Area Effect Accurate
(Sorry if this has oficially be answered, but I have made an attept to read FAQ, and search the forums, with no luck) I am a little vague in my understanding of AE Accurate. Does a power with this advantage still target a hex or character? What modifiers would apply when shooting an EB bought with AE Accurate? Specifically... Would range penalties apply? Would cover for the target be applied? (i.e. completely surround by people when you might only be able to see his big toe) TIA! map

I have a quick question: Can a character partialy limited the Rec of an End Reserve: Ex. A lightning character who wants to have a Rec of 5 on her End Reserve, but then have a +20 for when have access to electicity If not could a character use absorbtion into End REC of a End Reserve

DC limitations: MA vs HTH
Hey Steve, Okay, a while back i commented to Dan on hero designer that it doesnt allow limitations(like OIH) on martial art damage classes. I had a character who, when in hero mode, transforms into a quasi human/dragon form. I was attempting to increase his damage for martial arts based on the fact that now his entire body is covered in hardened scales. He said i should buy it as normal hth damage classes with the limitation. but my question to you is two fold -: 1. do normal hth damage classes add to MA(i was under the impression no). 2. Why was the decision made to not allow limitations on MA damage classes as their seems to be obvious ones for weapons, etc. Tha…

Interrupted Mind Scan
If a character using a mental attack such as Mind Control or Telepathy through Mind Scan has the Mind Scan stopped (perhaps with a Suppress or Area Effect Flash vs mental powers, does that automatically "break the connection" and thus stop the attack? Would it matter at which end of the connection the Mind Scan was stopped? (Say the target has a Suppress vs. Mind Scan or Darkness vs Mental powers)?

Change environment and Environmental movement
I'm just making sure that the way I plan to do this dove-tails with the official way of doing things. I'm considering Change environment to be the "correct" way to model normal environmental effects like frost, mist and the like. If Tian Mu the weather goddess creates a fog that does a -4 Per effect do I need a bonus to Per to counter this? I am currently thinking that while that does work, an Enviro-move efffect like "Unaffected by atmospheric effects" would also do this...am I off base or is this a "style" issue? Thanx...

Double Dipping?
Steve, This is an odd situation I ran across using HeroDesigner. (I'm posting here first because I want to make sure it's doing something wrong, rules-wise, before I make a bug report.) A character with 21 Ego has +10 Mental Defense. This yields a total MD of 14. So far so good. The same character then buys another +10 Mental Defense with the "Costs END" Limitation (to represent making her mind nearly impregnable when she..er..'puts her mind to it.') HeroDesigner lists the character's total MD as 28 -- obviously it's giving the Ego/5 to EACH of the individually-bought Mental Defense powers. I'm thinking that you only get Ego/5 ONCE, no matter how many …

Darkness or Flash?
Why buy any amount of Flash when you could buy: Darkness to Sight Group 1" radius, Ranged (+1/2), Reduced Endurance 0 END (+1/2), Usable As Attack (+1) For 30 points? I don't understand how someone escapes from this. It seems to me that as long as you make your initial attack roll the target is blind until they leave the range of the attack, in this case 150", or the attacker is knocked out. PS I posted this same question in another one of the forums. I hope this is ok. I wanted to get the official ruling and also get individual opinion. Let me know if posting the same question to multiple forums is bad and it will never happen again.

Aborting to force wall vs. Moveby/through
The rules on Obstacles in 5E p239 do not explain the finer details of this question. Forgive me if this information is eslewhere, I have been unable to find it. Force Boy has a 15 PD Force wall Flyguy is flying at him at 30" attempting to do a moveby or move through. Force Boy aborts and throws up his force wall. Q. #1: Where does Force Boy need to create the wall so that Flyguy will make contact with the wall? Q. #2: What will the damage to Flyguy be for each of these maneuvers? Targeting Sense Groups question
When a sense group has some senses that are targeting and some that are not, is that sense group a targeting sense group or not? This matters when purchasing invisibility and including said sense group (along with others). An example such a sense group would be a campaign where, within the Radio sense group, "Radar" is considered a targeting sense while "radio perception" is not.

Mind Link: Hanging Up Speed
Steve-O Character A has Mind Link, tied to Character B, with the Feedback Limitation. Villain laucnhes EB at B, can A hang up before the EB hits B? Basically, how quickly can a character "hang up" from a Mind Link? Thanks, -cK

Mind Link FAQ Clarification
Steve, While reading the latest FAQ, there is a question about purchasing the Psychic Bond adder multiple times to cover multiple links. My question is, do you have to purchase the Psychic Bond multiple times if you've purchased the multiple links adder? Say I purchase Mind Link (5 pts), usable with 4 minds simultaneously (+10 pts). Do I only need one 5 pt Psychic Bond to cover all 4, or do I need to purchase it 4 times (+20 pts)? As always, thanks! Aroooo

Multiple RSR's.
Someone asked me an interesting question and it raises a question. The special effect wanted is actually a conversion from another game system. In this game system when a mage cast spells he performs a skill. The mage rolls skill dice and adds up the total. When he finally gets a total high enough (after several turns) his spell is cast. I was thinking of RSR, but using RSR it would mean that some spells would take three+ RSR. So what is the rule on multiple RSR limitations on the same power? The rules list two, can you do more than two and if so what are the effects?

