  1. It would probably be very tough to be completely cut off from friends, family, and the world in which you grew up so I could see why the characters might want to leave the crew. Hanging around in the past or future just isn't the same as living in the present because you can't pick up your phone or come to these forums to check up on what your friends are doing. For example. what are you supposed to post in the Politics thread in 2015 if you already know the results of the 2016 election? (Oh, Bernie, we hardly knew you....)
  2. There's so little LSH material that you'd think they'd have it available just as filler, if for no other reason.
  3. If it's any comfort, that's just a get-out-the-vote ploy the administration is doing to the Religious Right. It isn't as if the administration is going to actually do anything, any more than Bush Jr. was serious about his October surprise policy initiatives to motivate the Religious Right to get out and vote. The Republican establishment, and now Trump, treat the Religious Right as if they were Charlie Brown and a football. If they actually checked off anything on the agenda of the Religious Right, they don't have a clue as to how they'd motivate those people to show up to vote in the next election. That blind spot in their thinking might sound odd to Democrats who generally try to fulfill the agendas of their various constituencies then depend on loyalty in the next election cycle, but the Republican establishment hasn't ever figured out that paradigm.
  4. That's certainly what Netflix, Hulu, and the rest of the world wants. But network executives have an astounding ability to ignore the obvious.
  5. I would love to see Netfix pick up the Wild Cards universe and run with it.
  6. Lottery calculations work out better if your group is not only buying tickets but are also the ones who are selling the tickets. I once tried working out the numbers for everyone in my office building buying their tickets through a lottery ticket business which we would set up inside the building. It helps the numbers quite a bit when you put in the co-op automatically getting 1/20th the cost of every ticket sold plus the co-op's share for every big winner. I mean, the lottery is still a huge waste of money. But if you're going to do it, becoming a member of a co-op and everyone buying all their tickets through it is better than going it alone.
  7. In a lot of fiction, being "invisible" grants what invisibility does in HERO plus a bunch of levels of DCV. So I would suggest buying the triggered invisibility with linked or limited levels of DCV as being the most straightforward answer.
  8. I would have preferred Rockies - Red Sox but I'd settle for Dodgers - Red Sox. I just have zero interest in seeing the Brewers on my TV screen.
  9. Ringworld Something about having an area much larger than all the worlds of Known Space combined within reach of ground vehicles has always caught my imagination.
  10. Suppress Extra Limb (only usable on limbs which are not extra limbs +2)
  11. Universal Psychological Complication: Not as smart as he thinks he is
  12. I can wait until it shows up on basic cable and not feel like I'm missing anything. The only reason I've cared about the symbiote at all is the connection to Flash Thompson and Spider-Man...and this movie does away with both of those ties.
  13. Who can resist the gadgeteer? I mean, other than the people who are answering this poll....
  14. http://sandhillsexpress.com/state-news/students-report-illness-after-consuming-kangaroo-meat-at-western-nebraska-school/ Students report illness after consuming kangaroo meat at western Nebraska school No word on whether shrimp-on-the-barbie is still allowed.
  15. Atomic Death-Sword Bird Guy made his hero-ing debut by providing security for contestants standing in line for Let's Make a Deal. From there, it was just a short walk across the street to become a greeter at Disneyland. America has never been safer.
  16. The movie was discussed in passing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thread.
  17. Don't keep us in suspense! Which party would that be?
  18. I don't remember ever being truly terrified but the flying monkeys from the Wizard of Oz were something I found to be disturbing.
  19. "Traps are just open casting calls for heroes."
  20. Methinks every time I see someone on twitch playing Spore, it is so their main character can have an abnormally large phallus (as compared to total body mass).

    Star Trek RPG

This is probably what you are looking for. It's got a 5 part PDF of conversions of The Next Generation into HERO. Star Trek history, package deals for various races, and all the rest. Very, very detailed. Not sure how correct it is but at first glance it is...fascinating. https://web.archive.org/web/20040603010804/http://www.starherofandom.com:80/h_trekhero/index.php You might also look at this website which converts Prime Directive RPG, set in the Star Fleet Universe (sort of Star Trek TOS for a game system that has a deal with Paramount but apparently doesn't have the license for the Star Trek name). http://www.seenar.com/category/prime-directive/ There's also a free PDF for Prime Directive here, no conversion to HERO but maybe some useful background for a universe which is mostly Star Trek but diverges from established Star Trek history. The site also has a ton of other links for free things from Prime Directive and Star Fleet Battles as well as things like a chart to tell you what a "Class M" planet really means in Star trek lingo. http://www.starfleetgames.com/pdindex.shtml
  22. If the eyes were easily removed and didn't damage the statue at all, it was funny. If it damaged the statue or we had to pay government workers for a couple of hours of work to restore the statue, I don't find that part to be funny at all. It's like when CLOWN put that huge dashed line across the state of Florida with the words "Cut Here". That was mildly funny until a passing alien ship followed the instructions and cut Florida in half.
  23. The 4th amendment was so old-fashioned though....
  24. I'm allergic to the aspartame which they use as a sweetener rather than sugar. I don't like lime and my wife hates mango and artificial orange. So if I bought any of it, I'd go with the cherry. I really, really like a flavorful cherry cola.
