appeared on stage in white shirt and black trousers wearing a barbed wire crown of thorns. He delivered a powerful but effective set. I would not rush out to buy his music but I would not turn it off if it was on. If I was 20 years younger I night have liked Megan Thee Stallion but the cut of her outfit across the lower abdomen was a bit savage. I already liked Pet Shop Boys, Crowded House, Skunk Anansi, Supergrass, The Jesus and Mary Chain, George Ezra, Haim, Lorde, St Etienne and Noel Gallagher which meant that their sets were a delight. I was aware of Rufus Wainwright and his set was well worth going out to buy his records. Not so Years and Years, far too blatent. I had heard Alison Krauss and Robert Plant before and this was again good. Kacey Musgraves, Olivia Rodrigo and Jesse Ware also gave sets which made tracking down their stuff good.

I'm two episodes into the six episode documentary series, Light & Magic, about the history of effects house ILM. Lawrence Kasdan conducted the interviews and directs. It's an interesting look at the behind-the-scenes work and personalities involved with setting up the special effects house for Star Wars, and how they influenced special effects for later projects. We've been watching Men of a Certain Age (HBOMax) and it's a strange one. It's funny, but also boring. Not sure we'll keep watching it.

On the other hand, Chewing Gum (HBOMax) continues to be bizarre, hilarious, and extremely watchable.

We watched the first episode of Light & Magic (Disney+). Anyone interested in Star Wars and/or special effects has seen so many of these sorts of documentaries, so I was skeptical going in. But the first episode was worth watching, so we'll keep going and see what happens.

I've finished Light & Magic, the last few episodes discuss the transition from traditional methods to CGI, and finally the Volume, a soundstage with computer-controlled LED screens surrounding it and producing camera-ready graphics in realtime, which was first used for The Mandalorian. I'd recommend it for folks interested in the history of movie special effects and ILM's contributions. (Disney+)

Logan: Story of an aging Wolverine, as he tries to assist a young mutant escape from her former captors. A good watch. (Disney+)*

*Recent changes to the American version of Disney+ include a setting for locking out shows with certain ratings, which means that Logan and the two Deadpool movies can be placed on the service, even with their R ratings. Other actions, like making The Orville available on DIsney+ on August 10 make me wonder if Hulu might become fully merged into Disney+ at some point.

We finished S1 of Tokyo Vice (HBOMax). This series "based on a true story" is about a white guy from MO becoming a reporter in Tokyo, and what he finds there as he intersects with the Yakuza and underground culture. Each episode feels like a movie, and it's mostly very well done. I'm not completely sold on the season-ending cliffhangers, but we'll see how they address them in Season 2.
