  1. If only NWN allowed for 3D movement like the original teaser did with the spider scene(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5Aow7bL83I).
  2. Life Support Immunity: All terrestrial diseases Safe Environment: Intense Cold, Intense Heat (I hate the cold and I'm prone to heat exhaustion) Flight: about 300 MPH, (no need to be greedy) The ability to heal others of disease and injury (if I'm gonna be blessed with powers, I'd want to be able to give onto others as well)
  3. It does make me think, if they did make Champions as a 3D extension of the tabletop game, how they would handle stuff like collateral damage to the surrounding areas?
  4. Any fault in this is totally on Cryptic as Simon said as I was trying to reply to this thread. I felt the same way about a computerized Champions back when they were trying to do a 2D computer RPG as indicated on this Computer Gaming World cover.
  5. Acct name: @cptpatriot You can see most of my characters' costumes here. Here is my current list of characters: Psi-kick Enermatrix Mistress White Velocity Fire Shockwave Pyroblaster Liberty Lillith Captain Patriot Platinum Fox Dr. Caduceus Thrasher Savant Powerstar Weatherette Fusionette Faultline Pulp Hero Ultra Flare Hellequin Surge
  6. I keep getting my butt handed to me fighting Ironclad and Durotak.
  7. My problem with playing/running a Fantasy Hero game has always been that there is no frame of reference to playing the game. The GMs and I always end up using D&D equipment charts to save time in creating entire equipment sheets. I believe any Fantasy book should use CC or 6E1 & 6E2 as rule references with Fantasy specific stuff to allow players to jump into making/playing a game quickly. Many people have experience with D&D before coming to Hero and are familiar with either "Vancian" magic from D&D 3.x and Pathfinder or Event based magic, in the case of D&D 4th Ed. (reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_(...#Spell_systems[/url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_(gaming)#Spell_systems]). If there was a Fantasy Magic Companion with ready made magic systems they could pick one and get started. Once they have a taste for how flexible the Hero System is, they'll expand on the systems provided for truly custom magic.
  8. Just an FYI, I am still carrying the torch, so if you want to contact me, try via here or in game.
  9. I originally came up with this character when I attempted to learn the 4th edition by making versions of different heroes from the comics. I tried to do Superman and learned the hard way that Superman is almost impossible to do on 250 and have him remotely near what I saw in the comics. Now, I felt a reboot of my very first Champions character. Not quite finished yet in the Complications area, but I can't help feel something is missing about him. Ultraman is Dean Deegan was a farmer in Kansa, when he found a wierd plant pod attached to the remains of a meteorite that crashed on his father's property. The pod burst as he approached the meteorite and he breathed in the spores. The spores immediately died in the environment but the alien spores Dean breathed in interacted with his body chemistry in an unusual way. He had lost consciousness that night, but when he awoke, he found increased strength and better health. It wasn't until after several months working in the sun that he realized his metagene was activated giving him powers and abilities far beyond those of normal men. His powers are based on a symbiosis between himself and the alien spores his body absorbed.
  10. Re: Purpose Built Team Suggestions Well, I for one would like to welcome you to CO. As for the archetypes, I've never played them, so I can't offer a recommendation, however, perhaps you could find some of your fellow ex-CoXers on the CoX or CoH channels and get some advice there.
  11. Re: Your Not Any Hero Of Note Unless You Have Cross-Time Versions Of Yourself. I have never seen a version of Superman with 2-5 before.
  12. Re: Rules Question: TWF + Rapid attack, is it this simple? Two weapon fighting (TWF) essentially gives +2 to offset sweep penalties, rapid attack allows you to make a sweep attack in a half-phase rather than a full phase. So you can make a 1/2 move before attacking but you cannot make 2 sweep attacks in a single phase. The attack still is the last thing that can be done during your action..
  13. Re: Potions How about this? Trap Cake: Cosmetic Transform 1d6 (Transforms Person to Pink Person, Heals back after a Heartfelt Apology to the person you stole the cake from), Partial Transform (+1/2), Constant (+1/2) (6 Active Points); 1 Continuing Charge lasting 1 Minute (-1), IAF (-1/2)
  14. Re: 2013, year of the snake On the day of the chinese new year, simultaneous strikes in multiple cities in the middle of the day with automated distractions set up to keep the heroes busy while the crimes is afoot. The daylight attacks will get plenty of press attention and the obvious relationship with the new year will make sure the everyman will have the capers in mind and possibly even aid in recruitment.
