Kazai 5 for 6th Edition is in the store. PDF and a book/pdf bundle are also available. Description: Technology is making man obsolete. The choice is yours: upgrade or die. Want to be stronger? Faster? Smarter? You can, provided you’re willing to pay the price… your humanity. Cybernetics allow you to punch harder, shoot straighter, run faster, and even think better. And if that’s not enough, you can become a full-conversion cyborg, sacrificing mere meat for cutting-edge machine. You might opt for a genetic upgrade, a reworking of your DNA with the intent of “fixing” all of nature’s mistakes. Or you might be a replicated human, vat-grown and computer…

I don’t know how popular this sub-genre is. Trying to find out, hope to get some input. Applicable to both Fantasy Hero and Star Hero. Rifts did it. Gamma World. Not an aficionado, I don’t know all the titles. One of the many things I’m toying with is a Fallen Earth. Years ago I thought Rifts had great flavor, still do, so I wanted to capture some of it. The Fall 1 - I began with a plague, super germ escaped from a US research lab (Thank you S. King). Doesn’t destroy the world, they get it under control predict over 1 billion dead. People very upset and scared. 2 – Terrorism in US, retribution from extremist religion blaming US corruption for…

Champions Online - Revelation Coming In March

Cryptic has listened to the player base concerns regarding the previously announced pay-for-Bay expansion and announced the next expansion of Champions Online, former working title Vibora Bay, now titled Revelation, is to be released in March 2010. Here's the text of Chronomancer's State of the Game - 02/09/10 address, and here's the link to the initial Revelations splash page. I've been down on CO these last couple of weeks but I think there's still hope.

Reading Post-Apocalyptic Hero has motivated me to finally work on converting things from the other post-apocalypse RPGs I have. I was going to start with 1st Edition Gamma World mutations but most of them are just talents and regular powers in Hero. For example, Directional Sense is Bump of Direction and Infravision is Infravision. Plus, Steve covered a lot of the others in PAH. That doesn't leave much to convert and the rest would just be listing what talent or power to use and page numbers for certain mutations in PAH. So I skipped to The World of Tank Girl. I know, I know, the movie was terrible. But I liked it anyway because I'm a post-apocalypse junkie. Which is why …

With the announcement that the new zone, Vibora bay, will not be free access, but will cost money, reactions on the CO forums have been pretty unhappy. How do you guys feel about it? I don't know enough about it to say, but in general, the idea of paying money for access to a mere zone sounds like a bad idea. Expansion, I have no problem with paying money, but a zone..well, that bugs me. I think Cryptic really misjudged the reaction to this.

*waves* Hello! I'm reasonably sure this thread isn't what you think it is. Yes, I'm a lifer. Yes, I'm less than thrilled so far. but... If you've seen my posts on CO here and on their boards I've been asking people what they run CO on because mine looks awful. Funny thing...Turns out my problem was having the lighting effects set to low. Toggled high last night and poof! I could suddenly see the difference between textures in character design! Now it runs like crud with this on. I've set to half resolution and several other response enhancers that make the game look bad but work almost perfectly. However, if I want I can make it look…

Daeke's out, Stormshade's in as Community Moderator

For those of you who avoid the main game boards, linkage Speculation abounds with no definitive proof as to the particulars of why Daeke and Cryptic parted ways. This comes on the tails of the long weekend and early part of the week with the boards in flames over Vibora Bay as a paid expansion and the Kitchen Sink patch running things through the garbage disposal. In addition no information regarding the "Legendary" additions expected in 2010 have been provided yet, whether Kitchen Sink/Vibora Bay are it or there's more to come. Maybe it's related to his providing the info that the Vibora Bay expansion will be pay-to-play, maybe to the overall erratic commun…

Here's a poser that's entertained me for weeks now on and off, and I thought I'd share for the other bibliomaniacs on the list. Say you've got a Library. But not just any Library -- it's the Library of Babel from Jorge Luis Borges' story, or L-space from Terry Pratchett's Discworld, or whatever; it's the Library in another dimension that has access to all of the universes where writing exists. They've got the books H. P. Lovecraft would have written had he gone to the doctor in time. They've got the books from the Library of Alexandria; they've got all the works of Socrates and Aeschylus and the rest. They've got Plato's Hermocrates, describing both the detailed hist…

