My SH game will finally commence this Friday and I've got 2 questions for the science-minded. 1 Where in our Solar System can you find deuterium? It will be used to fuel fusion reactors in my game and I need to know where it would be mined. I'm thinking Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus but am not sure. Getting it from Earth isn't an option (Dead World Syndrome). 2 What materials would be used to build efficient radiation sheilding? The type to be used on spacecraft to protect the crew from solar radiation effects during interplanetary flight. I would rather not tell the players"You're protected by 2 meters of lead" And thanks to the users of this forum for answerin…

Hi guys, My game will incorporate a mixt of elements between Starcraft/Starship Troopers/Battletech/ and Warhammer 40K and I need advices on how to create a power armor. First question, should I use the vehicule rules to create the armor? I only have the basic book, so I don't have access to the more detailed vehicule rules. Secondly, how can I , with the basic rules, set statistics to a constant level? Let me be more clear. Let's say I want the powerarmor to give a 30 STR no matter hopw strong the person inside the suit is. How can I do that? Third, anyone has exemple of power suits I could use? Thanks!

Effects of different gravities on carbonation?

This is a relatively minor detail, but one my players will probably bring up: what effect does different levels of gravity (high-G, low-G, zero-G) have on carbonated beverages?

Star Hero suggests creating smart missiles as fanatically loyal summoned objects. But this seems a bulky and expensive way to accomplish the goal to me. During 4th ed, someone online posted an optional advantage called Seeking. Seeking was +3/4 and allowed an attack to make an attack roll on the heroes phase if it missed initially. The attack had to be bought Continuous for Seeking to be used. Does this sound workable to people?

http://www.lpl.arizona.edu/impacteffects is an online calculator giving the effects of an asteroid strike on an earth-like planetary surface. It returns both the energy released in TNT equivalent and the crater size. Just the thing for sorting out your Evil Empire's interplanetary trebuchet

You know, like in Episode 2 where Anakin says he can sense what is going on in the next room where Amidala is sleeping while he is guarding her? Would that be Clairsentience or some kind of Detect Sense? If Detect, what would you list as the type of effect/creature that you can detect? Force users? Living things, machines?

Ok, I went and did a very rough draft for a Locust battlemech I havent done anything with heat sinks on it yet, otherwise I think shes about done. I tinkered with the size and strength to come up with a mass of around 20 tons, this ones 25 tons, but again its an idea. Defensewise, I went with with 4 pts of DEF per ton of armor carried she mounts a medium laser and 2 machine guns, and is 3025 tech eventually if we can agree on a mech design system, I will get around to cranking out a lot of mech designs I will post a text version to the gadgets version of Star Hero Fandom shortly

another rough starting point references borrowed from various rules versions and the novels as a general rule standard battlemech sensors are pretty mediocre rangewise it seems like

Picture this: a near future setting, 2075 or so. Humanity's only presence in space is a series of orbital stations which oinclude industrial colonies (for technology that can only be manufactured in space), tourist hotels, and military observation posts/weapon platforms (which can od things like kill a single person on Earth by firing a laser sattelite from orbit). Space is thriving as a commerical and residential area, and children are beinbg born on the stations who might spend their entire lives there. In fact, they're going to have to. Because something is about to happen on Earth. Something bad. Something so bad that the surface of the Earth will be unsuitable f…

Re: The Malvans
by Guest LordZarglif- 3 replies

As all of us Terran Empire GMs/players know, the Malvans once had a mighty, powerful Empire, with technology verging into the realm of Clarke's Law. Then, the Empire fell into decadence, and is now reduced to the Malvan homeworld and a few colonies. But what if an Emperor came into power that, unlike his predecessors, wanted to see the Malvans return to their former glory? With ATRI 14 tech and megadreadnoughts that could take on entire fleets, this would, quite literally, be the War to End All Wars.

My FTL drive: comments? (warning: this is kinda long)

Keep in mind that I am an alt for Zarglif69, which was banned temporarily for being rude to Mecha players, and generally acting liek JeffK. Sorry! In the year 2063, UNASA scientists found that objects using a very misunderstood device could be "inserted" into what appeared to be another continuum at certain points, which can be found in the gravity well around a stellar or planetary body (this works like Poulsen's Alderson Drive. Does anyone know how to calculate these points?). The probes did travel faster than light, but came out as a mass of dissassociated quarks, practically blazing with neutrino emmissions. No one could figure out what was happening. Then, in 20…

I've created a PDF file containing a layout for keeping track of equipment END. You can grab it from http://fitz.jsr.com/roleplay/hero/sci-fi/terranempire/campaign_notes/campaignindex.html -- look under "Resources" in the navigation column.
