Okay, I know that creating aliens in and of itself is not so hard, but I'm a little rusty and could use some insight from the brilliant folks here on the hero boards. Basically what I want is this: The alien in my star hero campaign is from an alternate dimension. They do not have corporeal bodies as we do and are capable of taking over the bodies of humans. Their bodies are more like smoke and they can go just about anywhere that is not hermetically sealed. This also serves as their typical method of taking over the bodies of humans. They just enter the human through the various "openings" and basically set up shop. After entering the alien strips the brain of any u…

Every time I've played in a sci-fi campaign where the universe was entirely GM created, it has been a big disaster. The main reason for that was that everybody brought there own assumptions to the game, and acted as if that was the tech level. One GM and I had a disagreement about whether my pilot's evasive maneuvers would send people hurtling around the bridge of our small ship. He said yes (Star Trek fan), I thought not (Babylon 5 fan). Sure he was the GM, and it's his campaign, but he never said we didn't have seatbelts. He assumed we'd all just figure there were no seat restraints and we all figured there would be restraints, so nobody thought to discuss it. Num…

Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic 1 2

I just finished playing the computer game "Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic". Great adventure game! It had me thinking what it might be like to play in a role-playing game using that setting. Unfortunately, I have never played in a successful science fiction role-playing game -- not using Hero or any other system. They all seemed to die after a few sessions, but I'm not sure why. I have played in several and also run a few myself, and I have grown to think that SF just doesn't work in an RPG. Have you played in a successful SF game, preferably a "space fantasy" like Star Wars, and preferably using Hero? If so, I'd like to hear about it, and what you think …

I was mulling over various SF novels that would be good inspiration for Star Hero campaigns. Perhaps you can think of others. Many of these are out of print, but copies can be found at http://www.bookfinder.com The Star of the Guardians series by Margaret Weis. A Star-Wars-esque type space opera, but with sinister overtones. Example: there are laser beam swords. "Ah! Light Sabers!" But with a sinister overtone. The swords have needles in the hilts that are inserted into your palm. It seems that the swords are powered with human blood. Ick. And not just anybody's blood either, if you are not of the royal blood-line the sword will induce an incurable cancer. …

I'm working on a new campaign for Star Hero. Basically I've taken some elements from Terran Empire mixed them up a bit, added in elements from a particular sci-fi series that The Horror will recognize, and put in a new background. But I'm not sure how well it hangs together. Please view the attached file (assuming it works) Comments and suggestions are requested.

I am primarily a Champions Player. HOWEVER I do like the multi genre nature of the game, and have picked up all the genre books. However I find I like to tinker and make my own stuff. Now why should I buy the extra books for this line? Convince me. Especialy books like AW, TE, ST

Hi Fellow Hero Fanatics, I have all of the Star Hero related books and the Ultimate Vehicle book but with the great 50% off sale at the online store I was thinking of another purchase. Which of the following do you think would be more useful for a Star Hero game? + Monsters, Minions, and Mauraders + Vehicle Sourcebook My first instinct is the vehicle book but frankly my campaign does not deal with vehichle game mechanics too often. I think the other might be more useful for space aliens, guards, etc. Thoughts? Does anyone have both of these and can give me an educated opinion?

Being a HUGE Jovian Chronicles fan, as well as a huge supporter of all things SilCORE, I've begun to wonder if anyone has done either a generic SilCORE-to-HERO conversion, or more specifically, has done a JC conversion for the HERO system. --a fan of both Silhoutte CORE and HERO NB

I'm trying to model a power for new alien race in my campaign, and I'm having a bit of trouble, so I thought I'd apeal to the pulsating brains of the star hero board. Baisically, the aliens have the ability to manipulate the nervous system of any carbon based organism to induce pain. The problem is I'm not sure how to model this in Hero. The aliens have to make skin contact and requires them to concentrate (0 DCV), but I don't intend the touch to be much use in combat, so I don't want anything like a stun-only HA, or STUN drain because once the skin contact is removed the PC shouldn't be impaired afterwards. I was thinking of something along the lines of an entangle …
