Point Cost of Bases
Ok, the rules for real point costs of bases seem to elude me. I mean it seems simple enough, 1 pt. for every 5 pts. that a base costs, just like vehicles. The only problem is that whenever an example is shown it never seems to work out that way. First question, if a base has disad. do you subtract them from the cost of stats/powers/skills of the base? If not why have disadvantages since it doesn't give more points to build a base. Second, I am thinking of building a sanctum sanctorum for my PC who is a mage. If I wanted to represent the building's mystical defenses with mental defense, i.e. it is obviously harder to attack him on his own turf, how would I do that. Woul…

Transform & Dispel
Since transform is an attack power that heals back would it not be more appropriate to have to use healing to reverse the damage. Dispelling Transforms seems akin to Dispelling HKA. (Unless it was a situational transform.) P.S.: If this is an inappropriate question just say so I will get over it and repost on HERO System.

More Question on Transfrom
If a character has a 5d6 major transform ....a person into a demon. Which adds powers, which in result add bdy. What does a dispell have to roll to dispell the power example: Darkside transforms a normal (8bdy) into a demon worth 100points more then the normal (+20bdy) so he has to transfrom 36 bdy to turn the normal into a demon. What must be rolled to dispell it?

Transforming Foci
Question...Can Transforms work vs foci? In a Fantasy setting a shortsword is a 1d6 Hand Killing Attack could you transform it into say a magic sword of 2d6 (adding 15 points of abilitie for say 3 more bdy as i understand it) that would make it ...active 15/5=3x2+3=9bdy to transform it this seems awefull cheap Or in a superheroic turning recoils gun multipower into slag would cost 30 bdy to do (for a 75 act pool) which is not so cheap to be to powerful but could also be done cheaper as a rka or other attack power. on the other hand adding 25 points of power to the pool only costs 5 more bdy to the transform.

combat maneuvers
I've always struggled with what would be the best way to get combat maneuvers for characters who know more than one fighting style. So far I've thought of two ways to resolve this. 1. I would not make a character pay twice for the same maneuver if the two are basically alike (e.g. a Taekwondo kick and a Muay Thai kick) despite aesthetic differences. However, a martial strike with an unarmed attack should be paid for separately from a martial attack with a weapon. This also goes for weapons with different styles (rapier and battle axe). 2. I just buy the maneuvers once and buy the weapon and knowledge skills to show the character's proficiency. Option 2 woul…

CSLs and Dive for Cover...
Hey Steve, Could I please get a clarification on something I just read in the rules FAQ. According to the Rules FAQ: However, later it says: Is this a mistake? It seems strange that a 2pt CSL would do the trick while an 8pt level would be insufficient. Am I missing something? Just curious if this is either a) a mistake a nuance of the rules I'm not familiar with or c) my inability to properly come to terms with the English language at 5:49 in the AM Thanks in advance (and much appreciation) MANCER

Tunneling through creatures?
Godzilla is attacking the city. Mole Man annouces that he wants to slay the beat by Tunneling THROUGH it's body until he reaches a vital organ. Would this work? Godzilla is certainly large enough and Mole Man's Tunneling can penetrate his defenses (let's say Godzilla's rPD is 20 and Mole Man can tunnel through 21 DEF material). If this worked, it would logically deal damage each turn or movement on Mole Man's part. How much? If it can't work in game terms, how would I explain this to the player? They physics of it make perfect sense and I'd be hard-pressed to come up with a story reason why he can't Tunnel through Godzilla. Is this an example of an app…

Variable Charge Expenditures in Multipowers
What part of the charges limitation can deal with this problem: a Mulitpower slot has X charges. Some Multipower slots use more of those charges. (The old trick of having 8 charges for this slot and 4 for the other won't work because they are actually all using the same fuel. Fuel won't work because the Fuel rules assume a constant rate of use per phase.) Example: Spider Man's Web Tricks all use the same web fluid, hence the same charges, but some of his Web Tricks use more web fluid, thus more charges. Is this going to require a complex series of limitations to do or is there something I missed in the charges limitation. Have I discovered a rules permutati…

Another TK Question
Steve, there's a discussion about TK going on at the moment. I see Lord Liaden has asked one question about this power, but I have one relating to Visibility. The question relates to the extent to which it has to be clear that the power emanates from the character. Does there have to be a "tether" which is Visible throughout, an indication when the power is activated of its source, but not thereafter (eg a Green Lantern Force bubble appears from the ring, but then hovers independently), or can the TK hand, bubble, whatever just appear grabbing its target?

