Here is a good problem for everyone. In Star Trek Q decides to test which version of the Enterprise is the best version. As a result he grabs the TOS Enterprise and the TNG Enterprise and puts them into a nether realm telling both of them that they must fight each other. They can use whatever means is available to them on the ship according to the official write-up, cannot get aid from any other ship or source. The winner will be granted one wish that they desire. So whom will be the victor? Please state why your choice will end up victorious.

I am asking for help in making a Psychic warrior for my campaign. They are people who have psychic powers who have been trained to fight Cyber-aug. These are genetically designed, cybernetically augmented killers with computer designed personalities. The scariest part is that they look like normal people. The cyber-augs that is. They travel in pods of 13. They go to a planet, infiltrate the infrastructure, and rip it apart right before the Empire shows up to conquer the planet. The Psychic Warriors are created to combat them. What skills and powers would you give the psychic warriors?

Don't think I've ever posted here before... It's eerie. Anyway, in the Champions Board I have started a little group project. I think it would work well here too. Of course it had to be pointed out to me... anyway, go here and get the format and the general idea and post away. The next Pan Galactic Kumate depends on it!

G'day I was just reading the striking section on page 197 of Star Hero in which Steve calculates that Earth would be cracked open by a nuclear weapon test, when I came across this remarkable sentence: "So, the odds of hitting it, even from 1,000 miles away, are much better than average; from 20 miles (roughly equivalent to geosynchronous orbit), you'll only miss if you roll an 18." Geosynchronous orbit has a radius of 22,000 miles, and therefore an altitude of 18,000 miles, not an altitude of 20 miles. Seen from geosynchronous orbit (22,000 miles), Earth's 8,000-mile diameter subtends 20 degrees. It should be about as hard to hit as a hex three hexes a…

Re: Stopping the formation of a sun -- billions of years ago The self repairing, self defending, nebula fueled gravity damper provides more grist for the adventure mill, though, as the PCs get sent back in time to destory it (or figure out how to turn it off, or adjust its settings, or whatever they need to do to 'set things right')

I don't think this has been posted, so here ya go: A new X Prize of US$50M will go to the one who can put six people in actual orbit, and then repeat the feat with the same craft within sixty days! Woo!

I was wondering, how would one build a low berth/medical cryo type tube? I was thinking either a very large LS: Usable Against Others (since you could do it to unwilling people in a non-helpful manner), or a Major transform (Life Form to Popcicle)...

I don't have SH with me (at the office), and I need to know what the formula was for converting movement into kph. All I remember is its not exactly a straight SPD*MOVE*TIME sort of thing (there was a multiplier I'm missing). If anyone has SH or TUV handly, I'd appreciate the formula. Thanks Aroooo

Say you pulled out the "Beer Can Crusher of the Gods" and started to compress the moon, keeping it's mass constant. Eventually, it would get so dense that, even though it doesn't have that much mass in astronomical terms, it will collapse into a black hole. According to Pierre Simone de Laplace (circa 1795) You'd need to squeeze it down to a radius given by r S=2*m*G/c2 Where M is the mass, G is the graviational constant, and c is the speed of light. Using that we'd need to get our moon (7.3483*1022 kg) down to a radius of 0.109 millimeters. What I started to wonder is: what would it be like to have a miniature black hole in orbit around a planet? As far…

I've never liked those quasi-philosophical, too-many-beers-and-not-enough-pretzels questions. (But then, I always hated analyzing stories in Literature class.) The answer is on who would win... whoever the screenwriters picked. Superman vs Batman....whoever the screenwriters picked. Spiderman vs Captain America....whoever the screenwriters picked. Dick Tracy vs TJ Hooker....whoever the screenwriters picked. Death Star vs Enterprise....whoever the screenwriters picked. Enterprise A vs Enterprise D....whoever the screenwriters picked. Bush vs Kerry....whoever the screenwriters picked. See, it's all very simple Now a Klingon Bird of Prey against a B…

i'm putting together some generic writeups together of different types of Imperial troops from Terran Empire. Right now I'm working on the Imperial Army Infantry equipment and am curios what type of armor to give them. Do they just wear the Uniform, or woulds they be found wearing Battle Armor? I would tend to think just the Uniform for a standard soldier and maybe just throw the battle armor on them during heavy attacks? I'm not sure. Do people use the Battle Armor in your campaigns? If so, who wears it?

