  1. Re: How much do you customize the setting? I have never used an established setting in any game. Only rarely have I ever used canon characters. Of course, back when I started playing, Champions was just Champions printed in black and white Courier font and there was no CU.
  2. Re: How to convince a hero group that they should be registered and work for governme It says something about modern comic-book cynicism that no group of players in their right minds will ever trust anyone to have go/no-go authority over them in a supers game.
  3. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Udk 3 Tutorials... Bleh
  4. Re: Jokes It's the gritty realism, isn't it? Sands to reason.
  5. Re: Would your Hero endorse a polititian? I had a character endorse a politician once. Signed her name on his backside and franked him with the official stamp. It left a mark
  6. Re: A Fantasy World Map with something for everyone (well except RexMundi, no Hyboria And where is Ankh-Morpork?
  7. Re: How Fast an Horse can Go? Back when I had a horse, I usually caught him by rattling a bucket. I have more willpower to resist the oats than he did. I will point out that one does not necessarily have to put shoes on horses to improve their performance. I've had better luck, even on hard rocky ground with a good rounded trimming. No more tender feet, yay! Too much shoeing, on the other hand, can really tear up the hooves.

  9. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... Like Shards of Honor, Cryoburn is a clearly set up for a following book. Unlike Shards of Honor, its internal conclusion leaves something to be desired. I still recommend it though, as Bujold's lesser works are still, heh, Miles above most other writers.
  10. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... wouldn't that be a standard-doubling (usually worth 5 pts in Hero System...)
  11. Re: Single Most Powerful Super Hero EVER!!! Batman. With sufficient preparation and the occasional bat gadget, he can beat anyone.
  12. Re: Villainous Motivations Variations on a theme: Curiosity: What will happen if I do....this? Trying to understand: You have killed several people, but you don't like it when I hurt you. Why is that?
  13. Re: Flame manipulation? So... what happens when you separate the fire from the fuel? Yay! discussing physics in games!
  14. Re: Query's Art & Stuff Thread Some more animation video from my Game Art and Design Class http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VJ3yAYtxKA
  15. Re: The Economy of Red Herrings Cue a million OOC comments about looking for the guy with the "quest-giver" icon over his head. Seriously, that was the first thing I thought of.
  16. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From Teh Bunneh's Foxton game. The list of dramatis personae has become rather massive, but these quotes more or less speak for themselves. Master Gunn, Baron du Clef's master of the forest, is recruiting local poachers to take part in a werewolf hunt (as bait as it turns out). Master Gunn: You have killed Norman Poacher: Who's Norman? Master Gunn: The Deer. Didn't you know the Baron has started naming them. He was very fond of Norman Poacher (Wailing): We didn't know it was Norman! Master Gunn talks to the baron's huntmistress, Featherlight Yewstrong. Master Gunn: Would you like to go on a dangerous hunt. Featherlight: "Dangerous hunt. " Two of my favorite words and so very close to each other. Master Gunn: How do you feel about Lycanthropy? Featherlight: Giving or receiving? Nikki, an insane druid, tries to seduce Quion, the baron's clerk, who is the world's most sexually repressed human being. Quion (OOC): She only knows two spells: Mordickain's massive innuendo and groping hands.
  17. Re: Greased Is The Word Nightwatch [brandishing badge] "Freeze! This is the LAW!"
  18. Re: Icons - The Costume and Superpowers Store I fand that GM intervention in character creation is frequently necessary even with (or perhaps especially with) experienced players, albeit for the opposite reason. "No no no you cannot buy followers on a focus!"
  19. Re: I hope we have cooler looking cars than this in the future. It looks more like a fancy computer mouse than a vehicle. Do I right click or left click.
  20. Re: Gargantua in Villians Volume Three Curse you Typo Gremlins! I'll get you next time!
  21. Re: Past and Future collide Nightwatch: First, go to Texas in 1836 and personally kick Santa Anna's butt. Then find Dr. Soro and keep hitting him in the face until he makes the time ju-ju stop.
