I'm planning to design a character who is a fully Cybernetic warrior. The only things on him that are flesh 'n blood are his brain and spinal column. He does feel pain (i.e. Takes Stun) and his brain can be rattled in his skull (i.e. be "Stunned") but its very difficult to do so (Damage Reduction, Stun only?) His "body" it totally modular. He has several weapons and gadgets built right in to his body and over a dozen weapons packages that can be attatched onto "quick change mounts". What I was thinking was designing him with a Multiform with 3 forms. His "Base" form will be the weakest. Its a Cybernetic Body that looks completely normal, but isn't (…

Has anyone converted or used Conspiracy X in their HERO game? I am looking at doing a conversion and wanted to see if someone had already come up with some notes.

Has anyone put any thought towards converting the extremely cool quasi-OOP game Space: 1889 for HERO? Space: 1889 was one of the THE best roleplaying game products ever produced, as far as I'm concerned, and it deserves more than a meager reprinting by Heliograph! --has anyone done this yet? NB

In my upcoming Star HERO game I want to use a lot of cybernetics, but I lack the money right now to get SH or Spacer's Toolkit (and after flipping through that book and seeing the majority of it being spaceships I would never use, I put it back down). Is there a website or list by anybody who has create any cybernetics in their games? Anything would be a big help. Thank you in advance.

Uplift Hero!!!

I just purchased a copy of GURPS Uplift, and am liking it. Much of the material converts pretty cleanly to HERO, and I have made the following changes: 1. Neo-dogs are not covered by Terragens Uplift ban, and have been uplifted to full sentience. 2.After the Great Sundering, contact with Galaxy Four was lost, but links formed with another one of the Lost Galaxies. Now there's truly a new frontier to explore. 3.Emperor Strephon was never assassinated, and the Rebellion never started. There are however, some problems: I don't own a copy of Gurps Space (or any other Gurps book), and it draws heavily on technologies from that. Does anyone know the benchmarks for Gu…

Hello HEROphiles, I noticed on the various STAR WARS HERO forums that no one has poste any of the Vehicle (Swoops, Pod Racers, X-Wings, Tie Fighters, etc...) or Bases (Death Star anyone???). I look forward to seeing true HERO Mechanics work these out for us. CHALLENGE QM

I've got a space adventure coming up in my Champions campaign, and I was wondering if anyone has got Hero-scale plans for a small starship (25 X 10 inches, two decks high)? It's a small scout/patrol/courier vessel of very advanced design, and with limited weaponry. I can cobble something up from scratch if I must; but if someone has already put together a good ship design I'd rather apply my limited time to fleshing out the story arc; which I expect will run 8 or 9 months.

Been kicking around an idea for some time, I'd like to trot it out here and get some feedback. As a way of sneaking nonhumans into a low-level Star Hero game (either cyberpunk or based in the solar system, but with advanced gengineering), what do you think of genetic tribalism? That's a term I use to cover an idea I read about years ago. How, in the future, genetics engineering might become a tool of fashion and social bonding; i.e., everyone in this one subculture has themselves modded to look like elves or wolf-people or Cthuloids or whatever, AND they have their kids genetically modded in the same fashion. Sort of like that line from Batman Beyond; "It lets me est…

I just purchased a buttload of HERO stuff online, and whilst I await the delivery of my precious cargo, I'd like to see in advance how sleek and flexible the HERO system is! I'd really appreciate it if a HERO fan could stat up both the God-Emperor Leto II (from the novel God Emperor of Dune), and the ever-popular Neo (from the Matrix trilogy). --thanks guys! I'm really psyched about HERO! NB

G'day A lively sense of expectation has made the weeks seem very long, but the copy of Star Hero (and the two discounted copies of FREd) that I ordered from http://www.scifigenre.com on the second of May have at last arrived. Total cost US$113.25 (including shipping) = about A$155 = 53.30 Big Macs. And I don't even eat Big Macs. That's certainly good buying considering that FREd alone sells for about A$90 in these benighted parts. And considering that 53.3 Big Macs is probably a lethal dose. So I've looked through Star Hero and been very impressed, particularly by its analysis and description of genre conventions. Tell me: 1. What other sourcebooks in the H…

What do you use for interstellar drive in your campaigns? I am not looking for stats. Those are easy. I am looking for descriptions and the effect they have on the campaign setting. In my campaign there are 4-5 different drives. 1. Imperial Warp Drive. 2. Federation Warp Drive. 3. Stutterwarp Drive. 4. Hyperspace Drive or Jump Drive. 5. True Hyperspace Drive. In my campaign, the lightspeed barrier still exists. The drives are based on the current idea that our entire universe is a bubble in 5th dimensional space/reality (hereafter refered to as S/R). The main thing about this is that our 4th dimensional bodies and minds cannot deal with 5th dim…

Well after 3 months of design work, my Star Hero game is allmost ready to go. I'm going for "hard" SF and have a question: What would happen if a modern-day bullet was fired in vacuum? Would the absence of air stop the combustion needed to propel the bullet? I figured the collective intellect of this forum would be a good place to get an answer.

Just FYI: Pyramid (http://www.sjgames.com/pyramid) has a mostly-positive review of Alien Wars this week (June 18 2004). A few quotes (from a considerably longer writeup): "Physically Alien Wars is a solidly done softback, well written and profusely illustrated. Unfortunately, it is these illustrations that let the supplement down. Some of them are too clean for the setting's gritty feel, while the maps are often too small and too dark to use with ease. Worse still, the setting's equipment is under-illustrated, and when it is depicted, the illustrations are all-too-frequently placed away from the actual write-ups." "If there is one thing that a bug hunting milita…

Name for a Future Tech Explosive

Mightybec and I need help coming up with a name for a stable, future-tech explosive that's detonated by an electric charge. Oh, and a tablespoon of this stuff is enough to blow the engine of a tractor trailor to pieces if hit dead-on. So... anyone have a suitably futuristic name we can borrow?

I got the idea for acampaign setting: in the 1980's, President regan got to build his space defense shield. the cover story was that it was targeted at Soviet nuclear missles. the truth was far more sinister -- they were aimed OUT.... You see, just before he becamse Presdient, Reagan got a visit from an alien. It was obviously an alien -- there was no way to dispute it. There was also no way to stop it from approaching the President-elect. Thank goodness it was friendly. However, it had come as an advance scount from the civilization at Sirius, and bore a message -- they had intercepted Earth's Tv transmissions and, hbaving seen too amny bad '50s sci-=fi mvoies, dete…

A recent thread has gotten me thinking that most alien races tend to be variations on the human race. You see a great deal of this in the Star Trek shows and in many space-faring supplements. Has anyone developed or come across some truely alien races? Of the ones that aren't human tend to be modeled on ants or some sort of hive mentality. What about something truely wierd? I'd imagine other alien races could follow along the lines found in Call of Cthulhu.
