  1. Re: Extra Large Bases - How to design... [5th Ed Champions] If you as GM really feel he needs to shell out the points for this (not all GMs do, but it's your show), he should only be made to pay for what is truly his. Make the base and its grounds big enough to encompass the portion(s) of the island and surrounding waters he unquestionably controls. As for the inhabitants, only those that are loyal to him or are under his absolute control by other means need to be purchased as Followers.
  2. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Let me get this straight, he hopped up on the table, dropped his trousers, and took a piss on the chairman? A: Oh, that was just Private Wilhelm again. Nobody gives a damn what happens to him anyway.
  3. Re: 6th edition As I've said elsewhere, I'm confident in my choice to stick with my 5th Edition books. I've seen and read the 6th Edition core books in the store, and to be frank, the few changes in there that even come close to what I would consider good ideas just aren't good enough to make up for the things I detest about the new edition. From my perspective, it's an epic fail.
  4. Inspired by the A-1 coloring job FryDaddy did with the 4th Ed Champions team, I scanned the picture of C.L.O.W.N.'s fearless leader, Merry Andrew, into Photoshop this evening and thought I'd try my hand at coloring him. The blue and yellow color-scheme for Andrew's costume is based on what information was available in the book (Classic Organizations). As I have free time available, I'll scan the other members of C.L.O.W.N. and work my Photoshop magic on them as well. In the meantime, enjoy!

  6. Re: Jokes A tourist visiting Thialand attempted to pass through an airport turnstile sideways. Turns out he was going to Bangkok.
  7. (Happy Thanksgiving to all WWYCD readers) Thanksgiving Day is starts out as it always does: the Thankgiving Day Parade, families making preparations for the day's feast, and more than a few people just about setting their kitchens or driveways on fire trying to deep fry their bird in a big vat of peanut oil... Then suddenly, there's a massive rumbling in downtown Campaign City. Gob-Lar, the giant, radioactive mutant turkey has been turned loose upon the city while his demented creator is somewhere cackling as he watches the carnage live on the news. WWYCD?
  8. Re: Power Armor Characteristic Purchase Not to quibble, but you seem to be mistakenly using the WWYCD ("What Would Your Character Do?") prefix when you should be using the How to Build prefix. Please correct that in the future.
  9. Re: Answers & Questions Q: How did you heal from that horribly infected wound? A: "Recalculate this, b****!" BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!
  10. Re: Life Model Decoy? Depends on what your "Beta Unit" (to use Last Starfighter terminology) could reasonably be expected to have to do while your away. What job does the hero have outside his adventuring career? His Beta needs to be programmed to do that job well enough that it won't get him fired for incompetence after it FUBARs some important work project. Who does the hero hang out with and/or have dealings with on daily basis? The Beta needs to be programmed to recognize and interact with them appropriately.
  11. Re: Is it worth converting Just speaking for myself: I've seen the 6th Edition core books in store, I've looked through them (out of morbid curiousity mostly), and I feel confident in my decision to stick with 5th Rev. The few changes that even come close to what I would consider a good idea simply are not good enough to make up for the things I absolutely detest about 6th Edition.
  12. Re: Transplanted Immortality If we're talking about something similar to the Gold Cross Policy from Car Wars, it all hinges on whether or not human science can produce the means to 1) archive a human's memories outside the brain and 2) grow a complete, adult clone replacement body without it taking 18+ years. If there's actually anyone out there in the scientific community who's working on these, I wish them all the luck. And yes, I would be willing to pay for such a service if it were available and I had the money for it.
  13. Re: WWYCD: I've been relaunched/Rebooted! All Characters: Depends on the changes. If I liked things the way they were and hate what was done to me, I might break the fourth wall and dopeslap whoever's responsible or go search for the reset button.
  14. Re: Repercussions of mass-producing comic book technology Assuming it became available in the civillain market, force field technology could revolutionize security, home or otherwise. If the bank gets robbed, one of the tellers just hits the hidden switch to activate a force field between them and the robber for protection or even cage the criminal with one until the cops can come cart the loser off to the slammer. Imagine the frustration of your typical burglar, home invader, or Jehovah's Witness when they find their access to your property denied by an invisible dome of energy, doubly so if said dome has a "backlash" to it as well...
