Even though I never got into Traveller, this is well done. I plan to use some of this for Champions games for bases, vehicles, etc.

Since archer brought it up, and it relates to END usage...

He said, " If I'm a GM, I'm really only picky about players tracking their END if their characters are built so that they always run out of END quickly or if they're prone to pushing during combat or doing other things which are abusive."

A player cannot push his attack unless it's a life-threatening, earth-shaking, etc etc necessity. It's not a player option to use whenever he/she feels like they want to use it. In earlier versions, it was also stated a character cannot push unless the GM agrees you can push an attack.

Actually, I apparently still have about 50 1st/2nd ed character sheets printed off, waiting to be used. Hmmm....

Oh yes, the Vic Dal Chele silhouettes! I ran off a mountain of those character sheets simply to have practice of doing the colors. We found out early that you had to photocopy your “edits” ( at the time done with Pilot Razor Points and White Out) because the Prismacolor or Staedtler markers wouldn’t color over the White Out. Even those with minimal artistic skill, joined in at the table, wth a pile of colorful markers and a few comic books for “reference”’designing heroes and villains for fun and future use. Good times... good times

The campaign determines what role a disadvantage/complication such as secret identity has, if allowed. Superspeedsters cannot exist using actual science. Superheroic campaigns are above modern day rules, including forensics, dna, etc because that's the genre. For anyone to try to force real life rules on a superheroic game seems silly, since superheroes don't exist in real life anyways. Since superpowers exist, so does the possibility of secret identities and the ability to keep them secret. Alot of this emphasis seems to be applicable to a gritty-feel campaign.

And a side note, I just watched Batman: Bad Blood, and I think anyone who shoots at a Hero automatically takes a -3 OCV. But only with guns.

You shouldn't have to pay 300 pts or even 195 pts to stop a power that possibly only costs 20 or 30 points to buy. What about Extra-Dimensional TP, 1 level Megascale, Usuable as Attack, only to teleport object away/back the way the came? Can throw on charges that last 1 turn/hour/etc.

Why should you have to pay alot?  I'm replaying to Bolo who set no campaign guidelines to his original request.  A power to prevent EDM that costs huge amounts goes against something one of the Champions books said. I don't have it in front of me so I'll paraphrase "The defense should be cheaper than the attack."  As we all know, a power can be built many different ways with different costs. Bolo was general but specific only in trying to emulate an 8th lvl spell. However, you seem to be very specific about a campaign situation (It was the GM that allowed EDM to being with. And to be brought by this character in particular) so I feel like I'm missing something since Bolo didn't mention any particular campaign, GM or character. I'm a bit confused.

    massey said etc quote:

"If a half-dozen agents show up, all with OAF ice blasters, they don't benefit unless you use the power on them individually as well.  But you have to ask yourself... how often does that kind of thing happen?  In 20+ years of playing Champions, I don't think I've ever seen a bunch of agents show up with ice weapons.  You may be worrying about a situation that will never occur in game."

No one can say that when I GM .

In Ultimate energy blaster it describe using special effects to add a small advantage based on situation.  So a wet person is more conductive than a dry person.  The easiest thing is as a GM, you hand wave it and give the attack a penalty or bonus and explain it as such.  In the case of a wet person, the attack might give +1 OCV or maybe +1DC to a blast or KA.  It might add +1 Body to an entangle.  It could also add 5 normal defense to a fire or heat attack. I would say 5 active points of advantage for the situation should be enough.  Just be sure to be consistent.

Tech got a reaction from Lord Liaden in Omicron Technology
The original concept for Ripper's omicron armor is from Stronghold Volume 1 (1981), which says little about it. "Transferred to a military hospital in the states, Allison recovered somewhat, only to be told by his doctors that he was dying from the radiation he had received. The doctors could offer him the only chance at survival -- Project Omicron. This project had been developing certain human augmentation devices for military use. The devices were adapted to Allison, and managed to keep him alive."

In this version, Ripper's berserk is from his twisted mind, trying to escape his past; nothing to do with pain.

So, even if someone has more information on the Omicron Technology/Project Omicron, go with whatever background you want for it that fits your campaign.

    Hear!  Hear!

I don't know if this helps you, but we flatly ignore the self-healing rules.  Like from Day One of the introduction of Healing.  What we've always done, since Day One, is require at the time of purchase that it be defined as "Self" or "Others" (buy it twice if you want to do both) and let it ride.

