OK, somehow, I'm not sure why, I'm only just now discovering Larry Correia's Monster Hunters International series. I'm not sure why it took me so long. I blame you other people on the forum. Got the first two books on audiobook, about 1/3 of the way through the first book. Thank God for my daily three hour round trip commute (Boston traffic SUCKS).

Finally got around to picking up the RPG and prepping to run it for my gaming group. It seems a little unfortunately timed that the RPG came out Legion since there were major changes that happened in Nemesis and there was almost no time gap between Legion and Nemesis. If you are setting your game, like I will be after Nemesis there are some major changes especially with the MCB. Dwayne Myers is dead. Director Stark has "retired" from MCB for medical reasons. The new Acting Director of the MCB is Cueto. Cueto was a Strike Team "trigger puller" who worked his way up to unit commander. Described as a shaved head, muscular, grizzled looking warrior. Was a old friend and co…

How common is it in your campaigns for a PC to have Weaponmaster: Guns?

Hey all! So in your campaigns are the PCs members of MHI, or is MHI "the competition? It seems to me that having the PCs as the "low rent option" to MHI, forced to live off of PUFF payments and cover all the overhead, would be more of a challenge for the players.

My group will be starting a Vampire Diaries/The Originals style game. Has anyone here made characters for the shows or have any ideas?

Last month I asked a lot of questions to figure out combat with MHI and the Hero system in general. Thank you so much for your advice and help. So after running my first adventure I have to say I kind of like the system. But it also raised some more questions. One in particular is that it seemed like the players stunned the monsters easily, but could not touch their body. They were using guns with multi-fire (five shots), by the time they shot 5 times in one phase and accounted for the extra stun damage from hit locations, the poor wererat had taken 40-50 more points of stun damage even after accounting for PD. So they might have taken a point or two of body, …

Hi all. I recently found the MHI Books and loved them. Then I found the game and was excited. I have never used or played the Hero System before, but I am not new to RPG - I started with 2nd edition D&D and played all the diffrent editions since then. I have played (or ran) adventures in Fate, GURPS (a long time ago), the old FASA Star Trek, and several others I cannot remember right now. That being said I started with character Generation and figured that out easily enough and there is a lot about the system I am liking, BUT I cannot figure out how to run combat in the system. Can some one explain it to me or point me in the direction of a post I could l…

Okay, I got all of my MHI stuff through the Kickstarter and we're finally getting around to playing in my game group. When I looked at my MHI folder on my computer I see that I have a bunch of files in .HDC format. I can't remember what the heck they were or even exactly where those came from but I can't open them. I downloaded FastPictureViewer whic is what Windows recommended but it didn't work. Anyone have any ideas? Some of the file folders with the HDC content are: - Sample NPCS - Gimme that Old Time religion - Journeys of the Sorcerer - New Kids in Town - Soul Man Any help would be greatly appreciated! Tim

(Mostly posting this so I don't have to see the "Sharp Stake" post in the preview anymore. LOL) In the Buffy game, they use this great mechanic. You can play as a "White Hat" or "Hero." I will quote Wikipedia: I've played this and it's quite fun. Would you, as GM and game organizer, try to incorporate this mechanic? If so, how?

So with it being October, the realty site my wife gets emails from sent us a link to the following: http://www.trulia.com/local/64735/type:zombie_risk_unnaturalHazards Apparently it is a modded Environmental Risk program (normally for fire, flood, etc) that has Zombie Infestation, Ghost Sighting, and Vampire Hunting Grounds as special filters. I thought someone here might get some use out of it until they take it down.

I was lucky enough to get in on the Kickstarter project, and got lots of goodies, particularly a number of PDF's with an adventure and monsters and NPC's and magic items; is there any schedule when these PDF's will be available in the online store, and other online stores?

So I'm new to the whole HERO system; I cut my teeth on Pathfinder/GURPS. This is my first attempt to use this thing and the sheer amount of stats makes my head swim a bit. I'm getting past that, sort of, but the big problem I'm hitting is... what's a reasonable stat? I mean technically I can crank these things through the roof at chargen, but I have no idea what a 'good starting template' would be. I checked out the MHI Hunter template, but that seems relatively... weak... somehow. I have -no- idea what number values to shoot for! Help!

So... I've run into a wall in chargen. The game says you don't buy your gear with points. Fair enough. But there's no cost listed for ingame cash either. So... how do I know what to pay for a gun, say?

Hi all, I'm getting ready to launch an MHI Session with my group, and decided to simplify things for everyone by modifying the 6th Edition spreadsheet that's floating around out there. It doesn't look nearly as pretty, but since we're going to be playing using a virtual table top, no one is going to be printing this. I wanted to share it with the community, and since I'm apparently unable to share it by uploading it directly, here's a link to it in my Dropbox folder. *** Edit *** See link below for the sheet. Happy Hunting. T

I'm a newbie to the Hero system, haven't bought other books than Dark Champions years ago, but I'm planning to get into the game seriously. Monster Hunter International seems like a good starting point, but how complete is it in terms of rules and character options and such? Is it really a stand-alone book for a new GM to pick up for example?

I need a crash course in combat skills as they relate to character generation. The rule book seems fuzzy to me. Also, can anyone point to any other resources on the subject. For example, I see "+1 HTH" or "+1 with Firearms" in sample character sheets but no description of a HTH or Firearms skill in the rule set.

Initially I was going to run a "new" group to MHI but after much work I have worked up a new monster hunter group. Monster Hunter Alpha and Legion show us there are many more groups large and small. Has anyone else started exploring this theme? I see a few breakouts. A group like TALON, totally bootstrapped with no idea that there is PUFF. They had day jobs! A group like Paranormal Tactical. A completely modern group of hunters with a good source of funding. Grimm Berlin a hunting group set in other than the USA?

I've found several HERO 6th Edition character sheets, but is the character sheet from the MCI book available as a PDF? If not, would it be possible to add it to the download section, as it's slightly different than the standard HERO 6th sheet? Thanks! /Paul

I have just finished Larry Correia's Hard Magic, Book 1 of the Grimnoir Chronicles. Setting: Around 1850 (1st record case) people started to develop magical abilities - one specific power. This has changed the worlds development and altered global powers. It is now the 1930s and the world is on the brink of greater change. It is a worthwhile and enjoyable read. My point for mentioning it is that it seems like an interesting setting with a lot of potential development. I have been considering writing a game based on it for my club. However with Monster Hunter International on the market I was wondering what the possibility of The Grimnoir Chronicles being …
