Missionary Man

This member of the group does not appear to be dangerous but can bring about a natural disaster if he or the others are threatened. He prefers to talk his way out of any combat but he knows that if the prisoner escapes there will be trouble and that is the reason he sticks around.

He is somewhat disturbed by publications referring to a place called Rappan Athuk as the section referring to 'not going down the well' could indeed apply to the circumstance that he and the others face.

Thunder in the Night

This Indian has sonic and lightning powers. He can blind a foe and can floor opponents with his powers. He is used by the group to attack those who wish to free the prisoner and dissuade them by getting at them some distance from the site.

Brood is a dark, dystopic figure with a black-caped costume, a grimacing cowl, and an affinity for nighttime and rooftops. He is known for his edgy patter, his barely-restrained mental health issues, and his fighting skills, gadgets and theatricality. Also, his penchant for teen or child sidekicks dressed in flashy colorful costumes. Though the rumors of the underworld would make him out as a demon or powerhouse, among the super-powered set he is known to be basically unpowered, though certainly a very exceptional unpowered human.

He likes them to think that.

Under Stately Dayne Manor is a cave, a Brood-cave, where the hero does his work. All of it. All of him. Hundreds of Broods that design new costumes, assemble new smoke grenades, tune up the grappling swingline, work on the Broodmobile, and wait their turn to fight and die for justice. An exceptional athlete, a gifted inventor, and a superb detective, he is also a duplicator of the highest order, unbeknownst even to his own teammates. Whenever he fights for the USAT, and is struck by a lightning bolt or hovertank or carbide chainsaw, his teammates see him fly backwards and disappear in a cloud of smoke, only to reappear later from the shadows and attack the unwitting enemy. His fellows believe he is just that damn tricky, stealthy, and skilled. Rather, the Brood just lost another brother, and another reason to mourn and another reason to enact revenge on criminals everywhere.

His very most well-kept secret is the teen sidekicks: they are the results of his failed attempts to clone himself younger and sustain his career further. There have been rather a lot of them.

Yellow Light

Once a crash test dummy the Yellow Light became a galactic law enforcer with the Yellow Light Contingent. His yellow energy has a weakness for the colour green for reasons that don't seem to make any sense whatsoever. Jordan Hall is Yellow Light and he tries to uphold the beliefs and goals of the Yellow Light Contingent

Vape

Ramon Carlos is a mutant who has the ability to control and shape the smoke he exhales while vaping for a variety of offensive and defensive effects. A Twitch streamer and Youtube content creator known for his snarky attitude, over the top rage quits and contentious relationship with his followers. He was a member of USAT during the time they reformed and headquartered in Cleveland and were led by the Saturnian Personpursuer and also included new young heroes Bohemia and Titanium. It was largely considered a low point for the team.

HydroHuman

A member of the rare sub-sub-sea race (who live in the oceans under the ocean sea bed), HydroHuman is immensely strong, bracingly swift and immune to the vast majority of environments, even being able to live in boiling magma for a time and utterly immune to cold. He also has psychic powers. All he requires is a glass of water once in a while. He's one of the powerhouses of the team, but somehow, the press never gives him any respect...

Soldier John

This golem is a life size representation of a military man based on the toy, comic, cartoon and film of the same name. He can use most weapons and a variety of ancient and futuristic equipment including vehicles. He is one of the group who can engage in lethal combat and come out the other side. He is protective of the others and willing to sacrifice his existence if need be.

Mannequin

Average height. Average proportions. Face a pleasingly blank average. He/she could be anyone or no one. More often than not, the latter.

If you were to pay attention, the face barely moves, the body parts do not sway, the artificialness would be obvious. But you won't pay attention. No one does.

The Mannequin can go anywhere, as long as there are others around. In a crowd, he/she is invisible, and even alone the eye seems to slide off. Does this strange being even have wants or needs? No one is sure...including itself. But give it a task, and it will see what can be done.

(Realize it's not exactly a toy, but it seemed to fit...)

Among the golem-animated toys, there is power and skill and strength. But the Melog System Construction Kit takes the cake for versatility. These plastic bricks can reshape themselves into thousands of configurations, scooting around on wheels or walking along. As spies they are not as effective as the Mannequin, as combatants they will never beat Soldier John, and they're not as generally useful as Rainbow Sprinkles. But they can shape themselves into whatever the team needs, and in a pinch they can just scatter themselves across the floor and inflict terrible damage on anyone who walks over them.

