I did a web search for "Best shows on Amazon Prime" in an effort to find something new for us to watch and came up with:

James May: Our Man in....Italy: Travelogue show in the style of Jeremy Clarkson. Seems OK one episode in, but it also seems likely the silliness will get way too repetitive after a few episodes.

As We See It: A dramedy series about three 20-something roommates who are on the autism spectrum and the people in their lives. Pretty good so far (one episode in).

Maigret

This is season 2 of the 1960s version of the French detective with Rupert Davies as Maigret. The old scenes of Paris are wonderful. It is a little stagey but it works. Recommended viewing.

Steel Bayonet

WW2 set film in Africa of 1943. One unit has to occupy a farmhouse close to German lines in order to intercept German movements and convince them that they are a larger contingent if attacked. The British are under strength and get only a small amount of replacement troops. The Germans eventually attack in force and use tanks although their senior officers are angry that the British have delayed them so long. However the radio is still open and artillery is brought down on them. Worth one look.

Laura

This 1944 film has a detective falling in love with a woman who has been murdered only for her to turn up alive and well. Dana Andrews is the detective trying to solve a murder. It is initially told in flashback as you see how the woman came to prominence and then is killed.

Revenge of the Zombies

A mad scientist is trying to help Hitler win the war with zombies. Only this was made in 1943 with John Carradine as said mad scientist. Worth a look.

Strait-Jacket

Joan Crawford is a woman being released from a mental asylum where she was sent after killing her husband and his mistress. It looks as if she is going mad again when while staying with her daughter people begin dying. Interesting little horror/thriller.

Killers From Space

A scientist disappears during an A-bomb test, the plane he was in crashes but his body is not found. He turns up back at the base with a strange scar. It turns out aliens have brought him back to life and are using him as their puppet. He works out that he can destroy them with a shutdown of power at the local plant. Peter Graves is the scientist. Worth one look but don't especially seek it out.

Revenge of the Zombies and Killers from Space appear to be available for streaming through the Internet Archive at Archive.org , at least here in the US.

The Outer Limits season 1

The original series from the 1960s. If I have one overarching criticism is that is over-reliant on aliens as cause and effect. Some of the alien costumes are also a bit sad. It has a whole bunch of actors familiar to film audiences like Robert Duvall, Robert Culp , Cliff Robertson and Donald Pleasence. Actors who would have recurring TV roles also appeared like Martin Landau, Leonard Nimoy and David McCallum. Worth seeing for where the control voice will take you.

Rock You Sinners

A guy comes up with the idea to showcase rock and roll acts on TV. And that is about it. No-one people would know as this is British 1950s.

The Six Men

Six men are part of a criminal syndicate but after one is killed on a job after panicking, someone compiles a list to bring the remaining five to justice. There is a twist. Could easily be adapted for Dark Champions, Champions and Pulp Hero.

Quatermass 2

In my less than humble opinion, the best of the three Quatermass films. Small meteorites are detected striking earth and Quatermass witnesses what happens when someone who was near one when it opens is carried off by strange men. Quatermass is upset that funding for the moon project has been cut off and his rocket is unstable. One of his team is then injured by a meteor and Quatermass sees his project in full size at a village which has been replaced wholesale. The same goons carry his colleague off. Quatermas works with a London police officer and with an MP gets into the base. The MP is killed by a toxic slime and other visitors are being co-opted against their will. Quatermass escapes. With the police officer and a journalist he returns only for a meteor shower to cause havoc at a community centre where workers are angry at being laid off from working at the plant. The goons appear and grab someone who the meteor has injured but kill the journalist who is trying to broadcast the news. Quatermass gets inside the plant disguised as one of the goon squad. He sees inside one of the domes as the slime is forming into a massive creature. Before suspicious goons can o something about him the workers turn up at the gates and end up storming them. They take up residence in pressure control despite being fired on. Quatermass pours pure oxygen into the domes while his colleagues try to launch the unstable rocket at an asteroid which is launching the small meteors. The team member who was injured earlier turns up with the goons but they fail to stop the rocket's launch although they fatally wound the scientist involved. At the plant all is chaos although some of the villagers want to negotiate and are taken to see the domes.  They are killed and are used to block the pipes to the domes. Their friends are so annoyed they open fire on the domes and cause them to break open freeing the things inside. Quatermass and friends have to flee the gigantic beings and the goons. The rocket finds and destroys the asteroid leading to the deaths of the beings and the freeing of the goons. Brian Donlevy is Quatermass and it is a nice change to see him play the good guy. He returns in the role having played it in the first Quatermass film. i have seen this film more than once it is worth multiple watches but see the original Quatermass film first.

The Saint's Return

This 1950s film predates the TV version by over a decade. Although George Sanders had played the Saint, this time it was Louis Hayward who played the Saint in 1938 retuning here after 15 years. After a woman is chased and caused to crash, the Saint comes to London as she has cabled asking him for help. He finds she was linked to a gambling t=racket which at the time was illegal in Britain. Not satisfied that her death was an accident he tries to find who is in charge and punish them. The Saint also has to outwit the police who are after him as well. He gets assistance from a woman who is being forced to work with the gang responsible. It ties together nicely. Dated but enjoyable.

D.O.A. (1949)

Onto a classic. A man goes into a police station to report a murder, his own. Taking a break from work in San Francisco, a man ends up being poisoned and has a limited time to work out whodunnit and why. Someone has tried contacting him but has then killed himself. Or has he ? Edmond O'Brien is the man and the film also has one of Neville Brand's first roles. Worth repeated viewings.

Dalekmania

Made in 1995 this looks at the two films made in the 1960s of the first two Dalek stories and t\their overall impact. Terry Nation and several of the actors contribute. Howvere Roy Castle and Peter Cushing had both died by this time. For Dalek and Dr Who fans mainly.

The Very Best Of Peter Sellers

This only looks at his comedy films like the Pink Panther films, Two Way Stretch, the Ladykillers and Dr Strangelove. It is mainly a clip show but A Shot in the Dark and the Pink Panther are not featured. Not bad but not good.

Private Elvis

This looks at Elvis as he joins the army and includes the death of his mother. Mainly for Elvis completists.

Terminator Dark Fate

Linda Hamilton and Arnold reunite as a different Terminator future threatens all. It is alright but....

The London Nobody Knows

James Mason is our guide in 1967 London. Worth seeing for Mason alone

Bloodshot

Vin Diesel is a soldier brought back to life with nanite technology after someone engineers the death of his wife and his death. Vin determines to go adfter the person responsible only to find out that the company involved are secretly rewriting his memories. It is not bad.

Columbo night gave us Columbo versus another Patrick McGoohan murderer with Sgt Burke back on the scene. I think I recognized the guy helping McGoohan's character with his alibi but I don't know where. Stanley Kamel was on hand as the campaign manager for the governor running for president. Again the murder is kicked off by blackmail.
