Crafting 1 2

Hello, everyone. I wanted to let people know that my character Shootist is at 294 Arms skill now, and can now create custom items usable by people level 21+. So, if you're having trouble getting the item bonuses you need, let me know and I'll see what I can do. I'm happy to craft at no charge, though the amount I can craft is limited by components (which I get through breaking down Arms items of level 21+, or finding boxes of Arms in the wild). I'll edit this post in the future to list the types of things I can craft. In the meantime...any other crafters out there?

Posting here as the novel in question could apply to several genres..... Has anyone read the novel "Watermind" by M.M Buckner ? Saw it on the newsstand, scanned a few pages and it appears to be an environmental techno thriller. I do plan on picking it up when budget allows but was curious if anyone else had seen it and lifted any usable plot hooks..... -Carl-

Martial Arts and AOE

I'm cross-posting this from the CO forums because it plummeted down the page count there like a stone into stygian depths. Mainly I'm interested in seeing if my reasoning is unfounded. Thread Link It seems to me there's a dearth of martial arts Area of Effect (AOE) attacks outside of Dual Blades. At a certain point the use of AOE becomes if not essential then at least extremely useful and recommended for clearing henchmen as well as nemesis waves. Among the martial arts trees Claws has no AOE attacks and Single Blade has one described as Close Area Atack that is actually single target (Reaper's Caress). The weaponless tree Martial Arts has a single cone AOE in Dragon…

All right folx! It's taken months of talking back and forth, leaping logistical hurdles, and communications delays, but we've finally gotten everything set up for: The Andy Mathews Memorial Fund As some of you know, when Andy passed away last December, he had two young sons: Tim (age 6) and Mack (age 2). To honor Andy's memory, we've set up a Memorial Fund to pay for their education and health needs. Here's how it's going to work. We've put two items in the Online Store -- a $10 donation and a $20 donation. If you want to donate, just purchase one of them (or more than one, if you want to donate a larger amount). You can even add them to any other purchase…

Greetings While I'm not one of the fan boys that will argue at length about what an MMO is and isn't, I'm just wondering if anyone is actually playing CO like an MMO. When I think of an MMO, I guess I think of a game that is built so that, at least parts, are set up so that you must play with a team. So far (I am currently lvl 23) I have no Supergroup, and have only, on rare occasion, joined a group to do anything. it's not that I wouldn't like to, I really haven't felt like I needed to. I have jumped in to help out a fellow hero if I notice they are getting a serious beatdown from a mob or two. But that is only if I'm close by and not engaged myself. I gue…

Hello, a campaign idea I developped as a spinoff of the original serie. The Cast : Rya'c, teal'C son. Cassandra, Samantha adoptiv daughter The Arthiesis, Daniel Jackson son. Yound O'Neill, Jack O'Neill teenager clone. What's happening : After the defeat of Anubis the situation in the galaxy is quiet, Jackson Son is given back to him with no extra knowledge (or just a few) from his assenced past. Rya'c and Youg O'Neill are suprisingly major pain in the ass , such is Cassandra. To ease up and bond, O'Neill(senor) suggest a camping/survival/fishing trip to a lovely wild and deserted planet. Alas, things doesnt go well... …

I thought it would be useful to have a place where we could post links to interesting threads on the official boards for Champions Online. Mrs. Dr. Device is out of town with Dr. Device Jr., so I'm going to be online for much of the evening. My namesake is Level 29, and has Dr. Destroyer's Lab, Teleios' tower, and Monster Island Crisis queued up. If anyone wants to join in, feel free to message me at Dr. Device@descriptivist.net.

