I make no apology for making this a separate post.

Mathieu Van Der Poel wins Milan San Remo a race which his grandfather also won 62 years ago

Considering who came next the rest of the Monuments will be good as will the Giro, Tour de France and Vuelta

(Filippo Ganna was second with Wout Van Aert  and Tadej Pogacar fourth)

In the womens' NCAA tournament...

From 2010-2022, every #1 seed reached the Sweet 16.  There have been 4 times where all four 1 seeds made the Final Four.  #1 seeds have played in the Elite Eight 90 out of 112 possible times...meaning they not only make the Sweet Sixteen, they win it.

Not this year.  Last night, #1 Stanford fell.  Tonight, it's Indiana.  Both falling in the round of 32.

Impossible theater, as Joe Davis says.

WBC finals.  One game.  Japan up 3-2 going into the top of the 9th, with the US batting.

Shohei Ohtani comes in to pitch.

Betts gets on, but then it's a double play.

Then up comes Mike Trout...to hit against Ohtani.

You can't write this stuff.

Actually, was 9th hitter got on before Betts. Ohtani got Betts to hit into double play, which makes it more awesome.

Oh my...

NCAA Div I hockey championships, Minnesota vs. Quinnipiac.  Yeah, the smaller NCAA sports get schools you'd never expect in the title game or as champs.  This is Quinnipiac's 3rd time in the finals.

Minnesota has the lead for most of the game...2-0 after 1, 2-1 after 2.  Late penalty with about 3 minutes left;  Quinnipiac also pulls the goalie at about the 2 minute mark, and punch it in to tie the game.

In the OT...if you blinked you missed it.  Win the faceoff...clearing pass...advancing pass, cross-ice pass to a wide open skater...POW!!!!!  10 seconds into the OT, Quinnipiac scores to win their first ever national title.  They actually only moved to Div I about 20 years ago.

Also in hockey tonight, the Boston Bruins tied the record for most wins in a season...62.  This might be another of those with an asterisk, tho, because there are no ties.  The record was set in 95 when there were...tied in the 2018-19 season, when the tie was gone.  Still...they're 20 points ahead of the 2nd best record in the league.  It's absolutely been a *dominant* season.

Tiger has to withdraw from the Masters, and one *really* has to wonder if he can continue to play.

https://golf.com/news/tiger-woods-masters-withdrawal-unsettling-detail/

At the top of the leaderboard...weather, and falling trees, meant some players had as many as 30 holes to play, starting this morning early, then going off split tees to get the final round complete in time for the TV coverage window.  Brooks Koepka had a 4 shot lead as play restarted...but fades while Jon Rahm gets hot to win by 4 strokes.
