Re: A Thread for Random Musings

Every so often the first post of this thread should be read:

I feel the need to spew random thoughts onto a public board from time to time so I thought I'd start up a thread to do it. Of course everyone else is welcome to spew here also--the only rule is that you cannot reply to someone else's post. Each post should have as little to do with the others as possible.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings

I had a macho moment yesterday, pushing for a new 1rm in the bench press. I made it, passing my best efforts even when I was in shape. Now my hands and wrists are killing me.

Note to self: Don't do that again without working up to it. Sometimes your tendons can't pay the check your brain can write.

Back. I've never been a flight that had to abort landing before. Still not sure what the reason was, but the plane was just about to touch down when the pilot pulled back up again and circled.

The next flight was annoying. I couldn't sit properly. Damn small seats.

Todays schedule: Sleep. Maybe another shower.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings

The beginning of a recent spam message:

In F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, The Great Gatsby, the subject, Jay Gatsby,

eludes extensive description of character. During the extent of the

narrative the reader creates his own opinion of the individual. Fitzgerald

intended this to create suspicion towards Gatsby. Despite the questionable

characteristics, Fitzgerald did have reason for describing Gatsby as

"great". Such a reason is not clearly found on the surface, but more so on

his driving spirit and determination. From the introduction of Gatsby's

character he is constantly being driven by his dreams of Daisy. No obstacle

was impenetrable. This trait of Gatsby is what makes him "great". In a

lifestyle and society of careless and irresponsible people he seems pure.

Unlike others who merely exist to entertain themselves, he did not acquire

wealth for his own comfort, but for Daisy. An example of his pursuit for his

dream and not for shallow amusement is his parties. Gatsby often holds

exciting parties with interesting people, in which no expense is spared, but

he himself barely makes an appearance at them. This shows that he does not

wish to have a good time he is only after his dream.

(end of spam)

Okay, back to bed for me now.

I love being an immigrant. I spent 75% of the first year here sick, basically. Now I've got some new bug from the little barbarians I call my children. And its a doozy (worse than anything so far). I keep telling myself that I now have an immune system largely adapted to two continents. Joy. Such attainments.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings

Of the top 78 posters (those with a Post Count of 1,000 or more) only 6 joined in 2004 or later.

Of the top 21 posters (those with a Post Count of 3,000 or more) only 2 joined in 2004 or later.

Everyone else in those groups joined in 2003 - usually early 2003.

I seem to be the most prolific non-NGD poster who joined in 2004 or later.

I think I just found out where all my free time went.

My brother has a cross eyed cat.

The Pink Panther wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Ofcourse it was free...

Disney lacks the creativity to remake their own movies convincingly.

My mom told me she was coming over tuesday, now she says tomorrow. Glad I scrubbed the toilet tonight.

I am a bad bad man when it comes to finances, and I work for a bank.

You are definately one of the most prolific posters period, I'm sure. Average posts per day is around 5.5 or something.