Spatial Awareness
Hello. The rules aren't clear on this. Does Spatial Awareness allow you to see through walls? It costs more than N-ray, so it should be able to do more, shouldn't it?

Indirect Advantage on TK
Hello, Steve. The current discussion of Telekinesis had me wondering: Given that Telekinesis is "inherently Indirect in some ways" (5E p. 147), would there be a practical benefit to buying the Indirect Advantage for TK that would not be granted with the base Power? And if so, what level of Advantage would be required to gain that benefit: +1/4, +1/2 or +3/4? As always, thanks for your time. (P.S. Really looking forward to FH!)

Draining ones own Com

OAF's with Only in Hero ID
If Avatar is a normal whom has a ring which he turns on to make him Super. Then while he turns from normal to super; a sword appears in his hand. Now this sword can be taken away incombat, does that count as OAF? I asked this because "OIHID" says you shouldnt use focus lims with it. Also if avatar has many powers that come on when he activates the ring...turning on the OIHID. Does that constitute having each power with OIHID and IIF ring...being that all powers will be lost if the ring is taken off?

Automatons and Life Support?
Hello Steve. I recently had a discussion with a player on the need of an automaton to buy Life Support. So I would like an official ruling if you have the time. Is lide support required for an automaton if he wants to be immune to standard ailments?

TK and BOECV
In the FAQ under BOECV it mentions that powers bought BOECV should, generally be able to affect inanimate objects because they have no mind. Does this also apply to TK? Such that I could use BOECV TK to pick up a person, but not a rock? chris

TK vs Indirect EB Point Cost
Hi Steve, For 50 STR of TK it costs 75 points. For a 10d6 EB Fully Indirect it costs 87 points. The way I see it a TK strike and a this Indirect EB have exactly the same functionality. They even have the same END cost. The TK purchase is obviously a lot more powerful and flexible. Am I missing something OR is this just..."That's a nice observation. If you want to change the cost of TK or Indirect in your games go ahead."?

Missile Defelection/Reflection and misses
Can a character with Missile Deflection/Reflection deflect/reflect any attacks that are targeted at her, or only the ones that would hit? Example: Zl'f has Missile Reflection (Bullets) and a DCV of 13. A gunman with an OCV of 5 opens up at her with an Autofire X5 RKA. He rolls a 6 and misses by 3. Can she still Reflect one or more of those bullets at either him or another target, or does she need to voluntarily reduce her DCV so he "hits" her in order to have "reflectable" material to work with?

SPD and Transformation Attack
I think I can extrapolate an answer, but I thought I'd ask anyway. FREd states that you can only change your SPD between turns. If I had a Transformation attack (Say a Potion) that turned someone into a creature with a higher SPD or that simply boosted the individual's SPD by a few points, would that SPD change not take effect until the next turn? Thanks for your time.

Everyman Skills
Hi Steve, according to the rules,an Everyman-Skill doesn't affect the cost of any Skill-meaning,if you got Climbing as an Everyman Skill, you still have to invest 3 Pts to buy climbing.Right? But you may sell back an Everyman Skill for 1 CP,meaning you can invest that point into anything else and still purchase that skill later on.Isn't that somewhat contradictory? Oh,by the way-you're doing a fine job with the new Hero System!

Ranged Recombination and LOS
If you have Duplication with Ranged Recombination, does the base character need to have LOS to the Duplicates in order to recombine them, or do they just need to be within the range and not protected by Hardened barriers? (Or for that matter, do all the Duplicates need to have LOS with each other?) Thanks!
