Without fail, there is mention of Fred Rogers, Steve Irwin, or Bob Ross. Sometimes there are others- Bill Nye, for example. Having heard him explode on more rhan one occasion, I don't know how I feel about that choice), or Dolly Parton. And on and on. The first time I saw "Hermione" spelled, I couldn't even make the connection between the name and the spelling. Too many competing root languages, I suppose. Tolkien based The Lord of the Rings on Nordic mythology with some Biblical elements thrown in. Eragon (at least the first book) is Star Wars, full stop. Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire is the War of the Roses with dragons and zombies. Sometimes originality is less important than having good source material to borrow from, I guess. I took her to the vet yesterday for a blood test, and she was pretty upset the rest of the day. Today I got some good news about the results. There was a lot of irreplaceable history packed into those 3-4 square miles. Not to mention the homes of thirteen thousand people. I am not going to link it here or in the threads for Random Videos or Creepy things. Partly because it gave me a visceral reaction then and it haunts me still. If you want to see it yourself it is The Beast Westcountry Tales. It was made in my neck of the woods which is one of the reasons it unnerved me and we had the mystery of the big cat on the Moors, possibly a panther, at the time.