Hi All, After visiting a lot of the the abbeys and cathedrals in England last year I got an idea for a Star Hero campaign setting that I'd like to develop. Here's the premise: "A Star Hero campaign set thousands of years in the future, where the existence of God has been proven as a fact and humanity has spread throughout the universe." Obviously, "The Church" will have a large effect on the campaign setting or at least be an influence on everyday life. Religious beliefs and customs might be similar to the beliefs of medieval Europe (or other religious cultures.) I've done a little work on the setting already, but am nowhere near being finished. Any id…

Greetings, In designing starships, does size matter? Meaning, how do I as a GM or a player know what size a ship has to be in order to hold all the systems that I want it to have?? I have FREd, Star Hero and Terran Empire, and have been unable to find this information. If there are no restrictions, could someone make a very small ship (to get the OCV advantages) and put a large amount of systems on it (to get the firepower)?? Other than the GM going through each ship and making a "is this reasonable" judgment, is there some guidance that can be provided as to what size a ship needs to be in order to have X amount of systems?? Thanks! Polaris

I'm still reading through Star Hero, but I was wondering... Who uses the universe (the "The Universe, Part 1,2 & 3) creation rules and how useful are they? Some of the stuff in there seems fairly complex (and I suppose it should be), so I'm wondering how other GMs handle creating their universe.

I just purchased Paranoia XP from Warehouse 23, and have been reading through it since Thursday. I've finished reading the setting sections, and now am ready to begin learning the rules. This game is everything I remembered from its 2nd edition incarnation: Funny, dark, and steeped in intraplayer treachery! But, also being a fanatic about HERO 5th, I was wondering if anyone had done any conversions for Paranoia, be it 1st edition, all the way through to the XP edition. --The Computer is your friend, trust The Computer NB

Hey there, fellow sci-fi gamers.... Please feel free to browse and share on this thread. It's in the Champions heading, but it's meant for for sharing gaming props, counters, maps, etc. for all genres. Let's get something cool going. We all have something cool we can share. Editing: sorry for the cross-post...I'd delete, but the post is a thread-starter.

The Hero System handles targetting large objects by deducting 2 from their DCV for each doubling of all dimensions. Thus a cube 10 meters on a side will have 'X' DCV, while one 20 meters on a side will have 'X'-2 DCV. From any given direction, the 10 meter cube will present 100 square meters of target surface (more or less) while the 20 meter one will present 400 square meters. But what is to keep the engineers of the 20 meter cube from designing it not as a 20 meter cube, but as a 10x10x80 'cigar'? Same volume, same 'size', but it presents a 100 square meter target area from some aspects, and a 800 square meter one from others. Theoretically, this should…

Has anyone done any write ups for a campaign set in the Solar Imperium of "Perry Rhodan"? I'd be very interested in anyone's approach to tricky things like paratron shields and transform-cannon, or a write-up of Hulatar troops or TARA combat robots.

Can anyone point me a place online where I can buy the OLD Star Hero, not the 5th edition one. I have had no problem finding just about all the other old Hero stuff, except for this, doesn't even appear to exist in the Amazon of Half.com databases, I can't seem to find a retailer stocking it either, although I admit it is difficult to search for, since it has the same name as the current product.

I'm debating the playability of a Star Blazers style game. Having the PC's either play Yamato style crew or a Harlock variation. It's a very grim sci-fi universe but with a strong undercurrent of hope. How playable would you think this is?

Out of curiosity, what kind of balance between optimism and pessimism do people like to see in their science-fiction campaigns? Would you play a game in which humanity was essentially on a march to extinction and there was little you could do about it? Or would you prefer role-paying in a setting where life is significantly better for just about everybody than it is now?

Greetings, Recently I spoke to Steve Long about revising and expanding the KAZEI 5 campaign book with the idea of presenting it to DOJ sometime in the future as a possible 5th Edition book (this will have to occur after CYBER HERO is released, of course). That said, I have begun to revise many elements of the original setting. Oddly enough, I am concentrating right now on the NPCs, coverting them over to 5th Edition format and rethinking many of their powers and the like. I am also working on a document akin to a "writer's bible," detailing the look and feel of the setting as I see it. What I am interested from all of you is input on the setting. Such as: What…

This is once again inspired by the Andromeda TV series tech website, allsystems.org plus some of the more exotic weapons we saw in Season 1, Episode 2 (An Affirming Light). I was wondering how to model things like banders, and Tyr's autonomous weapons. 1. Tyr has a weapon that fires micro-missiles (apparently larger versions of the force-lance effectors rather than simple gauss-gun smart bullets). He fires two blind into a duct where Dylan is around the corner out of sight; he apparently trusts the micro-missiles to round the corner, decide Hunt is a viable target, and attack him by themselves without a target-lock. 2. Tyr throws what look like bladed version…