  15. Re: Headlines part 2 Headline corrected.
  16. Your character is reading the newpaper again and comes across the following headlines: New York City--Local Wrestler Pins Armed Robber Peter "The Spiderman" Parker is being hailed as a hero after thwarting the escape of a deranged robber who had just held up the ticket office at gunpoint. "I was right there and I knew I could take the creep down easily." Parker is quoted as saying in an interview. He further commented: "Besides, if that lunatic had gotten away and hurt some innocent person afterward, I'd have to live with that on conscience for the rest of my life." Parker's Uncle and Aunt, who have raised him since the tragic loss of his parents, are quite proud of Peter, as is his high school sweetheart, Mary Jane. The robber, who had a long history of violent criminal activity, has earned his third strike and has been sentience to life in prison. Gotham City--Prominent Physician Shoots Mugger In Self-Defense Dr. Thomas Wayne, along with his wife and young son, were on their way home from a night at the movies when they were accosted by two armed men who demanded Dr. Wayne's wallet, his wife's purse, and her jewelry. Unfortunately for the two assailants, Wayne is a life-long member of the NRA and a licensed concealed carrier. Before the muggers could react, the good doctor drew his own pistol and gave one of them a .38 caliber lobotomy at point blank range. The second suspect fled the scene but was later arrested by Gotham City PD. The deceased criminal has been identified as one Jack Napier, whom Officer James Gordan described as "[a] bad seed, loved to hurt people. He wasn't very bright either, so I can't say I'm that surprised to hear the joker met his end like this." How does your character react to what he/she/it is reading?
  17. Something I'm working on for a villains campaign, some common archtypes for criminal henchmen who will be available for hire: #1: The Palooka Also Called: The Bull Moose, The Tough, The Goon General Description: Heavy on brawn, light on pretty much everything else. Usually a fellow who spent a lot of time in prison bulking up and lifting weights. These are the most commonly available criminal henchmen and the sort you hire when you just need muscle and don't particularly care if they have brains or finesse. Typical Abilities: High strength and toughness (for a normal). #2: The Nutjob Also Called: The Wacko, The Fruitcake (as in nutty as a...), The Psycho General Description: These guys live for the opportunity to cause chaos, mayhem, and destruction... though getting paid for it is a nice side benefit. Most in the underworld will be reluctant to hire them due to their volatile, unpredictable personalities. The more skilled Nutjobs usually find employment simply because anyone with the same chops who is willing to work for the same pay scale is in all likelihood just as crazy. Typical Abilities: A disturbingly high percentage of these characters are skilled at committing arson and/or using explosives.
  18. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Hey, Piggy #1, why are you shaking like that? A: Rectum? It damned nearly killed him.
  19. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Bub thought it would be funny to see Uncle Lou's reaction to 2 Girls 1 Cup? How did that go over? A: "Lord Vadar, the rebel ship just jetisoned an escape pod with no life readings aboard. We've tractored it into an empty cargo bay and we're sending a squad of Stormtroopers in to check it out."
  20. Re: Eccentric but plausible ways a character could be rich? Assuming he or she is not adverse to being a "sellout," there's always merchandising: T-shirts, hats, action figures, breakfast cereal, sports bottles, coffee mugs, etc.
  21. Re: Force Fields As someone who still uses 5th edition, I just use Force Field.
  22. The question is simple: Under what circumstances would you character chase after a retreating enemy and under what circumstances would he/she consider it just as well to let the coward run away?
  23. Re: Reduced Penetration (speaking as 5th Edition player here) The Reduced Penetration limitation is one of the reasons I keep more than one color of dice in my dice bag. In the case of the RKA 4d6 RP example, I might use two red dice and two white dice to roll the damage.
  24. Re: Life Support and NNDs (5th Revised) Longevity useless? Really? A villian I currently have on the drawing board would beg to differ. He's a time/entropy manipulator with (among other things) the power to kill someone by rapidly aging them to death: RKA 3d6, NND (defense is Life Support [Longevity: Immortality]; +1), BODY (+1), (135 Active Points); No Range (-½). Cost: 90 Points. Even just for something like this, that 5 points of Longevity would to be a wise investment.
