"Aristotle, using the system of logic that he invented, proved that women are inferior to men because women have fewer teeth."

Aristotle was wrong. Men and women have the same number of teeth. He never looked.

One of the principle flaws in Greek philosophy (says the philosophy minor that would have counted the teeth) :)

I saw an old copy years ago at the university library. I didn't know it was still in print.

it is not. The listing is for a copy held in Ripping Yarns* a secondhand bookshop in London.

And you can tell the difference between a philosophy major and a science major by how they react to this statement.

The Philosophy Major will start looking up counter arguements and supporting arguements.

The Science Major will start counting teeth.

Aristotle was wrong. Men and women have the same number of teeth. He never looked.

Well perhaps Aristotle should have used Parmenides' logic instead. (IIRC his philosophy necessitated the creation of logic.)

Greek philosophy has flaws? Inconceivable! ;)

Aristotle was one of the 'natural philosophers' who believed that everything could be deduced from first principles
And today scientist believe that everything can be deduced to the Laws of Nature, not to mention the teleological unicorn of physics, the "theory of everything".

My housemate got his wife a new light saber from Advanced Light Weaponry. It includes a soundboard for the light saber noises, and the light illuminating the blade is a dental laser.

I'm a fan of their organic look, which is great for people who want to do something like Tenel Ka Djo's Rancor Tooth blade.

Here's a great shopping guide for finding the best saber for a collector or cosplayer.

I have a friend who also makes light sabers- Ing Chao's Armory. His tend to be simpler and hardier for stunt fighting, but he tries to accommodate custom work within his means. He can also convert the ForceFX show sabers for stunt fighting.

Did he get it for his wife because it's good for marital arts?

I specifically have designed my blades and hilts for full contact dueling stresses. They are bright, and perfect for marital arts or fight choreography dueling.

Kind of like Democritus, who gets credit for coming up with the concept of the atom ~2500 years ago. It took over two millennia before anyone actually came up with evidence.