From time to time I think of new games to start just to realize that I don’t have the time or energy (Gming in 3 online games) to go through with them. However, I would still like to share on of my ideas. Project Time Flux: It all started a few years ago. Stories of dinosaurs in Kentucky, knights in shining armor in England, and space ships in Australia. These were seen as random occurrences, hoaxes, or just plane crazy ideas. But the stories were getting more and more common lately - that was until last Monday. Last Monday, the entire city of New York City changed. It turned into a post-apocalyptic scene, a large part of Japan tuned into the Mi…

First, Greetings.. I am new to the forums here. So for the last 3 months my son has been bothering me about wanting to play Champions Online. Being familiar with the franchise I was happy to oblige, only we don't have much money at the moment having just finished our holiday shopping. A few days ago I was about to purchase a digital copy of the game as it was $10 less. I sat down at my PC and looked through my emails. Oh look an email from Gamestop. Apparently they were issuing gift cards by email for anyone with unclaimed reserves from 2007-2008. I had $41.09 in credit. How it was $41.09 is anyone's guess when a reserve is $5. Anyway I read all …

I'm in the process of writing up characters from the Disney cartoon series Phineas and Ferb (IMO the best Disney cartoon since TaleSpin). I'll post them here as I have them. And hopefully it goes without saying, but Susano, feel free to post them to your web site.

Lets face it, apart from The Flintstones, most of us just can't imagine a "fun" stone-age setting. What kind of features would your stone-age setting have to make it fun and gameable? Settings I might suggest: One Million BC Heroes (dinosaurs coexisting with humans) Cave Man Heroes (like One Million BC Heroes, but with a comedic slant) Native Peoples Hero (your stone-age society is being colonized by people with superior technology) Any of the above could include shamanistic magic of one sort or another. How would that work? Anyone else?

Seriously, I see the blood moon and all and I heard the howling of werewolves in Millenium City but aside from that there seems to be little evidence of old Taco-Fanny anywhere. So where is he? Where are his minions that need pounding?

The year is 2219, after the great floods of the 21st century those who could afford to went went sub orbital. Around the globe those left behind were forced to make due as ice caps melted and every continent was rocked with earthquakes and storms consuming the coasts and devastating the remaining cities. Humanity though are survivors. As the Earth settled into it's new form so did the nations of the world. Vast industrial centers cropped up around the world feeding their masters above. Society on the ground evolved into loosely federated nations states serving the different Colonies. All led by the promise of some day buying their way into utopia. The Colonies use…

I loaded up the demo of Champions Online. I have recently came up against a reaccuring problem. Every time I come up against a bugkeeper. The screen freezes and then goes black, and then says "No signal" It has the 3 colors of red, green, and blue on the screen in a rectangle and just below it in black and white are the words. I have to turn off my computer because of this. I haven't had troubles with any of the other aliens or sections of the demo.

I got my copy of Lucha Libre Hero last week, watched El Santo Contra Las Vampiras over the weekend to get in the right mood, and then dug in. I'm reading straight through and so far it's full of awesome. And I see no indication that the awesome to page ratio will drop in the back half of the book. That was all great timing because just today one of the link farms I follow posted a link to information about El Vetica. I'd never head of El Vetica before but he sounds like a really important figure. From the info page: "El Vetica, also know as El Kernudo, held the Mexican Inter-Continental belt for an unprecedented 7 years, from 1977–84." I don't think we can…

Greetings Fellow Herophiles The scenario is that you are part of a Colony that was established six months ago. Now all of your technology is breaking down for some unknown reason. No electricity to houses. Pumps that supply the water pressure have stop for no apparent reason. Tractors do not run. Your colony is falling in the dark ages. Torches and candles are used for light at night. Horse and carts are use to move peoples and things from place to place. Now for the challenge. Each of you has found that you can make on item that seems to work by magic. It has to be made with any advantage and limitations that are legal under 6th edition rules. The item has…

Got a game coming up that is basically a mix of rifts and the morrow project. The PCs are selected to be frozen and placed in a bunker until after a world shattering event (the opening of dimensional portals "rifts") at which point they will try to rebuilt society. Each player starts out with standard issue stuff that is basically the same for each character but they also get anything they can fit into a 15" high, 18" wide, 36" long footlocker. So the question is what do you or your favorite characters put in the footlocker?

Our bank is full of white junk and has been for a long time. I think we are past the point where we need to be keeping that sort of stuff around. It was useful before we had lots of people available to do crafting and before most players had a few alts around that could pass gear to their own lowbies, but I think the practice of allowing anything at all in the bank has outlived its usefulness. I'm going to clear the bank out of the white junk items. From now on I think we should be focusing on keeping green or better items only in the bank. Plus crafting mats, of course, both for regular crafting and for travel powers. The only exception to the rule about item …
