Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread

Poison:

I think you're a very talented artist.

I particularly like your pencil drawings, and I'm very impressed by the mood and spirit of your superhero pieces. Your characters all seem to have that undeniably heroic look, that "larger-than-life" or "something special" visual quality that makes them stand out...even when all they're doing is standing there.

No-one would ever mistake one of your heroes for one of the "extras". They're heroes, they're special, and it shows.

(I've never seen your version of a supervillain, but I'm guessing that you'd be equally capable of depicting the dark side.)

Sweet man' date=' thank you so much! I can't wait to see the finished version. This is simply amazing![/quote']

Not a problem I did my best to get the costume as close to your sketch as possible (which was extremely helpful by the way)... I tried to make him muscular, but not chiseled like you asked. :)

Thanks to everyone who replied. I am glad you like it. I hope to have the inks posted today for you all. The inks ~should~ make things "pop" more.

:) I am not sure when Shinobi will have the colors done, but I will definitely post them here and give him credit for them. :D

I love the detail in the foreground with Knockout's sketch. Very nicely done...

Still not sure what's seeming off about Matrix for me. I keep focusing on the draped cape pose, but I can't pinpoint why it feels off. It may be her legs seem out of proportion (maybe)?

No, it is her head and neck... They didn't turn out right, and I was in a rush with a deadline so I said screw it and didn't fix it. If you cover her head and neck with your hand and look at the rest of the body it is all fine... Her head is too small and the neck is not positioned in the right spot, it is shifted a little too much to the left. I was drawing it fast, and didn't notice it until it was too late. :(

It is not "horrible", but just like you noticed "it doesn't look right", and that is because it isn't right, heh heh... It was a freebie for someone, so it wasn't worth the time and effort to go back and fix it... I would never let that pass on a commissioned piece, or a piece for myself, and would have reworked it in those cases.

That is why I said earlier that I was disappointed with it... It would have looked better without that full costumed pose. If I had more time I would have made a cool action shot instead. But odd poses require more thought and effort to render and set up, and thus takes much more time... And there was no time.

You can really tell the difference between one of my drawings that is rushed and my normal ones... I can at least... I spend a lot more time on them and do my best to make sure that doesn't happen. :)

No problem bigbywolfe, when the colors are done by my friend, I will post them here for you.

@BobGreenwade:

Well, I am currently sketching Soundwave from the Rainbow's End Campaign... Pencils will be done today most likely (barring wife aggro). I am doing a special effects background for this one. I think it will look pretty cool. What I have drawn so far looks pretty good. I like the pose I roughed out.

After this there are only two more PCs in that campaign that I could possibly draw. The Fear Thing (and Alona Seed), and Damien Hellfire.

I have a few commission requests that I am waiting for details on, so they will hit the top of my drawing list once I get the details.

Then I play the what do I feel like drawing game again... heh heh. I was reading Secret Six (by DC Comics), and there was a cool character in there that got me thinking... Vampire Villain/Hero next? :)

I can't wait to see Soundwave... if he is even half as good as the rest of your work, he should look amazing! Can't wait to see him, and his background.

Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread

rival team has a sound based hero also

Legend will need to see how well he sings

Legend is a sidhe muse/limited range sound based attacks and a demi brick

Sings? He doesn't... at least not so anyone could hear him. His powers absorb sounds around him, including his own voice. No one, including himself, has heard his actual voice since he was 13. When he "speaks", he either uses ASL, or projects the sounds he has stored as his "voice".
