Funny story: We had a Jeep Wagoneer (think Suburban but with one less row of seats) back in the early eighties. There was a faux wood grain panel down each side. Over the years the sticker became faded and looked pretty tacky. My Mom's solution was to take a can of stain and a rag and re-stain the sticker. Surprisingly, it looked as good as new when she got done.
