Check out the movie The Highway Men for a much less glamorous portrayal of B&C.

starblaze got a reaction from Pariah in Where is Icicle?
Her whole reason for being a thief is because she was born poor and thus wants to live life in the best highest lifestyle possible and she has a little brother that she was taking care of. I believe that she was escaping an abusive father who hated her because she was a mutant.

Hey, just got back from NTRPG and I ran Champions 4e and would like to run a Champions/Hero System game at my house now that restrictions are being lifted. Anyone interested please PM me.

starblaze got a reaction from Christopher R Taylor in How common are Total Psychological Complications?
There were several times that Captain America killed, even after WW2. One time he used a gun to kill a terrorist because he was going to fire into a crowd and possibly kill more people. Cap is a soldier after all and if he must he will kill.

starblaze got a reaction from Ninja-Bear in Champions Icons
Like mentioned before, Starburst and Crusader. They are in the first four editions of the game the example how to make a character for Champions. They will always be what I think of when I think of Champions.
Ankylosaur has the best origin ever, powers by way of mail order!

What I loved about Perez is how he is able to make women faces look different. Take Scarlet Witch and Firestar, they are both beautiful women but they have different looks, Wanda has an angler face whereas Angelica has a more rounder look.
True, you can do the same thing with a Multipower with variable slots.

There is a Champions 5th edition adventure called Sharper than a Serpents Tongue that deals with a virus that turns people into snake monsters.

starblaze got a reaction from Eyrie in Heroic Narratives, Or I Love Champions But...
I GM and have occasionally played in two games that use a hero/fate/whatever option. That is Amazing Adventures and BASH. AA uses fate points that can keep you from getting hit, effect the plot in a minor way as well as other stuff. BASH uses hero points and hero dice. Hero points let you spend dice to help with a success. Let's say you need just 2 more points to keep that atom bomb from going off, you can do that. Hero allows you do things like appear somewhere that would not normally appear at, add to a die roll by rolling an extra die, and my favorite, the power stunt that allows to do something unique with your one time in a creative way. The key to these mechanics contrivances is that they are finite. You don't have an unlimited number of these so they need to be used judiciously. You basically save that mechanic for the time you need it.
So far it has worked out fine.

starblaze reacted to Greywind in Heroic Narratives, Or I Love Champions But...
Was it awesome? No. The character was competent. He was very good at what he did. Guns were never supposed to be part of what he did. But the constant failures trying to use a gun in combat became part of the game and commentary. With hero points that never would have happened. You roll the dice and take your chances and role-play the results.
"I've got his gun. I'm going to shoot the other guy."
"Just throw the gun at him!"
"Why?"
"Because you want to hit him!"

Some of my best relationships came out of gaming. I met my wife at a badly run Champions game, she ended being more interesting then the game we were playing in.

starblaze got a reaction from steriaca in Champions 2050
There was a Star Hero adventure called the Helmet of Doctor Destroyer. In the adventure there is a reference to Dr. D dying from a simple heart attack because of old age. One weakness he had was that he couldn't extend his life span and eventually died of natural causes.

Reminds me of World War Z where people had to retrained for more practical job because being a systems analyst or have a degree in marketing wouldn't be any help in the new world.

starblaze got a reaction from pinecone in 1st Edition Champions review on Save for Half
So after hearing numerous reviews of Marvel FASERIP and Villains and Vigilantes we finally get some love for Champions. I did enjoy the podcast although I didn't agree with everything they said. Still nice to see my longtime favorite supers game get some attention.