Now I know I'm going to get comments about how this will totally disrupt my game and cause all kinds of balance issues, but we've been doing it for a long, _long_ time, and all I can say about it is "No; it has no effect whatsoever, and allows people to build the character they want."  Just a big 'ol win-win for us.

I can't tell you what 6e does for Healing-- read most of it, once, and it left enough of a taste in my mouth that I likely won't ever do it again.  Vaguely remember being unhappy with what 5e did to adjustment powers here and there, so I am _not_ able to present you with a "rules-legal" concept, but if you'll permit me, I would like to offer you this:

Build your Healing, Self-only (-0) at whatever Healing level you feel like you want.  If I recall, there's a method to increase the max capacity like any other Adjustment Power.  If there isn't, then steal that ability from the Adjustment Powers and apply it to your Healing as you would any other Adjustment Power.

Use the Limitations "Concentrate" and "Extra Time" (I _think_ I understand what you want-- though I may be completely wrong-- and I think those Limitations will provide it.

(I think I stopped with 6e- the Powers sections, anyway-- when I saw that a nice, simple build like Transfer had become a mandatory cobble.  Not sure how I made it past Hand-to-Hand attack costs X but is automatically Y active points.  Sure; that's how we've always done it.  But if you're going to turn Transfer into a mandatory cobble, why change a time-honored existing cobble into unique, special-circumstance rule?)

    Hi guys,
just wanted to say hi, as I have just created a new account here.

I originally played Champions back in 2nd edition and played all the way through until 5th. Although I have not touched it in probably at least a good ten years, so I’m very rusty!
i have gm’d and played many other games as well and currently run a 2 year fog Star Wars game that is kind of creaking at the seams as the players are so powerful now. It’s my opinion the game does not handle heroes of experience particularly well and it’s getting harder to challenge them by the session!

Anyway I’m thinking of converting over to hero as it handles different power levels so well. I own 6th but not really read it as was hugely put off by the decoupling I’d figured characteristics which I always loved. How easy is it to mix and match aspects of the different editions?

    Anyway hi guys!

Folks (And I do mean more than one, not trying to single ANYONE person out, but this seems a good thread to bring it up...again)

Only in referring to cancer (the medical condition, not the poster) And COVID (In the Coronavirus thread) are we supposed to use a certain F word on these boards. The Admins have in the past reminded folks that while we tend towards older demographics we want this to be a family friendly board over all. SO...  I mention this now and then, and yet still if I do a search, folks ignore it..a lot.

So far my options appear to be...
    Start issuing warnings and infractions
Clear them up only to have them happen again
    a mix of above
Or... entertain myself in how I edit the F word because it really gets tedious.

So if you start seeing comments like "I really fluttershyed up at work today" where you thought more standard language was. Now you know why.

And if I start to think folks are doing this deliberately just to see how fun it could be, I'll consider that making more work for me, surrender, and just go straight to the warnings or more likely infactions.

    Black Tie

Englishman Patrick Wallace discovered early on in life that he had an odd ability to change objects directions but only when they were moving. He would have just used this for an occasional prank on his friends. However, when his gaffer laid him off for no apparent reason, he used his power for revenge to make the gaffer fall down a set of stairs instead of walking by it. It occurred to him that he could actually use his ability to make money while gallivanting around the isles. However, he needed to do this with style, to stand out from the rest of those boorish supervillains. Adopting a 'white tie attire' but using a black tie instead, he used what money he'd saved to have a special cane made. His first robbery was at a fine society dinner, which was a huge success. It was so successful he could travel where he pleased, at least for a year. It was fun but he knew of the real possibility of running into a superhero someday. He spent a large amount of money to train for fighting, and enhance his attire. Finally, Black Tie was ready.

Patrick has an innate ability to change anything's trajectory but it must already be in motion: it can be as simple as making someone move slightly to the left or right, or as severe as making a moving truck make a 90 degree turn. In combat, Patrick is very hard to hit because he wills objects to avoid hitting him, even a punch aimed at him. If he can react fast enough, he can even change a blast of energy to strike somewhere else other than his person. When using his power, he decided to occasionally use the phrase "Here's a little english for you." His suit is durable and protective, but not bullet-proof. His cane shoots a dazzling laser to stun or blind his opponents. He uses his cane to direct attacks away from him, making heroes think that his cane is the source of his power. This way, if he is captured, he can use his power to get away at a later time before being locked up.