Jack Straw

Gale Guthrie was a Deadhead hippie who was happy living on his small farm and growing his crops, including a particularly potent strain of weed. However word got out and one night he was visited by the Stark brothers. Guthrie didn't resist and gave up his crop willingly, but the vicious thieves gunned him down anyway. Guthrie's spirit didn't rest however and animated Gunthrie's hemp scarecrow. As Jack Straw he put an end to the Stark brothers sending them to prison and then remained in this plane to help balance the scales of karma and just keep on keepin' on. As a scarecrow he can absorb damage and is able to recover wounds and even pull pieces of his body back together if torn apart. However fire is his ultimate weakness. His touch can induce a mellowing trance like state much akin to a very potent high. He has a strict code against killing and he avoids combat whenever possible.

The (Cowardly) Lyin'

Leo Tamaski grew up on the streets of Brooklyn, wheeling and dealing and making money where he could, and getting beaten up more often then even a small, sickly kid should. Until one day, when two guys were about to give him a good thrashing for daring to operate on their patch, Leo said "Why are you beatin' on me fer? Your buddy was the one rippin' ya off!"

As a lie, it was pathetic, but the best Leo could come up with. So he was stunned when the two men turned on each other and completely forgot about Leo.

Since, Leo has realized that he has some kind of psychic powers. People believe when he tells them things - but only when it's a lie. That might be a mental block on Leo's part, but he doesn't realise that.

Leo's also trying to turn a new leaf. He always idolized the capes - now he hopes to be one. If only he wasn't so abjectly terrified of being on the receiving end of violence...

Given that's the four and no one seems to be jumping up and down to do Toto, I'll name the new group:

The Golden Agers

Four heroes of the 1930s and 40s who have left retirement to try and sort out this crazy world. Most should have some kind of age resistance or other reason for being operative 90 years after their heyday, obviously.

I have one I posted before but is perfect.

Meet Glacia.  In 1940 Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of a local fisheman who found a body washed up on shore.  It looked human, but was very pale and in some places looked almost blue. When she grabbed him to pull him up the beach, she almost fell unconscious from the fierce cold that ran through he body.  The RCMP came to investigate and the matter was closed quietly.  Fast forward a couple of months and she discovered her first super power - Growth- when she helped rescue people from a winter fire.  Cue the return of the RCMP and a member of a NA super team that were fighting criminals and spies on the home front.  She was asked to join, and being a patriotic Canadian, she did so.

In the course of her adventures she found out she also has control over ice (like Iceman) and so got her Code Name.  After the war she started to suspect there was a third ability, reduced aging.  By 1949 she still looked like a teenager even though she was 28 by her birth certificate.  People started to talk, so she disappeared. (it helped that members of her team were good with getting new secret IDs) and went to school.  She studied photograghy and soon had a little studio in Vancouver.  But she came out of retirement in the 1060's to help stem the tide of rising super crime on the west coast. then she disappeared again (she needed a break she said).   Now she moved to Toronto and again set up a new studio.  By now she looked like she was in her mid 20's even though she was pushing 60.  She did come out of retirement again, but only to aid a new team setting up in the city and give them advice (she was technically a reserve member and is to this day).

Now close to 100 but barely looking 30, Glacia has come out of retirement again.  She's made her money, invsted it wisely and most of her famitl has passed away.  She needs to get active again, and the current state of the world makes her believe it needs superHEROS again.

Glacia was a V&V NPC rolled up who when I rolled for level was lvl 19.  Thus the long backstory to justify such an ungodly level!

There is a reason that Captain America and other stories reference a super soldier project because there were super soldier projects in Germany, Britain, America an Russia. And some of them had a degree of success which is again a reason for the stories. The British success was Commando X although how he achieved powers and his real identity are still classified. He was active certainly between 1941-45 and then all mention of him disappears. There is some indication that he was involved in the Malayan emergency, The Korean War, the Cyprus Emergency and the Mau Mau Uprising but not the Suez Crisis.

He is able to use most weapons, knows French, Spanish, German and Russian and can survive being shot or stabbed. He is also up to date on modern military skills like HALO (High Altitude, Low Opening) jumps. He acts as the reconnaissance and security expert of the group mainly and can kill as that is what he was trained for. Why he is still active at his actual age again is unclear although he has said things like Leprechaun blood and Troll DNA.
