Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!)

So my brother set me up with this real cute girl at a wedding. And we go back to her suite and fool around. But she wants to make sure I have a condom...which I'm embarrassed to say I carry 4 in my suitcase out of blind optimism IRL. (I've actually have them go past their expatriation date and replaced them once) so we have sex and then she gets a call and kind of hustles out and tells me to wait.

I start cleaning up, get dressed, do the dishes, make the bed. And she comes back with this big, good-looking fellow and introduces me as a friend. He takes my measure and shrugs and I leave without being introduced.

So then I ...and my luggage...run into my ex-wife who is staying at the same hotel and we end up back at her room and curiously enough fool around. And she wants condoms so I go to my bags but I can't find them - turns out I left them in the blonde's room. (now that I think of it she looked a lot like the girl from "She's out of my league" with her hair up)

So off I go to buy some and I run into the blonde again who ditched the big guy and wants to spend more time with me. I feel guilty for having nipped off to be with my ex so we head to a party.

As we're there a few guys make interesting looks and she's getting noticeably nervous. Everyone of the staff seems to know her and she tells me that her mother works at the hotel. Then she tells me the big guy is her ex boyfriend and he wanted back into her life and she had to explain no.

But it seems the eBF has some friends following me (a few took pictures) and he was about to confront me when I woke up.

This dream was weird (for me) in that I don't recall the third person viewing I often do. It was all first person.

Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!)

Weirder than usual, this was a dream where I was moving and trying to find my stuff. In this case, I not only was finding stuff, but cars that had gone missing, computer and phone equipment, etc. I had an embarrassment of riches I had been completely unaware of until this stuff started turning up. This dream took place in the "military school" setting I dream about frequently.

Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!)

The strange thing about this dream was how normal it all was. The dream entirely consisted of me, in my (IRL) bed, watching a big flat screen tv on my bedroom wall (that doesn't exist) as it started to show a picture of a sunrise over Maui, as if the camera was on a beach. The volume came up with the sound of gentle waves, and soft bird sounds started softly and then gradually got louder. The entire dream consisted of a TV that acted like an alarm clock by showing a beach scene to gently wake you up. I want one!

Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!)

In this dream, I was lying in bed looking at a gigantic hole in the wall. I saw thousands of spiders in the hole, dropping down to the basement. I knew I had some powder that would kill the spiders, and all I had to do was pour it down the hole. But the spiders turned into cats climbing up and down the wall, and I saw two of those cats were mine.

Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!)

My dream last night had some weird stuff, but it was mostly sad. The main part of it was that I met a young woman. I didn't know her for very long, but I fell in love with her. Unfortunately, she died before I could tell her how I felt about her. I don't remember if she was killed in an accident or some random act of violence, but it wasn't a peaceful death, and I was filled with bitterness.

A few nights ago I dreamed that I met a woman (another one) on a train who wanted to have sex with me. We went to a hotel for our affair. Her friend was with her, trying to get my lover to go to a play with her instead. I kept my mouth shut, knowing I could easily ruin what looked to be like a sure thing. My instincts were right; the friend left on her own rather disappointed.

Well, the other night. I dreamed of lava. But this was some kind of "special lava". Where I could immerse myself in without dying. And once I crawled out of the pool and it cooled I had some kind of bad@$$ inpenetrable armor.

Hmm, I need to take notes on that one.

Note: THough I remember the process was supposed to have "felt" like a mild sunburn.

Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!)

It started with me helping a tween/teen adjust to being a werewolf. I don't know if I was also a werewolf, but it was somehow my job to help new weres adjust to the changes. That was pretty routine, but the kid had a friend that I suspected was also a were, but kept refusing my help. I even caught the friend starting to change, and not into a wolf, but he ran off. It seemed he was a different kind of were, which was rare but not unknown. Now it was even more important that I help him, since he was doubly different.

I finally tracked him down in an old bomb shelter that local kids used as a hang out, and he admitted why he kept running and refusing my help. He was a were, but not a werewolf. He didn't refuse my help because he was a were, he refused my help because he was a were-unicorn. He was just embarrassed that he, a teenage boy, turned into a unicorn that he kept running away.

Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!)

I once dreamed about turning into a werewolf. Remember the transformation scene in An American Werewolf in London? It was like that but painfully slow. I felt my fingers turning into claws, but it was so gradual I couldn't see any physical changes. I felt my face muscles tensing up. I was in my backyard on my hands and knees howling when I saw one of my dogs looking at me, trying to figure out what I was doing. I tried to warn him away, fearing I would tear him apart if he was there when I finished transforming.

I was helping the Top Gear guys film a segment on American pick-up trucks. I am not a truck person, but while we were stopped to buy gas for the trucks, one of them spray-painted my windshield so I couldn't see where I was going. I guessed it was because I was filling in for James May, and they rarely give him any respect either.

Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!)

This was my dream last night. I'm going to spoiler it because it was pretty gruesome.

I was in a room with my mother and sister when I felt dizzy and needed to lie down. I may have suffered a head injury. My sister said my brain was inflamed. My point of view suddenly shifted to a third-person point of view. I saw myself lying down, and my mother was helping me. I noticed the top of my head was missing. My brain was exposed, but it was connected to some stalk, and it looked like a blackened celery.

I was suddenly at work, although I was feeling sick. I can't remember too much about this part except for throwing away a tissue and feeling some sense of doom approaching.

Then for some reason I had lost my head, literally. I was still alive and could somehow see and move about, but I was headless. I was in my room looking at my severed head lying in the middle of my bed. I had grown a beard, and I thought I should shave it off. I went off to get the razor, brush, and shaving cream. The beard wasn't so long when I returned (and my face looked different now), but I started shaving anyway. I must have been a bit rough because my head flinched. There was no blood, because it had stopped flowing. I muttered an apology and went a bit more gently. I woke up at that point.

Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!)

Dreamt my house caught fire last night. It wasn't actually my house--the fire started because some papers got too close to the fireplace, which I don't have. And it went out by itself. But I woke up with the full adrenaline rush and will be buying a new extinguisher and testing the smoke detectors later today.

A couple of days ago I dreamt I was part of an elite mercenary commando unit storming a building in a tech park. I was carrying at least three long guns and a couple of pistols, but for the duration of the dream I used a little machine pistol that was pretty effective. This was a long dream and I don't remember most of it, but toward the end I had killed so many terrorists and was so low on ammunition I had to pick up a couple more rounds I found off the floor and load them into the gun. Then I was startled by someone who came up behind me, so I spun and fired. It turned out to be a mousy woman, a civilian worker in the building, who took both bullets in the chest and died instantly. I felt horrible about it for the rest of the dream even though my teammates kept assuring me that I did what I had to do.

Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!)

A few nights ago, I dreamt I took the train to go to the Iranistan Embassy to visit the library. After talking to the station agent (she told me I needed a passport to visit the embassy, but not if I was just going to the library), I walked a few blocks and found myself at an outdoor bookstore. I realized I didn't know the way to my destination, but a couple of young boys kindly gave me directions. All I had to do was go to the UN Plaza, follow the line drawn on the ground and turn on Brighton Street. I thanked the lads and set off. On my way, I passed through a grassy knoll where I saw two men dressed as early 20th-century firemen (image of the uniform here).

Maybe I can create an adventure out of this.

Another dream: This one was about a coworker becoming the curator of a forensic science museum/clothing boutique. There were a couple of skulls high up in the top ledge I wanted to examine, as they contained marks made by edged weapons. When I told my sister about this dream, she said she'd "totally shop there."

Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!)

I dreamed last night that I was in a hotel at a convention, and I needed to be in a hotel on the other side of a busy highway. There were no good ways to get across the highway – there were no pedestrian walks, going directly across the highway was suicidal, and there were no overpasses within walking distance.

So I was told that a lot of people went through the underground sewers to get from here to there. It was illegal, but it was convenient and in many ways a fun little underground adventure. So I and a small group of friends unlocked a manhole cover on this side of the highway, climbed down, and we were off.

It was quite a maze down there, though not as filthy as you might think. There were concrete passages ranging in size from small enough that you had to belly-crawl through to large enough to drive a pickup down. Secondary and tertiary tunnels branched off the main line randomly. Some were wet, others were perfectly dry. Conduits and pipes ran along the ceiling, walls, and floor. It was dark in some places, well-lit in others.

The biggest danger down there (apart from getting lost) was getting caught by the sewer workers. They were aware that people were using the tunnels to travel (and to play), and they were not amused. So you had to avoid getting spotted and caught.

The first time we went through the tunnels, we narrowly avoided getting caught by the sewer workers. We came up out of a manhole near another hotel – not the one I wanted to go to, but near enough that I could just walk over.

Then, when I finished what I wanted to do at the hotel, I found another manhole and dropped down. I was confident in my ability to find my way back across the highway to the hotel where I was staying, and I moved through the tunnels with ease. But after a while, I became disoriented. It dawned on me that I had not gone through these tunnels, since I had come up at a different hotel.

I heard voices so I approached them, thinking they were another band of tunnel-explorers, but they were workmen who caught me. I didn’t bother to try to run, knowing the worse they would do is escort me out of the tunnels (which is what I wanted anyway). They asked me where I was going, and I told them the name of the hotel. They laughed and said that I was going the wrong way. They wouldn’t take me all the way to where I wanted to go, but they would take me to a nearby hotel and I could figure my way from there.

