    Half-Golem?

Re: Half-Golem? I'd avoid that mechanic, as it gets complicated quickly. The duplication rules allow the Hydra to have multiple attacks that are independent - each head has it's own SPD and moves in it's own Phases - I don't think that's what you're after when you have a mechanical arm or leg, and if it is I suspect you're going to have complicated play sessions. If it were me as GM, I would probably rule that damage to the golem part still imparts shock to the physical body, but would more defenses with limitations. Maybe look at Damage Reduction with limitations. Another approach would be to purchase the limbs as OIF - this separates the damage they take from the damage the player takes. Killer Shrike has some good information (doesn't he always ) on doing this for Cybernetics, which is really the same mechanically, just a different SFX.
  2. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine Since you're using Vista, you might find it easier to use the built in Snipping Tool, which can be found in Start->All Programs->Accessories. With this tool you can choose what part of the screen to capture. I recommend saving the images as PNGs - they have lossless compression and work well for this type of image.
  3. Re: Kamarathin: Kingdom of Tursh Review Great review - repped. I also purchased this product based on this review... well, not entirely - I had already heard good things about it on this site and I wanted to support the effort to create it, but I hadn't gotten around to it yet. Based on this review I finally got off my duff and made the purchase - I'm looking forward to reading it.

    Beholder

Re: Beholder I just looked up the 4E Beholder - the Eye Tyrant version (the level 19 version) has all the classic eyes, and can use two per round but must be on different targets: Searing Ray - Damage Withering Ray - damage with ongoing effect Sleep Ray - puts target to sleep TK Ray Hold Ray Confusion Ray - cause target to attack its nearest ally Fear Ray - Run away, run away! Petrifying Ray - petrified (two saves to get there) Death Ray - kills target (two saves to get there) Disintegrate Ray - damage with ongoing effect There is an ability called Eye Ray Frenzy which allows it to attack with up to 4 eyes. The Central Eye can daze the opponent. There is still a wide variety of attack types, but it does seem as if the mayhem they can cause in a singe round has been reduced.

    Beholder

Re: Beholder D&D 4E is as valid a FRP game as any other game. While I have never played it, I have read the rules and the mechanics are clean and relatively simple, and what makes a good game is the players (including the DM). That aside - it is a shame they've simplified the beholder. I feel the separate eyestalks are important to the concept, and agree that it should be implemented similar to the Hydra. There was a book produced by TSR years ago for the beholder that discusses ecology and society - Paizo has the PDF version for relatively cheap if anyone was interested: http://paizo.com/store/byCompany/w/wizardsOfTheCoast/byProductType/roleplayingGames/dungeonsDragons/aDAndD2/rulebooks/monsterBooks/v5748btpy7mr2&source=search
  6. Re: Continuing Adventures of Cindy Pretty good stuff. Is there a writeup for her?

  8. Re: And off we go! This is some really great stuff, thanks for sharing it with us and please keep it coming. I have to spread rep around or I would hit you with some. I really like the feel of the world you have - do you have more information on it, like maybe the religions you have?
  9. Re: It pay to listen to the stories of your Grandfathers That's so awesome, especially the end.
  10. Re: Norse Campaign Journal Sounds like you had a lot of fun - keep it coming please, I'm enjoying the story so far.
  11. Re: How i can make The Ravager cows away I agree with KS and would add there's nothing saying you have to allow a 60 AP attack, if it's too powerful lower the AP value.
  12. Re: Shadowsoul's Monster Corner Cool urban monster; repped.
  13. Re: Four legged robot with creepily realistic movements That thing is cool, and creepy. The movements are clearly not organic, but have a weird organic nature to them, making it somewhat unsettling to watch. Very cool to see how well it does, this will be interesting to see where this goes.

    Maelstrom

Re: Maelstrom Interesting powers. Not to nit-pick, but did you really mean 28 kg? That's about 61 lbs, so I would say that he's definitely not overly muscled
  15. Re: dark champions from each of the 50 states
  16. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine Reminded me a lot of Tales of the Gold Monkey.
  17. Re: Papermodels For Champions Cool stuff - thanks for the links and the model. Repped!
  18. Re: Purple Powers I'm going to have to go with Edsel and Sketchpad and think some kind of grape based attack. Seriously, I would probably think magic/mysticism, gravity, or some type of strange radiation, but it could be anything.
  19. Re: dark champions from each of the 50 states Cool Much better than what I imagine a Casino themed Nevadan would have been. As a Nevada resident, I'm happy to see someone come up with something non-casino. Must spread rep around blah blah blah

    Bat gear

Re: Bat gear Didn't sound catty to me. I'm pretty sure everyone appreciates the amazing effort and possibly OCD level attention to detail this took . Repped
  21. Re: Fantasy Art Thread Ouch - that's going to leave a mark. misteradam, I really like your style.
  22. Re: Help with the Regeneration Power? Looks like a build that doesn't completely specify every part of it. If not why require the advantages and limitations at all? And that is what is not internally consistent.
  23. Re: Help with the Regeneration Power? That's a very good point; it is consistent in that regard. I don't personally have a big problem with it, but it is annoying the way it is written up (basically I agree with you ). I would personally prefer either to see it as either a separate power entirely or as an optional variant of Healing but forgoe the build mechanics. It is the fact that it is built, but with restrictions on how it must be built, that I have the biggest issue with and is IMO not internally consistent.
  24. Re: Help with the Regeneration Power? Actually, since HERO Games is the owner and creator of the HERO System, however they choose to write the rules are the rules. If they decided that Regeneration was a modification of Change Environment for 6e and put it in there, the statement "Obviously Regeneration was put in Change Environment because it is a modification of Change Environment" would be true. It would be true because they are writing the rules and get to decide what is and is not a modification of some other power. Having said that, it would not be internally consistent. I don't want to put words in people's mouths, but I believe that is what people mean when they say it is "broken" or "fiat". It isn't internally consistent now. It is more consistent than it would be if it were put in Change Environment, but it's still not internally consistent. I believe it is both a build and optional rules. If it looks like a duck, and it walks like a duck... Sure looks like a build to me. I'm sure someone will chime in that just because it looks like a build doesn't mean it is a build, but if you have to buy advantages and apply limitations to it, it is being built. I can understand the logical desire to put Regeneration in the Healing power - it seems to behave, in some ways, like healing. But it is fundamentally different from Healing, and because of that and the way that it is built (yes, built, because that's what it is) it is tripping people up. It doesn't fit. It smells bad. It is not internally consistent. It is also far more complicated now than it used to be, and for no benefit other than making it part of a power it shares very little in common with.
