It would that jumping on the hood of a car that you and your fellow cops have riddled with bullets and then proceed to unload fiften more rounds gang style is a justfiable action if you have a badge.

I support police the police most of the time, but I can't imagine voting this way on a jury.

I saw an article that said the feds are looking into this shooting.  Good.

There's a real danger here to police.  If people start to believe that cops can do anything and get away with it, they're going to start taking justice into their own hands.  I know if I was the father of that baby who got a grenade in the crib, I'd be slipping into someone's house at night.

I just pray the world will never have to find out what I might do in such a case.

And while I don't always agree with the DoJ, I think them coming in is necessary. Too many prosecutors on the local level rely on and are in too tight with the local police forces for them to be effective and unbiased imo. The Feds have their own problems, but at least that isn't one of them.

They told him to drop the knife, he didn't do so immediately.  So they shot him.  Seems like a pretty standard police outcome to me.

Of course, it is only standard because we seem to have police that lean more towards sturmtruppen than Andy Griffith.  Perhaps the solution is to create a new law enforcement branch that deals with domestic disputes, drunks, suicidal folks and kids, and let the current police just deal with "real criminals".   Then, oh, so slowly, downsize most of the current force....

Yeah, we have that. It IS the police. That is why we don't have the FBI or National guard doing normal police work. Besides, no standard City, County, or State department has the funds to run two separate but consecutive forces. Be nice if we had such funding, though.
