I'm beginning a Heroic level Pulp game soon, and I'm trying to decide if I want to use the Wounding rules. Anyone have any experience and comments they would like to share about this particular rule?

For people who have them both, how would you rate the 4th edition vs. 5th edition versions of: The Ultimate Martial Artist? Bestiary? Ninja Hero? Or any other books. I really like the 5th edition main rule book and I'm really looking forward to picking up Star Hero, but I seem to be doing okay with 4th ed versions of all of the above. (Note: I seem to recall reading that NH is a campaign setting rather than just a 5th edition version of the other one -- I guess I just need comparisons of the setting material, then.)

I read in the paper today that a new 5 shot revolver is on the market now for $980. It is different, because it is the first firearm to feature a .50 Calibur round. I'd quote the article if I hadn't misplaced it but it is said to have the stopping power to take down a charging bear. Any idea what the write up for that would be? My initial guess would be 2d6 RKA, Double Knockback, Charges 5, Real Weapon.

Okay, my Character Super Blue has a STR of 35, which gives him a base damage of 7d6. If I bought a 3d6 HHA with Damage Sheild, would I add my STR and make it a 10d6 Damage Sheild?

Standard answer of "If the GM allows it..." aside, would something like this be legal in FREd? I've got a player whose character is largely in another dimension. The character's physical presence is, for all intent's, a sort of "waldo" that he uses to interact with "the real world." The, ummm, creative use of Desolid would be an easier way to build such a character than buying all of the abilities/stats as "usable across dimensions..." I'm not so much concerned with point costs... I'm just lazy. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. Charlie

does a hero who takes multiform(the shazam thing) have to buy a multiform in his other form to change back to normal?

Okay, the topic name is a joke and I know it wouldn't be an "Ultimate" book, but some source book with tons of details on disads would be useful and fun to read. Sections on each of the main types, their uses, examples, and then some laundry lists for each one. What do people think?

In several things now I have seen attacks which make the target sick thereby imparing him in combat. D&D had the stinking cloud spell. Minority Report has the "sick stick." How would you do these kind of attacks in HERO.

Just an alert for the DH subscribers -- the Shades Of Black playtest document is now available, complete with maps! This is our first scenario playtested, so the process is a bit different than normal. Please read the introductory instructions carefully, and e-mail me if you have any questions. In particular, we're hoping to get a lot of people to actually playtest the adventure -- run it in their own campaigns, or as an impromptu one-shot campaign. That's more helpful for adventure products than any other type of book. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

On Page 154 of Space Hero, there is an sample "Multi-Purpose Energy Weapon". In this example some of the multipower's slots automatically use more than one charge, at a limitation cost of -1/4 for the first 3 charges, incrementing by -1/4 for each doubling of the number of charges used. Is this an official ruling? Is it somewhere in FRED? Thanks.

I recently purchased a book called the The Illustrated Book of Guns, primarily for its visual value. It's got something like a thousand different guns, with pictures, a few statistics and a paragraph on each one. I figured I could let players of a more modern game look through the book when choosing firearms. Anyway, I was working up the game statistics for the weapons in a spreadsheet and ran into an interesting little foible; the black powder pistols in the book seem to have extremely low muzzle velocities. I noted all of them as being in the range of 350 fps to 550 fps, a considerable sight lower than modern handguns, which are typically in the 900 to 1400 fps ran…

The US Armed Forces are preparing to start using armed robots to supplement (and eventually replace) humans on the battlefield within the next 10-25 years. Here's an article describing some of the robots that are on the drawing board. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/nation/1779709

Basically it's a no-ranged electrical EB focused on a staff. However, if the user doesn't have on protective gloves, he too will suffer the damage of the strike. With the gloves on, he can hack away to his hearts content. How would you guys write up the Side Effect for this weapon?

TIme was my characters who were working for an organization (Police, Military, Supervillain) would take the Watched limitation as a way to signify that they were subject to orders from their leaders. Now, I see that Soc Lim: "Subject to Orders" is here. Does this replace my Watched limitation from 4th Edition days or can it be used in conjunction with the Watched limitation. Please help. Much thanx. Agent333
