WWYCD: An Alien among them

When a master villain threatens to destroy the earth by creating a 'quantum displacement bomb' meant to scatter matter across reality. Your character ends up foiling the plan, but gets caught in an odd energy surge/explosion... and finds him(her)self standing on...another planet! Or so it seems anyways. There are two moons above, during the daylight the sky is slightly greener, and the people aren't human, though they are humanoid.

The mainstream tech is actually about 50 years behind modern day Earth, maybe more, and the air seems breathable so the oxygen ratio must be similar to Earth. They have sky scrappers and traffic, and older citizens that think the younger citizens listen to really bad music, and yes, even crime (Though nothing superpowered per se).

The natives immediate reaction varies from wonder, to panic, their language maybe untelligble to you (Unless you have universal translator, of course) but you get the feeling the general phrase being spoken is "Eeek! it's an alien!"

Even if your character has some way of leaving planet on their own power, you aren't sure WHERE in the galaxy (if it is still the galaxy) you are so you are unsure in which direction to go.

In the mean time, you're the alien... (Which for some heroes is business as normal) What would your character do?

Re: WWYCD: An Alien among them

In the short term, hope he encounters someone with something other than a shoot-first attitude.

In the intermediate term, ponder that the fundamental question about life elsewhere in the Universe is answered in the affirmative.

In the longer term, worry about malnutrition.

Re: WWYCD: An Alien among them

Wicca: If it is a human-imagined Alien Planet in the Babylon dimension; if she could find a Taxi that could take her back to the areas she knew, no problem. If not, she'd have to make a few critical AK rolls and walk it. If it really was an Alien World, she would try to relate it to wherever she had come from in another plane and add it to her AK. (This area leads to THIS new world) and report it to Master. If dropped off by an actual Spaceship, she would still use her Planar Travel to get home.

What TIME it was would also need to be considered. :)

If it were FIRESTORM, there is no place you could put her in any galaxy, any dimension, any time, that Harlequin could not eventually find.

Same as any alien PC coming to our Earth would do: Fight Crime or Conquer!

Actually, Audra Blue couldn't handle a world without the internet, but she'd have fun inventing such a thing. Anthem and Uncle Slam would do the same schtick, fighting for Truth, Justice, and Globnoc'kian way.

Jessica - "Stupid frickin' quantum distortin' lowsy scumbag no-good criminals... can't leave well enoughe alone." Would be the initial reaction, all four feet eleven of her stomping around in a small circle as she worked out some frustration without breaking the surrounding area. Having the lower tech would be comforting, but the first order of business is determine what's edible due to her restricted diet. Second, see about a job maybe.

Silence - Wander around looking for something to do, or at least learn the layout of the place. She's got plenty of time.

Re: WWYCD: An Alien among them

The Tornado! Oh boy... well.. let's see.. the LAST planet he visited during an interdimensional escapade ended up being just like Earth except inhabited entirely by sentient apes, including the sinister Dr. Simian, who had escaped to that world from the original campaign Earth dimension. He (and the rest of the team) helped to foil Dr. Simian's plans to rule that world through his mental powers and high technology. So, I suppose if the same thing happened to him again, he'd still find some way to help against oppression or villainy any way he could, though.. he WOULD prefer the monkeys. They make him laugh. If he could somehow parlay helping the inhabitants of this world into some way of getting back home, though, he would.

The Templar He'd keep fighting evil, no matter what dimension he was in... I guess unless he got sent into some sort of Evil Hell Dimension.. in which case he probably wouldn't last very long because subtlety was more or less lost on him and demonic hordes tend to be on the overpowering side of things.

Re: WWYCD: An Alien among them

Special Agent Trent would look around, realize what had happened, then clench his fists, raise his head, and shout to the heavens, "I. . .HATE. . .SUPERS!!!" As he said this, the pavement he was standing on would crack, nearby cars would pushed slightly, and any glass in the vicinity would shatter, as his frustration fueled an unconscious release of psychokinetic force.

If this "shocking and violent attack" didn't get him on a most wanted list, he'd try to contact the government, find someone who could learn his language, and see if they could get him back home.

While he was waiting, he'd use his abilities for law and order, and in a world with real-world 1950's equivalent technology, he'd be nigh-unstoppable. Evenutally, he'd be horrified to discover that he had finally become a superhero after all (complete with costume--what are the odds that a government-issue black suit is standard attire on another world?).

Peregrine - if their tech is 50 years behind, he just became their Nikola Tesla. Once he gets acclimated, he'd become a Science Hero. (He'd have to invent a heck of a lot of stuff just to have maintenance facilities for the suit, for one.)

Silver Avenger Kit Masters - as a officer of the U.S. government, he'd likely see himself as an Ambassador Without Charge, meaning he'd try to represent the U.S. both officially and unofficially as best as he could. Plus, he'd Fight Crime!

