  1. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Night of the Comet on SciFi today, I hadn't noticed before but Robert Beltran/Choctae(sp) from Voyager was the lead male actor. I forgot just how funny that movie is for a zombie flick. Plus it had Catherine Mary Stewart, a personal dream-girl of mine in the day.
  2. Re: Unofficial Welcome Mat (For New Members) I say hello to any and all that are new here. I hope we can be useful when you have questions and all that.
  3. Re: why the UNITED NATIONS? (for global super-agency) Ok, that made me laugh. Rep you if I can for the laughter.
  4. Re: Coming back to HERO... Best thing for you and your players is as the Ghost man said.....jump in and wing it. Learn as you go, that worked for me 25+ yrs ago when I started with Champions.
  5. Re: Cleaning Out the Attic... I wonder if they ae worth anything to a collector? I'd find out. Ohhh BTW, your lucky. Have fun readind and creating.
  6. Re: Age of Sail Alternate History idea I thought about this last night and a few things came to mind.... If Drake had done as you said, consider the movement of so many Scots to Southern US and Mountain area's there-in. If Drake had kept Scotland an indepent nation not part of a Greater Britian, the history of the USA might have been very different. Will add move as I consider this.
  7. Re: The Interogation Skill as a "Lab" And it had to be you.....well played.
  8. Re: Speedsters: Playing a true speedster I have learned takes a very different skill set than say an EBer. I just got started in playing them again. One of my first C's I even did was called Firebird. He had a flame aura/force field and ran/flew very fast for a 250 C. Ahh the simpler days.
  9. Re: why the UNITED NATIONS? (for global super-agency) In the world I am playing in now, an international group was created. Due to those world-spanning criminal groups, those super villains with world domination plans, plus the odd alien invasion now and again. What was created after years of game play is the EDF: Earth Defense Forces. It is a non-governmental body, which draws from all nations that wish to contribute, no nation is forced to. It pays its own way due to member Heroes, having created certain technologies that are sold to the governments and the public. It has a governing board that has members from the major world powers, but these are not leaders of any nation, and they do have influence in what is done. What happened is that our world is different from the CU's. Supers or as all are called, on our world, Mutants, did alter the world by just existing. They altered the history of the world by just doing what Heroes do. National and International Laws changed to include these Mutants, over time. Many nations, most of the modern ones that in the CU and IRL, would never do what is done in our world, work together. The DEFENDERS UNIVERSE or DU is one where people have started to get past those things that divide us working together for the betterment of all. Aliens are known and even beginning to be accepted. An Alien Race, the Amarie, have lived on Earth for over 10,000 yrs and just let themselves be known to the world, they fought beside the EDF to protect this world, fought and died so people, most people just see them as another breed of human. The EDF, in the DU, is what I would expect and want to exist in a game I played in, not an UNTIL. The EDF is fully self funded, has oversight on an international level, has Mutants from all over the world as its members, bases both on and off planet, space stations, shuttles, even space fighters, and has many non-powered personal in areas of command and control. It is a logical outgrowth of a world that had to start dealing with Heroes in 2000 and has had to, in games years, for 18 yrs, and in RL for soon to be four. EU has a number of schools in the USA, Europe, Russia, China and Japan. These schools exist to train the emerging numbers of young people with powers. These children are trained to use the powers so as not to harm others or to become if they wish Heroes. No child in the most nations are not forced to go the Hero route but some nations see them as an important resource. In the EU, the UN is not what it is here. It is a body that truly wishes and is able to try and help all peoples. It goes beyond any single nations POV and truly finds a workable middle ground. It is run efficiently, and has true oversight by independent monitors that make sure the monies it has are spent in the way intended. Yes, it is an idealized world, but one that allows us as PC’s and GM to not have to worry about some things. It has no standing army nor can it due to the revised charter. It can sanction any nation, but uses those in a direct manner that is fair to all, to influence nations. If it asks for military forces, it gets them under an international command, usually America or European, but not always, and not without debate. So it is possiable to have an International Group "that watches the watchmen" so to speak. Just added to show that it can be done. [note: 5 players, 1 with 25+ yrs, 2 with 20+ yrs, and 2 with 10+ yrs, playing HERO]
  10. Re: Age of Sail Alternate History idea What I'd see is the with out the unification of Great Britian, you'd get a series of at first minor alterations upto major ones as time moves along. One would be that Scotland remained indepentant and maybe eventually a world power in the area of trade. Just a quick idea, will think on this more later and will add what comes to mind.