Star Hero: planetary climate
Steve; I'm not clear on Star Hero's rules for planetary climate. The initial average world temperature includes the greenhouse effect of high levels of CO2 in its atmosphere. However, on worlds where life develops, most of the CO2 is removed, which brings me to this question: Should the world's temperature be adjusted for the reduced greenhouse effect, or should it stay the same? thanx heaps, DGv3.0

Question: Limitations
Hi all! I am really new with the system, and I really cant figure the limitation costs system. I will give an example: Tispy Giant Potion: Aid str 6d6 (60 active points); OAF fragile (potion, -1 1/4), only works on characters who are drunk (-1), 4 charges (-1). total cost: 14 How the #$^ 14?! i mean, i dont find an right colculate who will bring the finall cost for 14, and i cant find the page who explains about this! M16A1 Rifle in FRED
An observation: Under Active/Real costs on the weapons list, the M16A1 is listed as 73/23. The 73 for Active cost is correct but when I wrote out the weapon as a power the Real Cost came out as 21. It looks like someone forgot to figure in the value for the Two-Handed Weapon (-1/2) limitation. M16A1 Assault Rifle: RKA 2d6, +1 STUN Multiplier (+1/4), Autofire (5 shots; +1/2), 30 Charges (+1/4), OAF (-1), Real Weapon (-1/4), Beam (-1/4), Two-Handed Weapon (-1/2), STR Minimum (12 STR, doesn't add/subtract damage; -1) Plus +2 OCV, (-1) Plus +1 Penalty Level vs. Range Penalties, OAF (-1) Same goes for the AK47 since they're identical game mechanics-wise. Transforms
Would Major Transforms to turn exhausted characters into fully rejuvenated ones or deeply unconscious ones into conscious or near-conscious ones be allowable? They'd replicate effects you could get through the use of other powers (END Healing, STUN Healing), but then, Transforms into blind people replicate enormous Sight Flashes.

Duplication through focus
A character has duplication through a focus. Since the duplicates are identical they all have the same powers including the focus which is responsible for the duplication. What happens if the duplicates focus is taken away or disabled? Does the duplicate vanish? Does the Focus Vanish? Do they both Vanish? or do they both remain? or E) none of the above? Thanks.

STR with Explosion HKA
If I have a 3d6 HKA with explosion and 45 STR, do I get to do a 6d6 explosion? Or do you figure the active points of the str with explosion for the purposes of determining the added STR damage? in this example: 45 STR = 45 active points. 30 * 1.5 (Explosion +1/2) = 45 active points So, would I only get to use 30 points of STR to add 2d6 to the HKA for a total of 5d6? Or since I did not buy explosion for my STR, do I not get to add any STR to this HKA? If this is true, Should I just buy it as an Exploding RKA with no range?

Desolid And Powers That Remain On
Hi Steve, I think these are dumb questions that I just can't find in the rule book or FAQs... Setup = Character turns on a continuing power (Change Environment, Darkness, etc). After turning on the power he goes Desolid. 1) Does the continuing power stay active? If the power stays acitve can he change the way that it is deployed (i.e. the effect, the size, etc)? 2) If the character buys the continuing power with Affects Physical World/Affects Solid would it then stay active if he goes Disolid? In this case I assume he could change the way it is deployed. Thanks!

Extended Breathing Follow-Up
"A character with Extended Breathing does not Recover normally. He just expends END at a much slower rate while holding his breath." END expenditure is changed from per Phase to per (unit of time bought for Expanded Breathing)? Example: a Sperm Whale (1 END/min) motionless underwater spends END at the minimum required rate of 1 END/min, swimming underwater at 1" - 15" also spends 1 END/min, swimming underwater at 16" - 17" spends 2 END/min. Correct?

AoE and STR damage and grabs
I've read and re-read the FAQ and searched the forums and I still can't find the answer to this question, so my apologies if this has been answered already, if so I missed it, but not for lack of trying. I am also fond of run-on sentences. Anyway... With AoE on STR, the attack roll is easy. It's the damage I'm a little confused about. #1: If I have 50 STR with AoE do I get to apply 10d6 to everyone in the area assuming I hit the target hex? #2: If I grab 4 people in the area do they all fight against a 50 STR for purposes of escaping? #3: How high can I lift someone I've grabbed in the AoE? I'm assuming that an AoE is as tall as it is wide …

LS: Extended Breathing
I'll lay out my understaning of the rules regarding Extended Breathing. Please let me know if my thinking is correct, or, if not, where I am in error: A character holding his breath does not get any Recoveries, and must expend a minimum of 1 END per Phase FREd, p.285). Example: a character holding his breath and sitting still would expend 1 END/Phase, as would one running at non-combat speed (6"/Phase = 1 END, no extra cost for non-combat multiple). EC Question
Working on a character who's EC can change. The powers stay the same but the effect doesn't. Can be fire, then water, the ice, whatever. Using the Varible special effect would work, I figured anyway. I assume that I'd have to buy it for the reserve and then each "slot" as well. My question does the fact that when one "slot" changes the entire EC changes modify the cost of the advantage. I wasn't sure if it would be higher or lower or not effect at all.
