Pattern Ghost
Bristol police mistake their own black race relations advisor for a criminal... and tase him So, the race relations advisor can't carry out basic communication with the police? Trouble could have been avoided by simply identifying himself after the police stated their probable cause for the contact. Tasing could have been avoided by not resisting arrest after he refused to ID himself. The only way I can see that one being on the police is if they were lying about him matching a suspect's description. I'd like to think the article would mention that, but "reporters" today don't actually do any research, so it's definitely a possibility. Clonus
So, the race relations advisor can't carry out basic communication with the police? Calling him a "race relations adviser" is a bit of an overstatement. He's a member of a group that exists to communicate complaints about police behaviour to the police. Not an actual mediator or any kind of professional communicator.

DasBroot
Dumb staff, smart criminals. Getting into a common area for a bit before getting caught is definitely smarter and more likely than trying to get out of the prison.
Christopher
Think about it this way: Despite the Prision having convicted Murderers, they are left largely unattended overnight. So they were not that likely to make a run for it or causes issues to begin with. The advantages of proper social security: Everyone is a lot more chilled, even the prision inmates. Plus "convicted Murdereres" could include negligience related killings and other "not 1st Degree Murder" cases. L. Marcus
Murder ("mord") and manslaughter ("dråp") are two different crimes under our system. In all probability, the three inmates in the article were sent to jail for pre-meditated killing a fellow human.