I've now done 3 of the 5-man missions (two of which I did twice in part or full). General thoughts: Destroyer's Lab: Overall, I think the best of the bunch. It has a good mix of battles that aren't all the same, as well as a couple of tricky non-battle parts (the parts magnet in the robot factory is a bear to control). The fact that there's only one respawn point, at the start of the scenario, significantly encourages you to be cautious about getting yourself defeated. One puzzle/bug, though: in the final room, when you first arrive, you have a 5 minute countdown to disable 5 assembly systems. I took out 4 of them in the 5 minutes, at which point the countdown froze …

Thought I'd post this here, as it's CO related. On the official CO boards, Steamtank runs gladiatorial writing competitions (Staeamtanks Tournament of Champions), and one unlucky runner-up got the dubious honour of having me mess up their character with wobbly lines. Here's Doomface, created by lTrain, and not a nice fella:

Civilian misson givers

I think I've found two civilians in MC who always give civilian missions. They're located 6808 189 -2456 (east end of Harmon Industries grounds, on a grass ledge wth a police car below it) and 9979 242 -2119 (west end of the plaza James Harmon IV is at on the waterfront). They're being attacked by Destroyer bots. Once you save them, they thank you, and then you get a civilian mission pop up. I'm bugging it to see if it is intentional or if it is considered an exploit to farm these. Make of them what you will in the meantime.

OK, once again I've got a plate full of 5-man missions, so it's time to organize some runs. What I've got are: --Search And Destroyer, the second mission in Destroyer's robotics lab (designated level 28, IIRC) --Death's Door (and one other), the Necrull missions in Canadia (designated level 30, IIRC) --the two Moreau lab missions on Monster Island (designated level 34) I'd love to get some or all of these taken care of. I myself am level 34, but of course with sidekicking some allowance can be made for characters who aren't necessarily ready yet for one of these missions. So I would like to try to get a group for any or all of these toget…

As many will guess I a super noob around here. About 2 months ago I was shown the glory of the Hero System by a new player to my Pathfinder Game. He told me about it and I looked high and low till I found a Hero System 5th REV. As I was reading it (while watching Kung Fu Panda) I was like this would make an awesome game. So I logged on the website and found that Hero System 6th was about to be out so I put everything on hold. Now that 6th will be here any day now, I was hoping to get comments and suggestions . I love martial arts and the no humans all animals idea, but I have never played or run Hero System . Which will get fixed at the Conquest OCT 3rd and 4th …

I've always been a fan of the Unknown Armies and Over the Edge games. More for the background and weird noir feel of both games. I've monkeyed about trying to translate an aproximation of the magic system from those games into Hero. Those games are very free form, so they resist conversion, but the themes can be borrowed. Dipsomancy (booze magic) and Plutomancy (Money Mages) were my two favorites. http://game1.fennecfoxen.org/projects/magick.html Recently, I put together a character who used a sort of post-modern take on magic with guns. Creating special loads for his bullets. I thought I'd start the challenge rolling with the two items I made for him. Let…

Hey, the subject came up on the Hero Board Chat channel on Champions Online, so I pose it to the populous: Should we have an official team uniform? What should it look like? Posters should offer suggestions and/or costume pics.

Anyone interested in trying some PvP in the game? Figured I'd start a thread for it. Warning: I, personally, generally suck at PvP. I just don't have the reflexes for it. But I'd enjoy at least trying it out a bit... preferably on a team of otherwise really good people who don't mind carrying an old fogey.

I was looking forward to this so much, and I find the game absolutely unplayable. This is the worst interface that I have ever had to deal with. As some of you know I have one hand, so it usually takes some doing to get an MMO to where I can function comfortably. This game, I can't do it. Certain settings (like free camera) simply don't work or work like no other game using those words. Additionally, I don't know what computer this was designed for but my two year old computer has to turn the graphics down so far (even with my recently upgraded video card) that the good stuff is completely absent. This game actually made me want to go play CoX. Congratulation…

So, the title of my post pretty much sums things up. I'm fiddling with ideas for an Urban Fantasy Hero game to run as a one-shot (potentially as a convention scenario) with the option of turning it into a home campaign if I find enough interested people. After playing a game of Urban Fantasy Hero in the Dresden Files universe at GenCon, I'm definitely looking at using that world as the setting (though it would be set somewhere in Colorado instead of Chicago). My second inspiration is another similar source - the TV show Supernatural. I don't know if I'll follow the monster of the week formula, but the show has a lot of interesting ideas to mine for plot hooks. …
