In addition to that, it seems that the MCU-promulgated notion that Mjolnir can't be moved unless someone worthy moves it (like Thor or Vision) appears to have been debunked by the fact that Surtur's dragon managed to shake it off after Thor tried to keep him pinned down by dropping it into his mouth. Lord Liaden Posted March 22, 2018 Report Share Posted March 22, 2018 Re Surtur's dragon, I believe Thor lifted the hammer off himself when more fire demons attacked him, and then tried to escape by flight. The dragon was then free to chase him. Yup, here's the scene: BTW I really hope they bring Mjolnir back in one of the upcoming Avengers movies. Like tornado winds in his first movie, and rain in the second one. I hope the Russos remember that in their upcoming Avengers movies. Even without Mjolnir Thor may be able to fly on the wind, like Storm does. He could in the animated Avengers EMH. I don't recall if she's ever tried with the genuine article, but she'd probably be on the short list of Marvel heroes with the character to be accepted by the hammer's enchantment. The Silver Surfer could, but it would be little more than a trinket to him. Cap has in the past. Beta Ray Bill, of course. Maybe Peter Parker, but I doubt he'd have the confidence to try. The first time he fought Thor, he acknowledged the hammer's power was greater than his. (The Surfer was winning at the time, but he realized Loki was secretly adding his own power.) When, how, and for whom this whole "worthiness" thing applies is really a plot device that writers tweak to suit their needs. The Surfer is supposed to be the most powerful of Galactus' heralds, and the stunt fellow herald Terrax pulled levitating Manhattan into orbit appeared to eclipse the full extent of what Thor could do with Mjolnir's power. The Silver Surfer is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe, more like Odin level of power than Thor. Or more. Except that incident was immediately followed by Thor creating a hurricane under New York harbor to push and hold back all the water rushing in to fill where Manhattan had been, right to the shore line, so his fellow Avengers could evacuate people from the flooded underground road and subway tunnels. That last statement is true; but in the comics, out of the dozen or so fights they've had over the years the Silver Surfer has never outright beaten Thor without outside boost to his power, while Thor has beaten the Surfer at least once. Other battles ended in stalemate or were stopped by changing circumstances. There isn't enough precedent to base a claim on that the Silver Surfer is more powerful than Thor, let alone the equal of Odin. Whether one thinks he should be is a matter of opinion.
