World Creation Superdraft 6: May 2022

Recommended Posts

Fauns know all the methods of arousing passions and using them to form new connections. Music and dancing, feasting, drinking, drugs, and more -- they know it all. The physical dangers are slight... for them... though other people who attend faun revels have in rare cases died from overdose or exhaustion. A greater danger is that they lose themselves in revelry and never fully come back. Visitors to a faun party may emerge knowing things about their desires they never imagined, and some minds break from the revelation; on. They may also become addicted to the passionate release they do not know how to find anywhere else. But others emerge with new loves and a sense of joyous liberation.

Though any folk might attend a party and end up sobbing or cheering, "I love you guys!"

A self is such a burden at times. Forgetting it for a while can give a chance to find other people who can help you carry it. And do not forget to give thanks to Thrum as well!

Secondary Domain: Ecstatic Revelry.

(I wanted to find a scene from the opera, but the excerpts seemed too slow and tame. This is supposed to be a wild rumpus, not a stately ballet. Eh, let the music carry itself. -- Dean Shomshak)

O Lovers, cruelest of gods! Why do you curse us with love for other people? It hurts so much when they leave! Perhaps love is not returned, or cools for one before the other. Perhaps one we love is forced to move far away. Or the greatest and final parting, when a loved one departs for Mania's halls. Better to feel nothing!

O mortals, the sweet cannot be known without the bitter, nor joy be known without sorrow. Though you feel the world has ended, know by the pain in your heart that the one you love is not completely gone, and never shall be while you remember. Accept your tears, for they are holy. This offering We make to Mania and G'Brill; and in time perhaps Astrasia grants thee peace.

Secondary Domain: Grief.

Fauna Pick: Storks. Possessing something of the nature of Hekk, these birds can fly wherever there is life

Gift to Astrasia: they can carry souls from Hekk to wherever they will be reborn.

Gift to Love: When two or more people love each other very much, their love may be fruitful. For the others, there is always Ma's Bargain Baby Barn.

And now children, you know where babies come from...

"Dost thy unbelieving neighbor prosper whilst thee fall behind? Dost the foreigner following soft gods shine with wealth that rightfully should bless the worthy such as thyself?  Tis by foul fraud, sinful ways, or mere luck that this has transpired. They hath worked in the shadows to take advantage of others so thou may work in the shadows against them so all maybe just as it should be. Be they feeble pagan fools who cannot even defend what they have, then they deserve it not; not when the faithful could use it better.  With the wisdom and ways of Xarn Tarsus, thou wilt appreciate such treasures far more than they anyway, and do much more with them! Here is the fourth truth- Xarn Tarsus loves his faithful, and wishes thee and his church to have MORE" -Excerpt from The Sacred Truths of the Tyrant

One of the first fables concerns why the moons are all different colours.

It is said that originally all the moons were the same colour and would have remained that way if not for Chroma. The god was experimenting and just happened to use the moons as a template first making one red, then another white and finally a third green. As he was doing this Olandria appeared and was transfixed and enraptured by what was happening. She turned to him and said 'More, show me more, please !'

So Chroma began painting the moons in different colours but it mattered little if the colour was strong or weak, pulsating or still, Olandria loved it. Some of the colours were indeed ugly and would sicken anyone other than a god but Olandria was delighted with each change, each potential variation.

Eventually Olandria asked for specific colours for the moons and this was before they were named. 'This one red, that one blue, this one green, that one yellow, this one purple, that one white, this one brown, that one black, this one yellow, that one brown, this one pink, that one gray and...'

She was interrupted by the the sparkling meteor. 'And one that sparkles !'

Chroma was about to comply when the goddess said 'But not so that it outshines your meteor'

Olandria offered a favour to Chroma for showing her how her moons could be made more magnificent with the addition of colour.

And that is how the moons came to be different colours.

When asked if this is truly the way the moons came to be different colours, Olandria always replies 'Yes'.

Today's selection is a gift to civilization. Cadel bestows the knowledge of agriculture upon the people of the world. This will be most evident under his realm on the day side, but the techniques could be used on the dark side of the planet as well, though they'll be looking at a completely different of harvest. A lot of mushrooms I would think.

