Old Man
Re: Musings on Random Musings No. Most TV and movie actresses are much too skinny and have very angular faces. I've noticed that quite a few look a lot worse in HDTV than they did in old fashioned lo def.

She's *not* a toothpick, and is considered (by the industry, not by BMI) to be "plus sized".

SteveZilla
Re: Musings on Random Musings I saw part of an interview with her. She has a sense of humor and is fairly intelligent. That makes three big plusses in my book. Too bad I'm twice her age.
Old Man
Re: Musings on Random Musings I didn't realize she was forty years old! I've seen coverage of this supermodel competiton. That she is considered heavier than normal is incredibly damning of the entire industry.

It all depends on the woman in question, I suppose.
teh bunneh
Re: Musings on Random Musings So WRT my injured hand. I examined it last night. It has faded from an angry blood red to a less-angry pink. There's a lot of dead skin sloughing off around the edges, and it's definitely stopped bleeding/seeping. There's even the beginnings of some new skin forming underneath it. Yesterday, it was itching a bit. No signs of infection. I think it'll be OK in a few more days as long as I keep looking after it. AliceTheOwl
Re: Musings on Random Musings This site should give a little better idea. Wow. That beige dress looks awesome on her. The problem isn't so much that skinny girls exist. The problem is that that's who the fashion industry seems to design for. With models, and the way the cloth is supposed to drape like they're a walking canvas, it almost makes sense. But to make ALL clothes so they only look good on skinny women with no curves does a great disservice to the other body types. So the problem isn't that skinny women look good in clothes. It's that the message most people are hearing is not that there are different clothes that will look better on their bodies, but that they have to change their bodies to look good in those clothes. To that, I say, "Feh." Also, "What the heck, Lane Bryant? Spandex in my blouses? Really? 'Cause that'll totally close up the Button Gap, making the cloth fit tighter." Real Men. Real Americans. Real Lifters. Real Fighters. I really need to quit the Internet. It's been true far longer than the Internet. The Internet merely preserves dumb comments like that for your continued viewing annoyance. Use of the term "Real Man" (in something other than obvious humor; the use of the phrase in the "Real Men, Real Roleplayers, Loonies, & Munchkins" document is satirizing a gamer phenomenon so it doesn't bother me) generally makes me leave the room before my anger becomes visible. That's been true for about 20 years longer than the Internet has existed.
