  1. Re: The Ultimate Roleplayer Actually, I could see someone who went really deep into his character taking Shape Shift (Mental) with RSR: Acting to reflect the altered personality. Repped! EDIT: That will happen when I can rep you again.
  2. Since Hero is about building concepts, how would you translate a good roleplayer into characteristics and skills? In thinking about this, the following list suggested itself to me. I Can Play Any Character: Acting I Can See Through Any GM Plot: Deduction Who Needs Hero Designer?: Lightning Calculator I Know The Rules: KS: (Game System) NPCs Love Me: Seduction Rules Lawyering Persuasion Expert Dice-Slinger: Gambling (Dice Games) Getting The GM To Approve A Character Write-Up: Bureaucratics Any other ideas?

  4. Re: Order of the Stick There's a new comic up, and the final judgment is in. I enjoyed reading this one. The latest comics have sure been heavy on the exposition. I was wondering how others felt about a lot of wordage in comics.

  6. Re: STRONGHOLD -- What Do You Want To See? Shouldn't this thread be Stickied?
  7. Re: STRONGHOLD -- What Do You Want To See? This is my list of things I'd like to see, some of them already mentioned, so this would be considered an additional vote for them. 1) Super Guards: Is the prison staff all normals? Are they PRIMUS agents? Maybe a brick or an energy projector able to do containment-style force walls could help keep control. Perhaps a retired Silver Age hero is the warden, or (feeding into my second request) a Silver Avenger. Do they use battlesuit technology? 2) Who's in charge here?: How does Stronghold fit in the scheme of the CU justice system? Is it under the federal prison system's control? Does PRIMUS control it? 3) Guantanamo Bay: How does the ACLU feel about a place like Stronghold? Are there protests against Stronghold by the public? Is the media biased against it? Do prisoners try and use the media to gain sympathy? 4) Solitary confinement: Is every prisoner kept locked in a cell all day? Are they allowed to mingle with each other for meals or exercise periods like non-powered inmates can? I assume there will be some inmates that are so powerful/dangerous/psychotic that they can't be allowed out of solitary. 5) Gender: Are prisoners sorted by gender into separate cell blocks/levels? Are they grouped by power-level, ignoring gender? 6) Levels: Are there varying security levels in Stronghold? The real hard-cases would be down in the lower levels, but less dangerous prisoners would be on a different level of the facility from them. 7) Cliques: Assuming prisoners are allowed to mingle, cliques would form. The VIPER types would likely hang together, and I could see DEMON inmates doing that too. Would the mutants find solidarity together? Would the genius types have their own 'nerd' clique? What about martial artists like Green Dragon? Would they group themselves together? Basically, what sort of social network exists in Stronghold? 8) New fish: What's it like for the first-time supercriminal inmate? Maybe an example supervillain of this sort. I'm sure I'll have others, but those will do for now.
  8. Re: Old Enemies Shadowblade: An intelligent, nearly-indestructible sword with the ability to take over the weak-minded and use them as its puppets. Perhaps one of the parents once owned the famed Shadowblade and cast it aside for a more manageable magic weapon. Now it wants revenge on its former owner, their blood-kin, and anyone else associated with them, and it will re-appear through a series of dupes, the only thing they have in common is the sword in hand.
  9. Re: Best Published Superhero Adventure? I'll second the votes for Day of the Destroyer and The Great Super-Villain Contest. Both were plotted like a good comic book story for me.
  10. Re: A Thread for Random Videos I wasn't sure if this had been posted before. I just saw it on Youtube: .
  11. If a character has two Absorptions linked together to act as a single compound power, would each of them lose points (five from one and five from the other)? Or would the compound power structure cause them to act as a single instance of absorption and lose five points total?
  12. Re: Gestalt Now Available In Color It looks like my pdf purchase will have to suffice for now.
  13. Re: The Ultimate Summoner Okay, so a certain amount of... ahem... intimacy is required for them to get added to the pool. That does prevent it from being stalker fodder, I suppose. "He dated me once, and now he can produce a clone of me anytime he wants, to do anything he wants. Having them be NCM-compliant super agent sorts works as a +1/2 Advantage level, although an argument can be made for +1, I suppose. The character essentially has a supply of henchwomen he can conjure from thin air, complete with equipment and outfit needed for the task. I don't see a need to add the additional +1 Advantage for Specific Being. It sounds like it could be a fun power.
  14. Re: The Ultimate Summoner Well, he did say he wanted them to sometimes appear in something... sleeenky, so make of that what you will. It's an interesting power build. If I understand it correctly, he's essentially constructing tulpas using patterns based on his memories of exes. How does he define an ex though? One date, and they become part of his pool? So he can have Ninja Ann, Telepath Ann or Brick Ann?
  15. Re: Young Gods stride Creation Campiagns? One of the campaign ground rules to think about is how worshippers affect the gods. Do the gods have powers that are independent of the number and faith of their worshippers? If so, you can build a young godling more straight up as far as powers go. If worship strengthens a god, perhaps all gods receive a freebie Aid of some kind to reflect that, or they could buy their powers with Limitations to reflect the strength of the worship received. To promote player harmony, it is probably best to have them be part of the same pantheon or deific "family." I have done godling campaigns involving lower-power deific beings from different groups like valkyries and greek demigods, but it takes more work to get everyone cooperating.
  16. Re: Young Gods stride Creation Campiagns? One thing to consider about gods is how they affect the world. Can a PC create a new race or modify an existing race? Create new creatures? Build a fortress that can withstand godly might?
  17. Re: Build Question: Alethiometer Witchcraft of the Champions has something similar to this on her write-up in Champions: News of the World. Basically, it's the Deduction skill through a Bulky OIF with Extra Time required. You could do something similar with a KS: (Everything?), I would imagine.
  18. Re: Lightning reflexes vs Dex I've also seen campaigns where, all else being equal (DEX, INT, SPD, etc), heroes go before villains.
  19. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From last night's session of my Traders of the Spinward Marches campaign: The crew of the Arcadia is invited to attend a state dinner on Collace after safeguarding Duke Norris' niece. Bennington, ex-spy and the only one with the High Society skill, blows his roll. "I've been hanging around these guys too long. I can't remember which fork to use." Cannon, professional soldier, doesn't even bother rolling (I gave everyone an untrained 6- to know the basics of table manners). He starts eating off his own plate and the plates of anyone around him that has something interesting on it. Amusingly, Lupo, the ex-pirate Vargr starpilot, is the only one to try an untrained check and succeed (rolling a 5). Not wanting to push his luck, the player refuses an offer to try Conversation at an 8-. Later, the group is in more relaxed surroundings (the local Seedy Dive at the Mille Falcs starport). Grigori, the Captain's nemesis rolls in with a small group of SolSec agents. Things head quickly to a fight. After people start drawing knives and other melee weapons, Bennington quips, "Good thing we brought a cannon to a knife fight."
  20. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From the last session of my Traveller Hero campaign: GM (Me) describing a breakaway Sword Worlders religious colony: "They're like Amish Nazis." Lupo, after successfully using his Vargr senses to scope out a sniper hidden in the snow and opening up on full autofire: "Shoot at my tracer rounds!"

  22. Re: Shoujo Ninja Hero I would suggest Jubei-chan, The Ninja Girl for a possible source material.
  23. Re: Quick thoughts on Gestalt I have it on order, so IT WILL BE MINE! (Just as soon as it makes it through the sloooowwww distribution pipeline to The Compleat Strategist)