Soulbarb: Hope that Nocturne will be able to get ahold of Imagine to try and mount a rescue operation, 'cause otherwise she's probably going to be stuck here for a long while. She's wary about showing herself in heroic id, imagining it will scare the locals, but for all she knows her human identity would prove just as frightening to them. She'll try to convince the locals that she's not hostile (at least not unless provoked,) learn the language, and settle in for the duration. She'll try to find and visit a local library and learn to read, on the remote possibility that she can uncover some bit of arcane lore that would let her make her way home, send out some kind of mystic homing beacon, anything, really. She might be able to support herself by 'inventing' minor bits of tech, but she's not really scientifically equipped to change the world thereby. And yes, once she's settled in, she probably would go back to fighting crime... but only once she's reasonably sure of her understanding of local law and that her actions won't get misinterpreted.

Glaive and Beastwarden: Here we go again... and this time it's not even a human-inhabited world. Fortunately (sort of) they've done this before, though last time it was a trip through time about 30,000 years into the future. Maintaining a low profile while they try to acclimate will be tougher this time around, though. Despair of ever getting home.

Diva: Activate her wristcom and dial in the nearest Galactic Federation outpost. No matter where she is in the galaxy, odds are good that Stellar or one of her ilk can get her home again in short order (like, a few hours at most.) Of course, if she's not even in the galaxy anymore, that's another matter. Still, odds are good that someone will be along to retrieve her fairly shortly, so she's not too worried. In the meantime, she'll work on trying to understand the alien language until she realizes that she's instinctively grasping what they are trying to say by reading their body language. From there, she'll rapidly become the world's foremost actress and first pop queen, largely by accident and happenstance.

Blackberry would be glad she saved the Earth!

She's pretty unflappable when it comes to stuff like this, she's "smart" in the sense of getting things pretty quickly, and she's very good at getting along with people.

Before long, she'd probably have a nice chain of businesses--most likely starting with some variation upon a bakery--running while she looked into possible solutions.

All in all, she'd look at this as hopefully just another adventure--and maybe a source of new additions to her hat collection!

Re: WWYCD: An Alien among them

Millennium Would try to appear non-threatening. Will have to push his telepathy spend some XP or make a power tricks roll to get a lock on the alien minds. Learn the language, learn the fokelore. If their myths fir the "Hero with a Thousand Faces" pattern, do exactly what he would back home. Do whatever he can to help people, while encouraging and inspiring all of them to get in touch with their hero within.

Cheetah Two big questions (1) do they have competative athletics and (2) is is physically possible for him to have sex with their women? If so, he'll adapt. If the answer to either question is no, the next question is can he get, and stay, drunk on the local brew?

Iron Will As a techno-mage, he probably would be able to find his way home. But will have a long talk with their scientist first, bring them up to speed and their scientific knowledge up to 21st century Earth, while looking to see if they found anything we overlooked. 50 years? That means they have vacuum tubes, possibly some transistors, no integrated circuits.

Snow Leopard First will experiment with her weather control powers. Are they stronger, weaker, or about the same as on Earth? Then will attempt to help out until she is rescued.

Dolphin After learning the language, and discovering there are no meta-humanoids here, will be careful not to exibit more strength, durability, or adaptability than the locals. Will try to teach them what he knows about biology, ecology, and karma, then will try to learn about the marine biology of their world. Alone among my characters, he is aware that universal balance requires that the presence of a superhero must spawn a supervillian, or it may be that his "Mr. Glass" was here already, and that's why he was drawn accross the dimensions. Will do his best to blend in with the locals until "Mr. Glass" appears.

Panweesio: Go invisible, study the locals until it's possible to pass as one (using Images, Self-only). Have to pose as a mute, not knowing the lingo. Getting home? Pray like **** a teammate follows.

Glarg: Smash and smash and smash. Think Hulk with a bad attitude.

Thena: Goes home. She wants to be somewhere, she goes there, end of discussion.

Re: WWYCD: An Alien among them

Badger-Well he is half-alien, so that isnt much different. The language barrier is gonna hurt. If they attack, well he isnt that much of a hero to not fight back and kill them. He wouldnt really want to but....he will do what he has to. If things are pretty much like Earth (as in food is similar just different looking) he will be alright. He might try to detect his friend's energies but unless it is only a couple stars away that will be worthless (and that is even optimistic).

Frosty Bob- Shoot first and.....shoot some more.:D

Re: WWYCD: An Alien among them

Myrmidon: "Well, this is different." Thanks to his armored suit, he can speak and understand any language, so he'll pick up the lingo pretty quick. He would probably contact the government and inform them of the situation. He would also assure then, in no uncertain terms, that he was a person with whom they did not want to mess (he doesn't trust governments much). He would then work on establishing where, exactly, he was, and how to get home. He would probably have to "invent" a whole lot of technology in order to do so.