While I was waiting for my escort, they caught a little boy, maybe 10 years old. He and I were waiting together and one of the sewer workers came over to talk to the boy. The boy asked for a map of the tunnels, so the worker turned on a big plotter and printed out a full-sized color map for him. I was looking over his shoulder as he worked, and he made a smaller, black-and-white copy for me… but he told me that while I could look at the map, I could not take it with me.

It dawned on me that he wasn’t printing a map of the sewers, but a map of hell and all the secret places and passages through it. The hotels indicated on the map were the various realms of the lords of hell, and the sewer tunnels were secret passages between them. Anyone who had the map could move in and out of hell freely.

The map was not very detailed though, showing only the primary passages. The boy, apparently, had been spending a lot of time here, and was collecting and annotating the maps and somehow bringing them back up to the real world.

...And that gave me the idea for a pretty cool story that I'm going to have to write someday. :)

Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!)

I dreamed that I was visiting a friend in Chicago. They lived in a very nice apartment on the 60th or 70th floor of a tall building in downtown, with a view of the whole city. It was right next to the Sears Tower. I was out on the balcony when I saw a small plane approach the Sears Tower and crash into it. There was a huge explosion, flaming gas spraying everywhere over downtown, and the building began to crack in half and slowly fall.

I told my friend we had to get out -- our building had caught on fire, and I wasn't sure that the top half of the Tower wasn't going to strike our building when it fell. So we ran out to the lobby. There were a bunch of people waiting for the elevators, and I was dumbstruck. "Don't take the elevators!" I said. "Take the stairs."

They were incredulous at my suggestion. "Walk down 60+ flights of stairs? Are you crazy?"

So I dragged my friend to the staircase. Unfortunately, since no one ever used the stairs, they were locked. You could get into them, but there was a musical key. You pushed a button and it would play a song from an old TV show. If you guessed the right show, it would unlock. But this really sucked, since I've never watched much TV and I don't have very many theme songs memorized. A janitor happened by and we begged him to help us unlock the door. He was amused that I was so bad at TV trivia, but he helped us and I dragged my friend down the stairs.

But the staircase was strange. It went down only one floor, and then you had to leave the stairwell and find another stairwell to go down to the next floor. On each floor, pandemonium reigned. One floor, I saw a severed arm on the staircase. I cautiously approached the door, and saw someone lurking on the other side with a knife. I had a knife of my own, so I spun around the doorframe and jammed it into his stomach, shoving him back and running past him.

Another floor, there were zombies. I grabbed a pistol and began shooting them, and slashing at them with my knife, all the while screaming for my friend to run past me and get to the next set of stairs. I fled right behind her and slammed the door shut so they couldn't follow.

On another floor, Darth Vader and some stormtroopers were questioning Princess Leia. I snuck past them and continued down to the next floor. Each floor was like this, with the stairs down becoming harder and harder to find...

I had a dream where I was training to do a fast rope descent at an Army/military base, from these guard rails down to to this giant drainage pipe which is at least one hundred feet below.

I remember asking the soldier in charge if we'd be taught how to check our climbing gear.

Totally random.

Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!)

I'm sick of my dreams. I'm always lost and trying to find my way back home or to a hotel and just getting more lost. I'm always trying to do something and can't and just keep losing things and time is flying by and I can't even get in the shower and brush my teeth. I also dream of being buried in clothes and not being able to breathe. That's my Sleep Apnea.

Like I said, my dreams are all about frustration and not being able to do anything despite hours of frantic effort and I'm sick of them.

Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!)

In my dream, a girl was in a boarding school. It was very oppressive, with a very limited curriculum that was repeated over and over again. I realized that the school was a re-education facility for some minority youth. The girl got into trouble, looking for any window to the outside world, once making it out an attic vent to stand on the roof and look out over the grounds. She was severely punished each time, but kept looking for ways to look away, to the outside world. There was a flashback, to when the girl was captured and separated from her family. Her grandmother tried to spirit her away to safety, but they were caught. Before the soldiers could separate them, the grandmother told her, "Outside. Look outside, nature cannot lie."

Re: I have a dream. (and MAN was it wierd!)

I dreamt I was a CIA operative (or perhaps some kind of agent) working to get into a Russian crime organization. Totally random (again). Also random was me admiring the boss's Strayer Voigt Infinity, and him giving it to me. I also wore a suit, and I think the boss was based off of a 24 character. Later, me and others of his "foot soldiers" were hanging out in the local neighborhood: it was a mix of Hawthorne ("old town" district in Portland) and NYC.

We then went up to this historical house / small mansion, and after somewhat clearing it (finding what looked to be a pregnant woman on a bed, with her insides exposed: she wasn't eviscerated...it was more like she was a living anatomy figure...so, yeah, fantasy), we lounge out in an outdoor backyard that seems to come from the 1920s/1930s. Kind of like something from The Great Gatsby, come to think of it.

I tend to have strange dreams whenever I eat carbohydrates and/or cheeses.