  11. Re: Xiaolin Showdown/Avatar: The Last Airbender - A Match Made In HERO? I like it. Repped btw.
  12. Re: Slayers Magic Spells Dude these are great....keep them coming.
  13. Re: Time travel Dr. Who style - Hero Universe No the car looks like this, and it is the TARDIS equalivent. And yes it has a working version of a camo-system. hehehehehe I didn't want it to be a complete take off on Back to the Future.
  14. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? The Last Starfighter, not a bad movie, the CGI was simple and the acting not so bad. I liked it a real coming of age story. All three of the 'Lord of the Rings' and TNT, loved it even if it took all day. I read the books the first time in something like five days back in the day. I love the scope and feel of epic fantasy.
  15. Re: Pulparize It! A Pulp spin on The Wild, Wild West: James West, a WWI solider of great talent and bravery is requited after the Geart War to join a special unit of the Secret Service. He is given a new background and access to great wealth. James West is the master of many hand to hand combat styles, has an understanding of human nature that borders on the uncanny. He is well read but without any real formal education. He is one of the best with ANY firearm and can drive, fly anything he has ever tried to. Artimus Gordan, also a WWI Vet, is also added to act as West's Gentleman's Gentleman. Gordan is a true pulp age weird scientist. He uses that skill and he's knowledge of the makeup and other skills gained from a past that would in itself be worthy of he's own show. Together using the money and sancition of the President of the USA, these two men fight a never ending battle vs, the enemies of not onle America but the free world. Using a private train, a experimental aircraft, and many other wonderous machines they fight villians like the dimunitive Dr. Loveless and coutless others. In this never ending battle, you can count on Jim West finding and loving many women, strange and weird scientific machines to stop and also hidden civilations and who knows.....maybe things from beyond this world, both in space and dimension. [for the enjoyment this Holiday season]
  16. Re: Integrating "normal" things into a "Super" world Lord Laiden, I saved your first post as a new referance doc for the next Champions world I do. I find that it allows for just the right feel that we see in the comics. I also agree with othes that it is all a matter of style and what you want to have happen in the game, one reason that we play is that we all have a different way of looking at things and must come together to tell the story we want, ie play the game.
  17. Re: Help Needed with Superhero Bases I am going to have nightmares for a month now.....thanks Tre.
  18. Re: Speedsters: I have a C that is a full time Brick and also a Speedster. He is just now learning the speed powers. Mostly I see speedsters as a way of thinking than actual powers.
  19. Re: [Campaign] The Fearless Monster Hunters The bunny man does it again.....man you have lucky players. I hope that one day I get to meet you Bill. I do believe that you'd give me many good ideas for games. BTW ..... repped.
  20. Re: THE GREEN LANTERN has fallen That's sad, I always liked GL. Now that the GLCorp is back, let's see if DC lives up to the creators creation.
  21. Re: Build Challenge: Mythbusters! I can agree with that view TB. Having it bought that way would make it just one of the sub-set of that overall skill. I was looking it from the other POV.
  22. Re: Build Challenge: Mythbusters! Maybe two, depending on how you look at them. I would say that yes, two skills. People can weld, but not all that can can mold the metal after.
  23. Re: Pulparize It! To be honest with why I did the Taxi bit was ..... I was just sitting around and thinking, always a dangerous thing, when it hit me. Taxi as pulp!! You had this crazy cast of characters and it was NYC, just a few twicks and bang you have them as pulp adventurers. Plus I can see the cast in my mind's eye, and I tell you it's a better TV than most of what is on now of days.
  24. Re: Pulparize It! Guys, if this is so good to start talking about ...... is it good enough for a little rep??? Joking.
  25. Re: Traveller Hero Update I wait with great hope that this will allow others to find and fall in love with the idea of Traveller. I loved the system, even when a great C died when he was almost finished being created. GM allowed you to drop that tour and keep the C as is before that last tour.
