Plastic-Man ?

Well, yeah but it's not like anyone is that invested in the existing character canon, is it?  So if they want to change that, I don't really care.

There's the secondary question, of what's the point of making this a female character, and how is it going to be used, of course.  I have to say the initial guess is, "well, no one's gonna give a darn about this character so let's throw in some bimbo vixen type and draw in the young guys that way."

I mean, honestly, Plastic Man?  Well, I suppose it is long winter nap season...

I suppose the idea is that we will get to see her use her superpower to alter the size of her breasts.

The article just says the film will be "female-centric", not that they'll be changing Plaz's gender. I can think of a few ways to do that, like making the main character one of Plastic Man's supporters or maybe an agent assigned to keep him under control. The effect of having a superhuman around and the changes it makes in the primary character's life could be much more interesting than the super himself.

Great idea. Sadly, this is DC I believe, so what are the odds, unless they put him in same "arena" as SHAZAM, which could be great. Still hoping for a sequel to that movie.

Honestly, a Plastic Man movie has been 'in development' for over 20 years - The Wachowski sisters wrote a script in the 1990s.  Until they actually talking casting or shooting, the movie doesn't really exist.

The hiring does suggest that Warner has decided that female-led or fun superhero movies are a better bet than Snyder-style flicks.  Or that somebody wants to give the lady mentioned a paycheck.  As said, there are some interesting things that could be done, and some really dumb things.  If it ever actually gets made, I'll give it a chance.
