  4. Re: Thoughts on Damage Negation (6e) I like it both for the 'bullets bounce off him' superhero Brick, and the improved consistency of damage to vehicles. For instance, now I can make a vehicle immune up to, say, a .50 cal MG (3d6K) by buying nine levels of Damage Negation. Sure, I could also either (1) rule as GM that KAs vs vehicles always do SER damage, (2) buy 10 or 11 DEF plus 8 or 7 DEF Only Against 3d6 And Less KAs, or (3) just buy 18 DEF... but this seems more elegant (less clunky) to me. I will note, however, that Damage Negation is an exception to the Hero System 'every attack should have a defense, and the defense should be considerably cheaper' rule.

  7. Re: Star HERO with... not magic, really, but... My advice: decide the result you want, then figure out a way to get there. Some possibilities: * Minimum distance from a gravity well (as you mentioned above) * FTL acceleration/deceleration are not equal; perhaps you can keep accelerating at some rate, then a planetary gravity well allows almost instantaneous deceleration * FTL acceleration/deceleration is not linear, so maybe the first parsec takes a week, then to 50LY is two weeks, then to 100LY is three weeks.

  10. Re: The SUPER Defense Power (6E) The first thing I thought of when seeing this Power was, "Perfect for Vehicles! Now I can take 9 DCs of Negation and have my APC or Starship hull invulnerable to the .50 cal machine gun without having to buy 18 DEF." Also useful for Brick characters in Champions. Although, with the Stun Lotto gone in 6e, not as much need for it for bricks... All in all, a nice addition to the system.

  20. Re: GM Justice Inc Quandry Also coming in late - the *car's* DCV took the 15 hits, not the *player's * DCVs. As stated by others, take into account the DEF of the car's skin before applying any damage. Are you using any particular Hit Location chart for the car? Really, what kind of continuation is most dramatic/appropriate for the situation? Initial hail of SMG fire shreds the car but occupants are (mostly) intact? A captured scenario? Something else? Pick the outcome, then direct the cliffhanger that way. Oh, and please, post back with what you decided and how it went!
