Message sent, I hope it is not too serious and he recovers fully soon.

I've never understood the issue.  When I GM, if the player is new to the system, I or another player will help them.  But overall l let my players track their own.

I'll admit I preferred the original 1 END for 5 over the current 1 END for 10.  But tracking END isn't a difficult concept and it was one of the key factors that brought me to Hero in the first place.

For those among my friends and followers who know Scott Bennie - or who know his work - I have the difficult news that he has been hospitalized and undergone surgery. I do not know what his current condition is, but according to his sister, he is undergoing significant rehab. He has no access to a computer or the Internet and is very much cut off. As I understand it, you can send him an email address to the following address, using the following information to ensure a message is hand-delivered to him by the Volunteer Resource team. This will be the only way he knows friends and fans are thinking of him. youvegotmail.ARH@fraserhealth.ca Robert Scott Bennie Unit: Baker 3 Room 109

The easiest way to figure out the damage from a normal penetrating attack is to count the body rolled.  That is the minimum amount of stun the target takes no matter how high his defenses are.  If the regular damage is higher than the minimum the target takes the regular damage.

For a killing attack it is slightly different.  In that case you count the amount of body you would have done (before defense) if the attack was a normal attack.  That is the minimum amount of body the target takes.  Again if the regular damage is higher than the minimum damage the target takes the regular damage.  The stun multiplier is handled as normal, but the target like normal you take at least 1 stun per body taken.

So as Grailknight said you take 7 stun 0 body.  But you take a minimum of 5 stun no matter how high your defenses are.  If the attack had been a killing attack and the defense were resistant you would have taken 7 body.  If you had 15 points or higher of resistant def you would take 5 body.

Hello @asab33! What is sounds like is that what you need is flight: gliding limitation. Offhand I think what you want for “requires visible light” is just special effects. However if you can’t use it in Darkness/night then it’s worth a limitation value.

Christopher R Taylor reacted to Chris Goodwin in Heroic Martial Arts, weapons, and Damage Classes in 6E
In a heroic campaign where no points are paid for weapons (and where they have the STR Minimum and Real Weapon Limitations by default), the "base damage" for the weapon is its listed damage value (6e2 p. 99 under Toolkitting); its maximum damage is limited to double its base damage no matter how many methods are used to add damage (6e2 p. 199 under STR Minimum and 6e2 p. 201 under Real Weapon).

Since you mention that it's a Heroic campaign, I'm starting with the assumption that the weapons in question are taken from a list (either in one of the books or provided by the GM), that the characters don't pay points for them, and that they include the STR Minimum and Real Weapon Limitations.  The base damage would therefore be that of the weapon (2d6 in our case), and damage added by all other sources (including STR, Martial Arts Damage Classes, maneuvers, Skill Levels, Weapon Master) count toward its doubled maximum (which would be 4d6).  The GM is given the option to allow more than double, at the risk of damaging the weapon; both STR Minimum and Real Weapon specify that the weapon would take the full amount of damage the weapon does to the target, and so would probably break.

(A fist does not count as a Real Weapon for purposes of that Limitation, and is typically not considered to fall under the "double base damage" rule in any case; a fist's "base damage" is equal to the character's STR, along with any purchased Martial Arts DCs or Hand-to-hand Attack.)

I hope this answers your question; if not, feel free to follow up with another Rules Question.

I remember Alpha Flight from back before Marvel stopped producing comics.  I really enjoyed the series.

IIRC they shuttered their doors in the mid 90s.  I've always thought it sad that comics no longer exist.

There's no doubt that keeping a group is the hardest thing about face-to-face gaming, and it becomes more difficult the older you get:  first there's "adult things" that start getting in the way-- work, overtime, rescheduling, marriage--

There there are spousal things; then there are childcare things, then you cruise along for a couple of years and then there are medical things....

Yeah; it's not easy.   I won't lie: mostly, I've just been very, very fortunate with my groups.

You know, even when I was a kid, I just assume those were cheerleaser skirts, with the shirts underneath.  And I would _like_ to think the Great Scott would arrive at a similar solution.

I would give Fast Draw some kind of bonus, because its a special skill and ability the character spent points for.  Everyone has a DEX roll.  Fast Draw represents someone that has extra skill in taking an action before others can react.  I recommend looking at the Showdown section in Western Hero (which will be updated and in the new edition when it comes out) which covers two people trying to act before each other at the same time.

As the executive producer, I can assure everyone that Zach Snyder had considerable input on the WW84 movie and its writing.  The author of that essay on Heroes though, he has it right: Jenkin is great at getting best performances out of women in her movies (the men are kind of bleh but fair enough, most women in other movies are bleh.  You're supposed to like the love interest because she's pretty and that's about it) but she's not much of a writer.

Zach Snyder can do good work but he needs to stay far the hell away from anything involving superheroes or good guys, because his view of the world is Sucker Punch.  He should have no power or input whatsoever with making DC comic movies.  None.

A decent article overall, but the criticism of WW84 is exaggerated for effect.  Any sequel to the original WW film was going to have to explain why WW wasn't openly fighting evil for however many decades had passed between movies.  Furthermore, by the end of the first film Diana was struggling to reconcile her ideals with a hostile and disappointing real world.  Despite this, in WW84 we clearly see that she still fights injustice and crime on at least a small scale.  Superman can have a secret ID, why can't WW?  "Dread Ayesha" is laughably over the top.

On top of that, there's this conceit that superheroes like WW have their character set in stone once the origin story is over.  It's core to the genre, I get it.  But it makes for lousy storytelling.  The only way for a writer to create dramatic tension with an overpowered character like WW is to set her at odds against herself.  Again, Superman once reversed time in order to "resurrect" his SO, and in fact he never did have to deal with the death of his true love the way Diana does.  To insist that WW would have, or should have, immediately given up Trevor out of "prudence" or whatever, is to expect her to be a machine.  And still in the end she does deliberately give him up--again, a greater sacrifice than is asked of any other JL member.

    That said... yeah, Snyder sucks.

Life Support works okay unless you're wanting to do something else with the water like put out a fire or transform dirt to mud.

The simplest way I used is Life Support with limited charges in a focus, with the special effect: summoned water.  You hand someone the water in a container that you "summoned" and they can drink it, to give them LS for the time period of the charges in it.

    Yes, and yes.

However, I don't generally let NPCs notice in time (unless, of course, the needs of the scene demand at least an attempt) for two reasons:

    1) they are not the focus of the story, and their actions should not reduce the value of the player characters

    2) generally, they have SPD 1-3, centering on 2.25 (yes; I just checked my most recent batch of NPCs and did the math).  They rarely have an action available anyway.  Even in combats, most of them have already either declared dodging or blocking, or aborted to something self-serving.

I think modern ideas of jurisprudence and the value of human life often cause people to not think clearly about historical earth or other cultures.  What we think isn't really worth fighting over, people in the past used to kill for.

Mark Williams, like me (not that I put myself in his category) needed a better inker.  With better inks and coloring, his stuff would look brilliant.  Just good coloring makes a huge difference.  Some stuff doesn't stand up as well in B&W
