  1. Now that’s a book I don’t have. Thanks!
  2. So a STR Min of 8 or 10 then? Btw I’m not against reducing the DC of the spear one handed bit rather I don’t want to mess with the -1 OCV.

    Spears

I’ve just noticed something about spears. In FHC (and probably most Fantasy Hero stuff) a Short Spear is listed as a 2 handed weapon which is fine. However I play other games where the spear can used one handed albeit with lower damage. Again that’s fine. The issue I have is a spear having a STR Min of 12 (at least in FHC) that seems awfully high. So should I change the spear to a 11/2 handed weapon and or lower the STR Min. ?
  4. @Duke Bushido, I went with my youngest to see the D&D movie. And we enjoyed it. It was a fun action packed movie. My son couldn’t believe how long it was because it didn’t seem that long.
  5. I thought using Burnout on Spells. Iirc Burnout you use the Power first then roll and each time you use it the roll to avoid goes down. I figured then to get rid of Burnout would be resting. I figure (and I never used it) is that you get at least one use of it and you get to choose if you want to use it again BUT there is some potential drawbacks if you do. 6. I asked something like this along tome ago. I was going to put a fictional Canadian City right across Lake Erie as I lived in Erie at the time.
  7. Seriously though is there any game system that can’t be min/maxed if its a point buy?
  8. I gotta disagree here. I’ve just had another Basic Fantasy game and winged portions of it. The funny thing is my boys and nephew kept asking how to do stuff in Hero terms-which is fine. My nephew asked if he can try to trip the goblin, after scanning the rules-which the closest the rules have is wrestling, I said roll. I was going to fudge something if he succeeded. Unfortunately he wasn’t successful. I allowed someone to shield punch too during the fight. After all these years I understood that if there wasn’t a rule-make one and go with it. So it really can be easier than Hero System.
  9. Could there be a sequel” Beyond Thunder-chrome!”
  10. @Opal, I think (think mind you) that you and I are on the same page. That’s one thing I rather dislike about some people’s understanding of playing OSR. The idea that even if I’m and elf, I’m really just me in the Fantasy world. No, if I’m and Elf then I’ll try to act like an elf. Really its the thief thing that gets me. I don’t know how a trap works in life however my character does so why is he getting penalized?
  11. I’m going to ask for it for Father’s Day.
  12. GM joe, I might be misremembering but when Trip was reintroduced (or to me introduced) and the argument was why do I need to upgrade to 6th, a point was made that you could already Trip, its just a renamed Throw.
  13. Well, that’s a good thing isn’t it? At least I would think so.
  14. How does Social Mechanics make the world anymore or less malleable than it already is? I’m confused on that point.
  15. I should’ve thought of looking there.
  16. A while ago I watched (a rather decent) martial arts movie where the protagonist learned the new Iron/Steel swords. However it was taught in private because the ruling class wanted to keep tradition and still with Bronze. Naturally one of the evil rulers frames the steel using sect and there is a great blood shed and revenge. But its an interesting twist.
  17. It doesn’t work unless you scream “EXTERMINATE!” 😁
  18. I can see the argument to be also that if you wanted to grab several opponents at once, then each additional opponent the TK should lose 5 STR per additional one. I base this Spreading an Energy Blast.
  19. Thanks for the kind words @Duke Bushido! Though I haven't been to the Hero System Dojang in a while. I do get rusty of some of the rules. 😁
  20. Wait, what maneuver replaced Sweep in 6th ed? I’d allow that with TK grab with all the penalties of course.
  21. Its the same in 6th ed. For years I thought I had to buy many different version of throw however if you read the description of Martial Throw it says you can use it to describe several types of real world throws. If you really wanted too (and I don’t think you have personally) you could buy Variable Special Effect for say Offensive Strike and that would cover any type of Strike you could describe. Though I would limit those to what ever style you bought.
  22. @Duke Bushido, I agree with @Hugh Neilson that what he describes is a form of Roleplaying. What you describe is also Roleplaying too. I agree with Matt Colville’s definition. As long as you describe and have the character do what the character would and not you then its roleplaying. What you are describing are degrees of roleplaying.
  23. I believe you cannot abort once you commit to a Haymaker.