  15. Re: Looking For Input On Potential New Fantasy Product What if, in addition to the physical book, you offered a mini companion PDF with a small campaign setting to get them started? That way you can keep the cost of the book down and still give them something of a value add.

    Omnia

Re: Omnia What comic was that image from?
  17. I was working to make an attack that would simulate 2 smaller attacks. I could have gone the autofire route, but I was thinking if I did the whole attack as Reduced Penetration, it would also simulate 2 smaller attacks, but it dawned on me that the attacks were now too weak to be effective at all. Here is an example of a partially limited power with Reduced Penetration: Sample Attack: (Total: 60 Active Cost, 52 Real Cost) Blast 8d6 (40 Active Points); Reduced Penetration (-1/4) (Real Cost: 32) plus Blast 4d6 (Real Cost: 20) Now I was wondering, what if only part of the power was Reduced Penetration? Do you half the dice affected by the limitation and add the result of the remaining dice to each half? Something seems wrong about that approach. What do you think?
  18. Re: Mortal Kombat characters? They played the magic card.
  19. Re: Holiday event I haven't heard of any but I'm always willing.
  20. Re: Genius Tricks How about extra STR, Only to escape from Grabs & Entangles, Needs INT Roll? He can think his way out of any trap.
  21. Re: [LoH, Social] Dec. 22, 4 pm Server/Pacific 4PM? Damn I read the event wrong. I thought it was 7PM server time
  22. Re: Superhero Costume Party Cpt. Patriot would probably dress as a Minuteman because of his flagsuit nature. He has no secret identity to hide. Psi-kick would avoid a superhero costume like the plague to avoid any possible confusion to being a hero. Enermatrix, would have to be dragged to the party by a friend; she thinks of herself more of a scientist/hero than the party girl she was in high school. The type of costume wouldn't matter to her.
  23. Re: Possible City of Heroes campaign CoV used to be a separate game until the two sides were integrated.
  24. I read the following backstory from a site that apparently deals with Damsel in Distress superheroine video, so to avoid sending any non-adults to the site, I'll attempt to be responsible and only quote the backstory here. Backstory: Rachel Stark was brought up by her Aunt and Uncle after her parents were killed in a car accident. Her childhood was difficult due to her Aunts resentment at having to pay to bring up a child that was not her own. As Rachel grew she formed the opinion that families and friends were ‘over-rated’ and struck out on her own as soon as she could. Her life was changed in her late teens when she came to the aid of a woman being mugged. With one simple punch she floored the mugger, knocking him unconscious. She found that she possessed an amazing energy in her fists, and being the enterprising sort she formulated a plan to bring down a drugs organisation, posing as debt collector to gain trust before destroying the drugs stash and taking all of their money. All the while her strength was increasing, and she seemed to have a need to expel her energy. She had suffered from epileptic seizures since childhood, but they had ceased when she began using her fists on muggers and punching bags. Regularly however she could feel energy building in her and needed to exercise heavily to quell it. Next she took up gymnastics. Her powers were becoming so acute that she rose to Olympic standards in just a few months. The drawback being that this created a buzz and led journalists to her gymnastic club. She was very reluctant to appear on camera because of her previous brushes with drugs gangs, however one viewer would change her life… His name was Michael Sampson, and it was his job to assemble people with special abilities for a new internationally backed anti-terrorism unit to be called ‘Elite Force’. Michael personally oversaw Rachel’s training and was astonished by her abilities. She was by far the most powerful person they had found to that point, and would only ever be surpassed by Miss Freedom several years later. Rachel was given the moniker ‘Powerstar’ and set about fighting crime at home and abroad with gusto. In truth the build up of energy in her body was becoming a menace, forcing her to work all day and most of the night. It denied her any hope of a meaningful relationship. She kept this situation under wraps for as long as possible. Now, the idea of being subject to seizures if your energy levels are too high seemed like an interesting angle to try to use but besides a simple Physical Complication, how would you write it up?
