Babylon 5 Spoilers

My friend and I often described Babylon 5 as the answer to the PC ST:TNG, and often having endings that seemed very TNG and then having the B5 ending. Deathwalker was probably the best example of this, though the episode with the child who had a genetic disorder that didn't allow it to breathe right and was curable by modern science his parents wouldn't allow was another.

Kosh in that episode had one of my favorite lines from the series, when the child's parents asked him to intervene on their behalf after the humans decided to treat their child over their refusal, which would spark a major diplomatic incident: "The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote."

At the start of Babylon 5 Delenn is a member of the Minbari Grey Council but is forced from it during the run.

And ended up breaking it. As was prophesied.

Susan Ivanova fell in love with Talia before her real personality was revealed.

Talia was the real personality. The Control personality was implanted like a viral code that would take over under appropriate conditions.

Laurel Takashima was originally intended to be Control and the person that shot Garibaldi in the back.

Londo's innocent wish that the Centauri become great again is what draws the Shadows under Mr Morden to back the Centauri regime and precipitate the war between the Minbari and the Shadows.

There was nothing innocent about that wish. Londo knew what the implications were, and he didn't care.

It was sad, both Narn and Centauri wanted to rebuild their crushed empires, to be great as they once were.  Londo was willing to do awful things to get there -- and so was G'Kar.  They wanted their homeland back, they wanted their pride back, at all costs.  At different times in the show either one seemed tremendously villainous or heroic, sympathetic and unlikable.  It was verywell handled.

Agreed to some extent. I believe that was a "be careful what you wish for" moment. At that time Londo didn't see a way for the Centauri to regain their former power. But when that path became clear he was a willing participant, albeit with reservations. I believe he knew the implications, but didn't truly understand them until faced with the reality. But he certainly didn't understand who and what the Centauri were getting into bed with, until too late.
