I was reading the Isaac Asimov story, The Evitable Conflict, and this got me thinking. A lot of Hero Gamers are making near-future campaigns where Earth is uninhabitable, due to some disaster. But what if Earth is "dead" for some other reason? I envisioned the following setting: Earth has fallen into an economic collapse, the nations are starving like never before. There are offworld colonies, but only for commercial purposes. In desperation, 10 AIs are put in charge of resources, each ruling over its own "bloc." Freed from human selfishness and greed, they are able to turn the worlds economy into a true socialism, almost a utopia. However, there is a drawback: I…

I was flipping through some of the technology of Star Hero, and the very last item in the section is "Towel: An essential utility item for space travelers". Basically I was wondering if this was a really cool shout out to The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I designed the setting of my usual SF games (Flat Black) to run under an obscure SF/GP RPG called ForeSight. But ForeSight has been out of print since 1986, and it getting to be hard to find players who have access to a copy. Players are understandably less than enthusiastic about playing a game that has 120 pages of rules in 9-point type if they can't study them in spare hours. And I am understandable toey about offering long-term loans of either of my precious copies. A new edition of ForeSight is on the ways, but I am afraid that the designer will be axing some of my favourite rules systems. On of the frequent players in my Flat Black campaigns is a keen Hero Syst…

Here I am, trying to make a Random Generator for Star Hero (I have one for Champions and FH) when it dawned on me... There aren't any classes... Champions: Brick - Egoist - Martial Artist - Energy Projector FH: Fighter - Magic User - Thief - Cleric Star Hero: ??? (Now, granted, I'm more of a Champions Player and I haven't purchased the Star Hero suppliment, so it could have classes listed in their and I don't know about it...) Just in case there isn't a list, here is an idea that I had: Military - Pirate - Scientist - Engineer Any other suggestions? nyakki

I was thinking of what if a character had a communication device implanted in his head. Could this be built as telepathy with some limitations (like only to communicate with another with this type of device also implanted in them). Seems like it could be built as telepathy IMO, but I would definitely appreciate opinions.

I have seen the threads about their Shields and so forth, but what else should I consider to use the Dune influence correctly. I am thinking the Bene Gesserit and The Guild would have some Powers loaded with Advantages and Limitations. Links to threads or info would help.

I realized that the standard HERO System 5th Edition Character sheets are to contricted for my use . Has anyone created their own with larger Skills , Perks , Talents , Powers , Disadvantage sections . Good for pregenerated characters in a Heroic( semi Cinematic ) campaign . Please and thank you . I've been working on some game rules for a Star Wars setting, and would like some input for you folks hanging out on the boards. The attachment consists of some rules for Jedi characters, as well as some miscellaneous equipment and healing rules. I’ve been using the D6/d20 books for reference, adapting the material to a Heroic-level game. Rather than messing with Frameworks, I’ve been building Force Powers and assigning subjective point cost based on how useful the power might be in a game while trying to keep game balance in mind (tricky with Jedi). Is this a good way to go, or should I stick with Multipowers? Based on the point costs, I would expect a Padaw…

I figure this might be more interesting to guys who do more HERO-scale gaming, so I'll post a link here. My group has been using this alternate hit-location system for a while, and it's just plain fun. Give it a try for a session...it'll add spice to your sci-fi battles, and your players will like it. http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16085

Well, I just finished playing the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic RPG and it started me thinking about getting a Star Wars game together (something I haven't thought about in years thanks to a clearly insane George Lucas). I've visited Bobby Farris's Star Hero Wars site, and it looks like he has put a lot of work into his conversions. I'm wondering, though, who is actually playing a Star Wars game using HERO at the moment. I'd like to know if GMs are basing their games on D6/d20, or taking a different approach (or if they actually prefer D6 or d20 over HERO, for that matter). I'd also like to know if the GMs have any suggestions for other gamers based on their …
