Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now?

"Tea and Sympathy" by Janis Ian.

Pass the tea and sympathy for the good old days long gone

We'll drink a toast to those who most believe in what they've won

It's a long, long time 'til morning plays wasted on the dawn

And I'll not write another line, for my true love is gone

When the guests have gone, I'll tidy up the rooms

And turn the covers down, and gazing at the moon

Will pray to go quite mad and live in long ago

When you and I were one, so very long ago

Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now?

I found this treasure on Youtube. The 20th century conductor Leopold Stokowski (the most famous orchestral leader of his day -- he conducted the score to Disney's Fantasia and famously eschewed the use of the traditional conductor's baton) was a great admirer of Bach and arranged many of his pieces for the full orchestras he conducted. This is one such piece: the notorious "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor" made famous by supervillains everywhere. The remarkable thing is that this recording was made in 1927 with the Philadelphia Orchestra (where Stokowski was Musical Director) and is still remarkably preserved more than eighty years later.
