  1. These aren't so much "missed" as they already exist. Invulnerability: This sounds like an absolute (CC 8), or at best a plot device. Not something I would worrying about building for a player--as a GM, points just don't matter. Also, as you documented, the resistant defense is pointless if you're saying that no BODY damage is done. If you have to build this, look at Damage Reduction (CC 56) as the basis (extrapolate for 100% and limited to BODY only). Immortal: This appears to already be covered by Life Support and Regeneration (at least in 6E1). The only apparent difference is you set a lower cost. Doesn't Bleed: Already there as Does Not Bleed (CC 58) Prophecy: If this isn't a plot device then it sounds like Precognition (Clairsentience; CC 54) Resurrection: Regeneration (at least in 6E1) Posession: Possession (APG1 74) Mind Swap: Part of Possession (APG1 74) I don't know what effect you intend spirit swapping to represent, so.... (And Hyperman posts while I'm still typing.)
  2. Characteristics can only be bought down to 1 (CC 11).
  3. I assume you mean the upgrade to 10. You don't get a new key that you can use to install on another system. It installs a key that is tied to your system. [short break while did some searching] Check out Thurrott.com for ongoing Windows 10 information. Your question is answered here: https://www.thurrott.com/windows/windows-10/5008/windows-10-tip-associate-your-pc-with-your-free-windows-10-license
  4. Which is a nice house rule (see 6E1 319). This is also a great demonstration of why all of the characters posted on the forums (or elsewhere) by various folks can't just be taken at face value. We always need to evaluate them for our particular game. There are far too many unstated assumptions (house rules, grandfathered rules from previous editions, campaign limits, etc.) to just take a character and use it without surprise. That doesn't make the characters wrong, just built for a specific use case. Caveat Emptor. You get what you pay for. Insert appropriate saying here.
  5. Technically true. Yes. There is no "free" base for Mental Defense (5E and below). If you bought Mental Defense, you got to add your EGO/5 (5ER 200). Starting in 6E, there are no free points based on your EGO if you buy Mental Defense.
  6. The last sentence of the first paragraph on Strength (top left on FHC 17) references both the Strength Table and how the values on the table are calculated. The Strength Table on FHC 17.
  7. The description for Complexity on SH 120 says to use the planet's age from the Star System Data Table on page 103.
  8. Stand in front of your computer. Look sternly at the icon and say, "Piss off!!!" Or try this registry entry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Gwx] "DisableGwx"=dword:00000001 Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage or loss if you (the reader) edit your registry and then have problems with Windows or any of your applications.
  9. My understanding is that this is restricted to your local network. In which case you actually save bandwidth from your network provider.
  10. Agree with Enforcer. Typical "journalism" these days. They were probably talking about the increasing use of mobile devices versus desktops/laptops. Or they could have just been blowing smoke.
  11. No Absolutes: 6E1 11, CC 8, FHC 10. Absolute Effect Rule (optional, warning): 6E1 133.
  12. Or from an earlier post: http://www.herogames.com/forums/topic/72524-using-extra-time-for-a-cool-down/?do=findComment&comment=1853950
  13. Just use a Limited Power limitation (6E1 382). Probably worth -1/4 (possibly 0 if your combats don't normally go over a turn). (Not sure why they referenced FHC 162--that's about holding and aborting actions--primarily.)
  14. Interesting, but not original. I've been doing this for decades with Hero. Admittedly there was often a campaign equivalent that we would substitute, but if someone had something new, that was great.
  15. The Hero version was actually a late addition to the Kickstarter. When they first went live I contacted them about a Hero version and was told it wasn't in the plans. That obviously changed. The KS was successful, and a number of us on the board here made the same inquiry. Ultimately, a win for everyone.
  16. That's why you don't show them the whole map.
  17. I remember the ratio. I remember going through all our characters at the time and working out that ratio. Unfortunately I, and the others I played with, didn't see the value. It really seemed like an extra step to what we already were looking at: Active Cost. In those early days, the Real Cost (Total Cost) was pretty much fixed. Not by the rules, but because no one was leaving points on the table, so-to-speak. So if Real Cost is static, simplify the equation and get rid of the division. Comparing Active Cost to Active Cost gave you the same comparison. Now, it may be that I've just been at this for too long, and have internalized much of the math over the years, but I still don't see any great use for the ratio in a game today. Regardless of whether everyone uses their full 400 points (for example), if all I see is 2 characters' Active Costs with one at 450 and one at 750, I'm likely to give the nod to the 750 having the edge. (NOTE: Neither the ratio or comparing Active Costs accounts for the balance of combat vs. non-combat abilities which is a much bigger possibility in 6E than it was back in 1E-3E days. So I'm still comparing apples to apples.) As a side note, I have my paper Champions materials clear back to 1981 (some electronic stuff failed to jump the technology upgrade chasms). The papers recording all of those ratios is not among them. That's how highly I valued it back then. Now, jumping to present time, I think the ratio is possibly useful when comparing across the different versions, as Ron did in the article. With differing base costs, changes to Advantage/Limitation values, etc. it provides a more accurate representation. However I still won't use it myself for 2 main reasons: 1) It doesn't account for combat/non-combat abilities which I could use for balance; and 2) I don't have the time or need to compare characters across the different versions.
  18. Jason Walters of Hero Games has stated that Champions Complete, and now Fantasy Hero Complete, are the current version, replacing the 2 volume set.
  19. That's a lot of printing...and cutting...and gluing. I'm tired just thinking about it. Looks good though.
  20. Windows 10 is going to be released in waves. The current Windows 10 Insiders will get it on the 29th. Others will follow after them, but there's no specifics at this time. I'm sure Microsoft has criteria, but it just hasn't been published.
  21. I'm not rushing. I don't have the time to deal with being an early adopter this go-round.
  22. No, you didn't miss anything. 6E specifies HAP as "optional." Starting with Champions Complete (CC 130) they are just presented as part of character development.
