M13 can be seen with the unaided eye under optimal conditions here in the Northern Hemisphere, and it's spectacular with binoculars or a small telescope. Lessee ... east is to the right in that image, and looks like south is up ... at bottom right corner of the large linked image is the galaxy NGC 6207 ... I think the bright blue star near the top of the image and to the left of cluster center is HD 150679, an A8V star that happens to be in that direction; no physical connection to M13. He had a small perch on the line just a few feet from the boat, and telling me to get the needlenose pliers ready so I could unhook the little fella and release it, when suddenly he had a bigger fish on his line...not quite this big, though.
