Lord Liaden Posted August 24, 2023 Report Share Posted August 24, 2023 Since we're talking news, Russian media hailed the launch of Luna-25 as a great accomplishment, a return to Russian leadership in space exploration. The crash OTOH has received little play. The official Russian space agency, Roskosmos, announced that the probe's engines had put Luna-25 into a "pre-landing orbit" but failed to shut down properly, forcing the probe down so that it "ceased to exist as a result of a collision with the lunar surface.” That's quite the euphemism for "crashed." Well, word is now, there were warning signs going back a ways...and nothing was done. You can imagine how well THAT went over.