Blur!!: "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" :fear: She would probably run completely around the entire planet, several times, causing sonic booms to follow behind her like a string of pearls. Eventually, she would realize that Myrmidon and the others would come to save her. On realizing this, she would do what she did at home -- fight crime and battle injustice! Not knowing the language, she would speak loudly (like that's any different) and slowly (for her, at least) and gesticulate wildly whenever she needed to communicate.

Tank: Tank is a freak wherever he goes, so this isn't much different. He would contact the government and ask to join the military. He does so much better when he's following orders.

Chevelier: "I sink perhaps I am no longer in Kansas, no?" She would lay low while she figured out where she was and tried to come up with a way to get home. Eventually, her sense of adventure and justice would get the better of her, and she would begin going out at night, covering herself up to disguise her true nature, and stopping crimes. In other words, she would be a superhero!

Re: WWYCD: An Alien among them

Queen of Spades would be really disturbed that she's no longer in Kansas, as the saying goes. At least it's an Earth-compatable world, so she focuses on the important things, like finding edible food, shelter, and someplace really out of the way to do her best to cobble up together some sort of long-range transmitter in hopes of contacting someone who at least knows where Earth is. (Granted, she doesn't know that sort of tech, but at least a hydrogen turbine isn't difficult to put together.) Eventually she'll have to figure out the local language--it's a little tough to do so, but she can handle it. With a little scouting around, she could learn more about the place and the people that inhabit it, hopefully find someway to improve the local tech around there.

She'd be worried about what happens back on Earth, of course--if she stays too long out here, she'll have to figure out a way to cover up her Secret ID's dissapearance.

Re: WWYCD: An Alien among them

Fore Eyes: Having forseen this, but not a way to avoid it, Fore Eyes pulls out the prepared cards with phrases like "Do not Panic", "I am not a threat" and "Please direct me to the proper authorities" on them (He 'does' have Universal Translation, but only of text). He keeps the more useful ones ("Please direct me to the restroom", "How much for this item->", etc. for his long quest to get home).

Hardball: Runs to find somewhere to hide before the authorities turn up (he has no desire to be locked up even for his own safety). Spends the following days and weeks getting aclimatised and then tries to make the best of a bad situation. Continues patroling, may become a local hero or a wanted felon because of it.

Snapdragon would shapeshift into one of the locals and would be very discreet about her moving around until she at least had some idea about the local language.

Quantum carrying what ammounts to a green lantern power ring he'd head up into the stratosphere and start making some calculations to figure ut where he was because he can actualy find his way home.

Re: WWYCD: An Alien among them

Adonis would do his best to calm people down. Assuming that no hunt to destroy the alien is launched against him, Adonis would pretty much have to settle down and attempt to build a life here. Adonis lacks any relevant skills to get him home, and isn't with a team currently. Depending on how close to human they were Adonis may or may not use his shape-shifting to look like them. Even if they were not close enough to human for him to match them exactly, over time he would subconsciously be using his shape-shifting to bring his appearance more in line with the local standards of attractiveness.

Boost would also attempt to make do until rescue arrives, but lacks any skills or powers that would make for anything interesting to discuss here.

Re: WWYCD: An Alien among them

Microman II: Should be able to work out the language soon enough. Doesn't have the tech skills to really build anything so extreme as interstellar spacecraft, so he's stuck for the forseeable until help arrives. He'd probably try and help any way he could, give them a good impression of Earth people. Probably be tempted to try and uplift them at least a little.

Diomedes: If he's lucky, Athena will help him cheat a little in learning the language quickly. Otherwise, lots of evasion until he can get oriented. Has no way of getting back, and his teammates don't have the resources to come after him, so he'd assume that he'll be stuck their for life. Given his skills, he won't make that big a difference on the planet.

Jack Frost: Learning the language will be a pain. Hopefully, he'll Luck out, and someone native is working on language translation. Otherwise, he's gotta hope he can pass himself off as nonhostile. His team does have enough resources and contacts to have a hope of tracking him down, though. Also, the stresses of the unusual situation might reveal his unusual heritage. . .

Hermes: Language not a problem, he'll learn it in seconds. Convincing the natives he's nonhostile won't be a problem. At this point, okay, you've just dropped a supergenius speedster from a world with "advanced ancient + steampunk" tech level, into a world with essentially modern tech, unsupervised. After he finishes assimilating the local science, he'll begin offering to uplift them, which between the weirder technology he knows and simple supergenius development of their own tech, he could do. He could get himself home eventually ( build a ship, figure out relative position based on astronomical observation ), but frankly, his friends back home and various time travellers will be hoping to get to him first. Can't imagine why. ;)