Also, finish can we get an updated roster soon please. I'm losing track of who did what and going back through on the phone is a pita.

Are we picking through the weekend?

They could smell the lions before they could see them; the pit wasn't cleaned often. Or maybe ever.

"You still need us,' the organizer said. "Without migrant labour you'll never get the mushroom harvest done."

"There's always more migrants. If executing you won't remind the ones out there the truth of things, more will come."

And that was the end of the trial. Ten prisoners were kicked into the pit while the crowd of migrant workers howled. As they howled, the air above them began to shimmer and congeal...

Unique Monster: the Beast of Blair Mountain

It's a rampaging monster made of elemental rage on the scale of a tarrasque. It is summoned when enough people are angry enough over unfair treatment.

"Harken, and remember how Xarn Tarses strove to save all peoples of the world from the jealous madness of lesser gods! Gracious are his gifts, to his wonders all submit. Through this gift, unity maybe found, purpose maybe passed from the few to the many, and greatness achieved! There is an order to all things and following it may benefit everyone; of course, it needs must better those who command more than the many who serve. Xarn Tarses is supreme, his church making his will known, and under the priests, the rulers secular if one must have them, and beneath them the administrators, then warriors, then the foremen, yay verily down to the lowest serfs and slaves. By this system, which all thinking creatures know in their heart of hearts is the natural order, we may do far more than in rebellious disharmony. Here is the fifth truth- Xarn Tarsus has gifted all so that by keeping each in their proper place, we too can achieve glorious things for our peoples and his name" -Excerpt from The Sacred Truths of the Tyrant

For weeks, the workers representative had spoken behalf of his fellows to the owners of the land they all tilled on the owners' behalf. Finally, it seemed concessions had been made. The plan had been to have lager shares for all, wages increased for all. But after weeks and seeing his people near to starving for their trouble, the representative had begun to realize he would need to change the plan. He would ask for a slight increase in food shares for the workers, or at least a larger contribution to the communal share they all could draw from, while promising even greater output (Which would after all now be self serving yes?) and... yes, the Representative realized, he would take that slight raise in wages just for himself. As the Priest of Xarn Tarsus had explained to both he and his employer; the representative was clearly more deserving than his fellows who only labored but never took on the hard job of planning, and speaking as he did! If he tried to split the meager coin offered to him, it would be as nothing once split to the mob. Yes, this was the way, he was sure. He was, after all, his peers' superior.  As they cheered him when he announced (Part of) the news and urged them back to work, he knew he had done the right thing. After all, someone had to be at the bottom of this operation, as long as it wasn't him? So be it.

And somewhere, a Tyrant God steepled his fingers, and gave a low laugh of approval.

Gift to Civilization: Hierarchy

cjp2ldjhr2xusjk5xrtx.jpeg

Hierarchy, at least in this creation, is a gift to civilization. It is a gift by which can advance many of the fruits of any civilization. It can make the gift of agriculture even more efficient, create booming industries turning villages into towns or even cities, and streamline so many processes. However, it creates social classes, castes, and groupings of authority that can be very rigid and yes, serve tyranny. Those who utilize this gift soon imagine themselves as being 'better' than someone else. Even a serf may come to gloat over a slave, and a near starving freeman? He sees himself as better than either. In this, the gift shares a trait with fire, wisely wielded it can light your path out of a savage world, poorly handled? It will burn many.

As much as Xarn Tarsus wishes otherwise, he is not the top of everyone's hierarchy, but even among unsuspecting heathens who do not call his name, it is a form of subconscious tribute to Xarn Tarsus. Let the gods of freedom and the common worker's dignity rage. Rare is the sentient being who will not be eager to sell the sweat of ANOTHER person's brow while thinking "I deserve this". That, Xarn believes, shall be his triumph.

Secondary Domain: Judgement.

There may be no justice in the world of the living, but the Dead are judged for their deeds. The just and righteous go to the Gardens, the unjust go to the Pit. Those who failed to be either are doomed to wander in the mists of Limbo.

Such rewards or punishments are seldom eternal: reincarnation is possible from all three states.

Some say that those rewarded in one life are often unjust in their next life, while those punished are often just in theirs.
